by Alice

Disney has revealed that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will officially open on June 28 at Magic Kingdom Park, Walt Disney World, as announced on Sunday night during American Idol.

The eagerly anticipated reimagining of Splash Mountain invites guests on a musical journey, picking up where the Walt Disney Animation Studios film left off. This log-flume attraction concludes with a thrilling 50-foot drop, reminiscent of its predecessor.

Emphasizing authenticity, Disney collaborated with New Orleans to faithfully represent its culture. Riders will be transported to the enchanting bayou, adorned with Spanish moss and water lilies. The storyline follows Tiana as she prepares for a Mardi Gras celebration. The attraction features familiar songs from the film, alongside new compositions blending zydeco and jazz. The French Quarter-inspired queue will even fill the air with the scent of freshly fried beignets.

Walt Disney Imagineering has employed cutting-edge technology, including their most advanced audio-animatronics, which debuted at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. These animatronics offer fluid movements and enhanced storytelling capabilities. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will showcase dozens of these sophisticated figures, featuring beloved characters like Princess Tiana, Louis, Mama Odie, Eudora, and Prince Naveen, along with a new ensemble of musical critters. Anika Noni Rose, Bruno Campos, Jenifer Lewis, and Michael-Leon Wooley will reprise their voice roles from the film.

Previews are scheduled ahead of the public opening for Florida-based Cast Members, Annual Passholders, and eligible Disney Vacation Club Members. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is also set to open later this year at Disneyland Resort.
