Women secretly all want a man like Jeremy Clarkson - I know exactly why

The balding, pot-bellied 64-year-old TV presenter has been voted Britain's sexiest man for the second year in a row, and here's why, writes Carole Malone.

Jeremy Clarkson has been voted Britain’s sexiest man – for the second year in a row. The balding, ageing, pot-bellied 64-year-old TV presenter has beaten heartthrobs Cillian Murphy, Idris Elba, Hollywood legend, Tom Holland - even Prince William.

So how can it be that a bloke with three chins and a belly that’s so big it doesn’t even look like it belongs to his body - and should maybe even have a TV series of its own - have women all over the country swooning?

And I think the answer might lie in the fact that women are way more mature when it comes to picking their men than men are at picking women.

Blokes want their woman to be stunners. Good-looking men think they’re entitled to have great-looking women and want them as damn near perfect as possible.

Whereas women don’t (well not as much). They want humour, they want fun, they want kindness, gentleness and I think Clarkson has all of those in spades.

OK, I’m not forgetting the fact he’s fabulously rich and that’s always a pull factor whether women choose to admit it or not.

But I think his cash is a very small part of why women are attracted to him.

Anyone who’s watched Clarkson’s Farm – and I’ve just started on Series 3 – will see that the bloke can be in fits of laughter one minute (usually when he’s sparring with Caleb) and weeping like a baby the next.

Last week it was when his beloved cows, all of which he had names for, had to be sent for slaughter.

And women love all that. We love men who aren’t afraid to cry, and who are in touch with their emotions.

We also love men who can make us laugh, who have twinkly, mischievous eyes and who have the kind of humour that makes them laugh at themselves before they laugh at anyone else.

Interesting that research shows that women like men who can make them laugh whereas men like woman who laugh at their jokes. Which says a whole lot more about their ego than their sense of humour.

And Yes, we all like blokes who are kind and caring and sensitive. We never saw that side of Clarkson on Top Gear- he was always one of the lads there. But we see the softer side of him on Clarkson’s Farm.

I especially like Clarkson because of his terrifying intelligence and the fact he can write in a way I can only dream about. Also he doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty and he’s devoid of ego – all of which make him attractive to women.

You’ve just got to look at his gorgeous girlfriend, the ex-Irish model, Lisa Hogan, who’s been with him for seven years now, to know he’s got something the "hunks" haven’t.

The idea that all women love fabulously hunky guys with perfectly toned bodies and perfect (fake) tans is a fallacy. Because women understand the huge amount of work that goes into a man looking perfect. We know how much time they have to spend thinking about themselves, preening themselves, taking care of themselves to look that perfect.

We see that they have an ego that needs to be constantly fed and experience tells us they could probably never love any woman as much as they love themselves.

And the thing about really good-looking blokes is that they’re used to women finding them physically attractive. So they don’t feel they have to try that hard.

I’m not saying looks don’t count - they do. But I think most women would gravitate to a funny, not-so-great-looking guy than a great-looking guy who is devoid or charisma, personality and whose not terribly bright.

Because whether women realise it or not we’re all looking for a mate, someone to spend our lives with. And you can't have a fun, interesting, love-filled relationship with a bloke who’s got nothing to say, who spends more time in front of the mirror than you and who loves himself way more than he could ever love any woman.

That’s why I’m on Team Clarkson !!!!!!
