Is New England Patriots Rookie Receiver Worth a Dynasty Pick in Fantasy Football? - Athlon Sports Skip to main content

The New England Patriots new-look offense comes with new-look receivers. The Pats group of newcomers is headlined by second round pick out of Washington Ja'Lynn Polk.

Polk had a massive season in the Huskies' prolific offense in 2023, catching 69 passes for 1,159 yards and 9 touchdowns along with a rushing score.

But what is his viability for dynasty fantasy players who will be looking to draft the next rookie sensation to their squads?

Ja’Lynn Polk

Pro Football Focus broke down the pros and cons of the rookie and made the case as to where he should be valued.

"Polk’s formation versatility and strong hands could make him an excellent big slot who can destroy zone coverage. He may not possess the elite vertical speed to become Maye’s go-to guy for big shots down the field, but his run-after-catch ability and contested-catch expertise make him a threat to work the short and intermediate range of the field, which presents plenty of fantasy value," the site said, adding that Polk should be valued as a second-round pick in dynasty.

The consensus on Polk's weaknesses seems to be similar since the draft, with scouts arguing that he lacks the top-end quickness required to be an elite wide receiver in today's NFL.

While Polk may never necessarily be an elite WR-1 (which is unfortunately exactly what this Patriots offense needs to take the next step), his body control, ball tracking, and excellent hands make his floor extremely high.

Regardless of where you draft Polk in fantasy this year, he will be a huge part of what is a new era in New England.
