Now that the OP has clarified how broad the request is, I think they would have been better off asking Google instead of the forum... You end up with a seemingly endless list of lists of the greatest soundtracks of all time. Perhaps they are more interested in the odd anecdotal preferences here, but Google could provide lists based on sales, aggregate reviews of critics or fans, or curated by editors, industry professionals, etc.

    Here's just one example:
AFI’s 100 YEARS OF FILM SCORES

I was wondering if it would be worth picking up. I have his first four albums excluding B-2 unit, because im not sure how a hybrid sacd remaster is gonna sound. I've heard the title track in many forms. Just not the rest of the album

I still get shivers when I hear the opening theme music. And the rest is wonderfully diverse and evocative... kind of a longer version of the Voyager golden record.

A killer collection of Danny Elfman' best scores, and of course, anything with Bernard Herrmann' name on it.

When it comes to ‘Blade Runner’, this has to be the definitive version. The official Vangelis album is like a highlights disc in comparison.

Not only the two best entries in a great film franchise, but also graced with the presence of Slowhand's axe and the late David Sanborn's saxophone. Music crafted to custom fit the Riggs and Murtaugh characters and personalities.

I dread to think how many soundtracks I have. Some I've bought without seeing the film . The last one I played and enjoyed was High Fidelity on cd. My latest hobby is steadily buying the Ennio Morricone soundtracks
