Mecklenburg-Vorpommern – Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is recognized by its vast agricultural areas, forests and more than a thousand lakes and ponds. Important cities can be found on the Baltic Sea coast, such as Rostock, Warnemünde, Wismar and Stralsund.
Rostock
Rostock, an old Hanseatic city, is the largest port city in Mecklenburg. The oldest university in Northern Europe is also in Rostock. Schwerin , the capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern located on the Schwerin Lake, has a beautiful ducal palace.

Saxony-Anhalt

Saxony-Anhalt has a river landscape of the Elbe and a wooded area, which is the part of Harz. Here are also beautiful towns with half-timbered houses, such as Wernigerode . The rock formations are impressive to see, with Brocken the highest point (1,142 meters).

Wittenberg

The theologian-philosopher Martin Luther lived and worked in Wittenberg for a long time. He therefore gave the nickname Lutherstadt to Wittenberg. The Castle Church is located here, where Luther’s grave is also located.
Magdeburg is the capital of Saxony-Anhalt. Magdeburg has many medieval churches, beautifully situated on the Elbe.

Brandenburg

Brandenburg is located around Berlin. For a long time Brandenburg was also a unit with Berlin. Many streams, rivers and lakes provide a variety in the slightly hilly landscape with numerous pine forests. The lakes around Berlin and the rivers Havel and Spree offer water sports enthusiasts many options. The
Spreewald nature reserve is located southeast of Berlin .

Potsdam

Potsdam, a beautiful excursion from Berlin. It was the former residence of the kings of Prussia and it is now the capital of Brandenburg. The Havel lakes surround the city , which are very popular with water sports enthusiasts.

  • the Cecilienhof Palace – the Potsdam Conference was held here in 1945
