University of Miami Student-Athletes Earn Degrees at Spring Commencement

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – During commencement exercises this week at the University of Miami, 80 Hurricanes student-athletes are set to earn their undergraduate or graduate degrees.

“I am extremely proud of our student-athlete graduates,” Vice President/Director of Athletics Dan Radakovich said. “They have competed at the highest level while challenging themselves in the classroom. I hope to see all of them back on campus often, engaging as proud University of Miami alumni.”

Thirteen of the University’s athletic programs are represented at commencement, led by the football team with 17 graduates, including first-team All-ACC kicker Andy Borregales and wide receiver Xavier Restrepo. The list also includes 2023 NCAA Midwest Regional Most Outstanding Player Nijel Pack from men’s basketball; golfer Sara Byrne, who was recently selected to the Arnold Palmer Cup’s international team; All-America tennis standout Alexa Noel; three-time ACC men’s diving champion Max Flory; and ACC postgraduate scholarship recipients Ben Chestnutt (baseball) and Isabella Pfennig (women’s tennis).

Seven former student-athletes are returning to earn their degrees — Isaiah Wong from men’s basketball; Destiny Harden from women’s basketball; Hannah Hall from women’s track and field; and four football student-athletes — Miami Dolphins defensive end Jaelan Phillips, Buffalo Bills defensive end Greg Rousseau, Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson and running back Duke Johnson, who earlier this week announced his retirement after eight NFL seasons.
