For finding the un-googleable things that are on the tip of your tongue... That word... The name of that song... That movie...
[TOMT] Where do I know the intro from Wang Chung's "To Live and Die in L.A." from? It's not from the namesake film, but I could swear I know it from another 80’s film.
Watching John Mulaney and I heard the intro from the song. I have not seen the William Friedkin film , but I had a a very strong memory of it from another 80’s film. At first I thought of "Beverly Hills Cop" and subsequently "Real Genius.". Both Google and IMDB have failed me. It is possible that it is simply reminiscent of other scores, but my memory tingle was very visceral. I could swear I know it. Any help would be appreciated.

I continue to think it is simply reminiscent of another 80’s score but I could swear that I knew it verbatim when I first heard it. And they play it consistently throughout Mulaney s show and every time I hear it I keep thinking I know it. Help is greatly appreciated.
That song and movie both rule. You should definitely watch it. The song itself got a lot of airtime on the radio, as well. I think Wang Chung is considered a one hit wonder but it's not quite true because that song was a hit as well.
But the song is definitely a theme song, which might just explain it altogether. I even get Peter Gunn vibes out of it once it speeds up.
Agreed. Just not sure where I know it so vividly from. Definitely getting the vibe from an 80’s film. Not the Friedkin one.
Do you mean right at the opening, about 6 seconds into the music video?: https://youtu.be/bf4x36XKhsM?si=CjBYTcffj4wWSex-&t=6
Man, this is bugging me now, too.
Yes! That little bit. I keep thinking of Axel Foley and / or Val Killer in "Real Genius". It's that little tingle notes. It is SUPER reminiscent.
It reminds me of I'm Falling by Comsat Angels. The song is in Real Genius
I know this song and from this film but it's not it.
Beverly Hills Ninja?
Too late. Not 90’s. Definitely early mid 80's.
is it possible it is the goosebumps theme? that was the first thing i thought of
