Pentwater Historical Society hosts spring dinner May 22

May 14, 2024

WEARE TOWNSHIP — The Pentwater Historical Society is hosting a spring dinner Wednesday, May 22, at 5:30 p.m. at the Earl and Linda Peterson Research Station, at 5185 N. Oceana Dr.

The topic for the program is the Great Circle Tour presented by Pentwater resident Dan Girvan. Dan and his wife Jenny Lynn circumnavigated the tour three times. He will share their experiences through photos and stories, covering the highlights of their journeys through the Great Lakes, the Mississippi and other river routes through the midwestern and southern states, the Gulf of Mexico, the IntraCoastal waterway, New York’s Erie Canal, the St. Lawrence Seaway, the northern route through Canada’s historic fascinating system of canals and locks, and finally returning through the Great Lakes. They visited major cities and small marinas, and were instrumental in at least one rescue operation during their travels.

A $30 ticket includes catered appetizers, dinner and dessert beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the program which begins at 7 p.m. The event is BYOB.

Tickets are available at pentwaterhistoricalsociety.org; or at Jilly’s Gallery or Decors by Sandra; or by calling Karen (231) 425-7252 or Dan (616) 734-2103 for tickets. If you’re planning to buy tickets at the door, call one of the above phone numbers to let organizers know you will be attending.
