Work computer suddenly did a factory reset

I logged into my work computer this morning (dell optiplex 7070 that has had issues for years). Everything was fine when I logged in but the computer is really slow so while it booted up I walked away, when I came back to the computer it had started doing a reset without my knowledge. After it acted like it was a completely new computer fresh out of the box and I'm not able to log into with my work credentials. It forced me to make a user profile just to get into the computer which of course is now completely wiped. I no longer have access to any work files, software, etc. It is completely wiped. I can't even pull up edge because it acts like i'm not connected to the internet, but says I am connected. I've tried to do a file restore but it says there is nothing to restore.

If it's a work computer, perhaps your employer's IT department can help.

Before you panic, it's possible that the problem is just that your profile became corrupted and you've logged into a temporary profile. See this thread: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/my-profile-is-not-opening-and-a-temp-profile-was/0ea823d6-97be-4416-a77e-fc2a66e406d2
