Has there been a fake movie from a real movie turned into a real movie.
Like in the movie Tropic Thunder, what if they actually made that fake movie into a real movie. I’m not saying I want that movie, but was discussing this with a friend and we both wondered if that has been done before. We both were thinking of movies where they were making a fake movie and it spiralled into this. So I ask you people of Reddit, has this been done before.
Edit: So this idea we had was a fictional behind the scenes making of movie (not documentary) of a fake movie. Then that fake movie would be released after the BTS movie.
grindhouse's fake trailers have almost all become real films at this point. most recently, thanksgiving. machete and hobo with a shotgun were the others.
We’re just missing Edgar Wright’s “Don’t” and Rob Zombie’s “Werewolf Women of the SS”
Edgar wright making a weird modern version of the living dead at manchester morgue would be sick.
But... He did.
No, that was Westchester. It all blew over.
I am extremely upset that we never got Werewolf Women of the SS.
...With Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu!
😳
I can't watch the video at this moment, I'm on public transport
I'm still waiting for "The Night the Reindeer Died" from the beginning of Scrooged.
"You've been a real good boy this year, Lee"
He did make a song though.
There is Ilsa, She Wolf of the SS. But it's not that good
It does have a piss fetish scene, though
IIRC Zombie said he shot enough material to make a short movie. The world needs more Cage as Fu Manchu.
Edgar Wright has expressed that he has no interest in making a full version of “Don’t” because he said “all the best bits are already in the trailer”.
I'm legitimately surprised Rob Zombie hasn't made "Werewolf Women of the SS" yet
Hobo with a shotgun was surprisingly pretty good. Perfectly captured that bizarre, nihilistic 80s low budget exploitation film feeling
It also perfectly captured the kind of movie Rutger Hauer made practically his whole career. Outside of a handful of big budget films, Hauer almost never turned down a paycheck.
And yet he delivered one of the best monologues in film history IMO
Two of the best lol.
Tears in the rain
Hobo addressing the maternity ward
Did not realize Hobo with a shotgun came from there
it was actually the fake trailer that came with the real movie version of machete. And machete started as a fake trailer before planet terror.
Hobo with a Shotgun only played in before the Grindhouse movie in the US iirc, the rest of the world apparently didn’t have it.
Even with Robb Wells in it? I would've figured it was a Canadian film.
That is what wiki says “it is based on the faux-trailer of the same title featured in the Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino film Grindhouse (2007).“
Oh shit me neither
I was sad they didn’t make Thanksgiving take place in the 70’s and look like an old movie similar to the original trailer.
On that note, since this wan't what OP asked, but is still somewhat relevant, the Deadpool movie that came after Ryan leaked a CGI trailer of his Deadpool as a nod to: "hey I can do this, help me make it happen, people of the world"
Whaaaaat? Ryan didn't leak it! No one actually officially knows hoe it got leaked. *wink wink
Thanksgiving got a movie!!???? WHAT!?
Yeah, just last year, it's a really fun slasher flick.
Oh man I remember when Attack of the Show, showed the trailer for Hobo with a Shotgun. Really tripped me out, years later when I heard it was going to become a legit movie.
Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story.
Nothing disturbed me more about this movie more than the fact that they marooned Buzz. Not only that but they made him a screw up. The movie was such a bummer lol
What gets me is they actively didn’t want to be anything like the cartoon show because Lasseter apparently hated it.
Lasseter had been out of the company for 6 years now. He wasn't at Pixar when Lightyear was being developed.
That's the funny thing-- that cartoon was 100% believable as a show that tied in with the toy and the bed sheets, etc. Buzz was even rendered in the same art style as he was on the back of the box.
Can anybody honestly look at the toy, the merch, and the commercial from Toy Story 1 and tell me that looks like merchandise for the Lightyear movie? Or that Andy would go see that movie and get hooked on it? Or that the movie even reads as something that would come out in 1995? Lol no way
Yeah, the movie itself was actually pretty decent, but the themes and story are all very modern. The 1990s just weren’t doing LGBT relationships in mainstream movies (let alone kids movies,) and the plots tended to be a lot more straightforward with clear hero and villain. The bitter, old Buzz as the villain just didn’t feel very 90s: that plot became popular in the 2010s (The Flash tv show and movie, Lego Movie 2, etc.)
But Lasseter hated Lightyear
Lasseter: “Don’t make Buzz Lightyear of Star Command.”
makes Lightyear
Lasseter: “No, not like that.”
Pearls before fucking swine I swear
There was absolutely nothing about that flick that would lead to Andy wanting that toy. What we wanted was a space adventure action flick. What we got was navel gazing about mortality.
Ah the classic Disney formula of butchering beloved legacy heroes, never gets old!
Oh man that was a good movie and the series that followed was one of my favorites as well. Buzz Light-year of Star Command had a pretty good story if I remember correctly.
My first thought as well
There had to have been someone in the production of McBain asking if it was a Simpsons movie.
Someone on YouTube did make a super cut of all the clips in to one 5-10 min episode.
Edit: McBain movie high quality
MENDOZAAAAAAA!!!
That’s amazing
Not really. If you're talking about the Christopher Walken movie McBain, at least, that came out in 1991, same year as the first Simpsons bit. It's likely to have just been a coincidence with the naming
I'm still waiting for Angels with Filthy Souls
“You've been smoochin' with everybody! Snuffy, Al, Leo, Little Moe with the gimpy leg, Cheeks, Boney Bob, Cliff.”
"Its a lie!".
I burst into laughter just reading that. It’s my favourite line in all of Home Alone
“I could go on forever baby”
The name is a spoof on the real movie, Angels with Dirty Faces.
Great film too
‘Keep the change you filthy animal’
I'm still waiting for Hamlet from Last Action Hero.
NOT TO BE!
Such a fun Easter egg when it’s reused in Detective Pikachu.
And then we need the porn version, angels with filthy soles
We can get Tarantino to direct.
Not a movie, but the fake show MILF Island from 30 Rock basically became a reality show last year with MILF Manor on HBO.
Give Netflix enough time and we'll get Black Frasier too.
It’s on nbc every Thursday around 9 or 9:15.
This sherry's not the only thing that's fruity and precocious.
This joke. It’s amazing.
If we're doing TV shows, Chapelle's Show had the skit "Trading Spouses" as a spoof of Trading Spaces. And then the series Wife Swap premiered a couple years later. And there might have been a competing show about the same time actually called Trading Spouses, but I might be wrong about that.
Ted lasso also started out as a commercial
Fox came out with Trading Spouses: Meet Your New Mommy in 2004, a year after the Chappelle Show skit.
I’m still waiting for Celebrity Homonym.
“No, it’s the other one“
Sadly the world's not ready for bitch hunter.
And the point of MILF Island was that it was a ridiculous idea and yet, here we are.
Fingers crossed for Cleaver from the sopranos.
Forget Many Saints. Cleaver is the Sopranos movie we all wanted.
A couple years ago someone posted a poster from Cleaver on r/saw and some people thought it was a real upcoming sequel lol
They did a mockumentary making of Cleaver video. It’s on YouTube. It’s so funny
I must be loyle to my capo.
