LA District Attorney explains why they won't charge P. Diddy in 2016 case

The LA District Attorney called footage of Diddy assaulting ex Cassie Ventura in 2016 disturbing, though too old to prosecute.

CCTV appears to shows P.Diddy attack Cassie Ventura in 2016

The Los Angeles District Attorney's office has responded to the "disturbing" resurfaced video appearing to show Sean Diddy Combs assaulting his then-girlfriend Casandra "Cassie" Ventura in 2016.

"We are aware of the video that has been circulating online allegedly depicting Sean Combs assaulting a young woman in Los Angeles.

We find the images extremely disturbing and difficult to watch," the D.A.'s office said in a statement Friday.

However, the office noted if the conduct occurred in 2016, it would be unable to prosecute as the statute of limitations has expired.

The D.A.'s office said it has not been presented with a case against Combs related to the alleged attack.

"We encourage anyone who has been a victim or witness to a crime to report it to law enforcement or reach out to our office for support," the statement said.

CNN released the hotel security footage Friday showing Combs appearing to grab Ventura by the neck, shove, drag and kick her repeatedly.

"The gut-wrenching video has only further confirmed the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs," Ventura's attorney Douglas H. Wigdor said.

Combs has not publicly addressed the video.

He previously denied allegations after Ventura sued him in November 2023 for sexual assault and abuse over a 10-year period before they settled.

Combs' attorney Aaron Dyer also criticized authorities for the "excessive show of force and hostility" during raids of Combs' homes in March related to a federal sex trafficking probe, though Combs has not been charged.
