Old rappers working on new albums in 2024: Ice Cube, Jadakiss, Missy Elliot, Ja Rule, Slick Rick, LL Cool J, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Xzibit

I'm so excited with these all these comebacks! Also unconfirmed:

  • Raekwon might be working on a new album

  • 50 Cent is contemplating

  • Ghostface Killah maybe Seems I've missed out but he's just released one!

  • Q-Tip possibly

LL is taking forever, was supposed to be out 2 years ago. With dre beats and eminem features

Isn’t Q-Tip exec producing it?

u/Birdzeye- avatar
Edited

The Dre album got scrapped. He’s releasing one with Q-Tip

u/didntmakeausername avatar

Dre and Snoop have an album

Not too sure about that. Yes qtip is doing majority but thought the em tracks were still there too. Who knows though, sick of artists scrapping stuff before we can even hear it. Dr Dre needs to be put in an asylum and someone needs to leak all of his shit.

u/Birdzeye- avatar

LL has said himself on podcasts that the Dre album isn’t coming out.

It also discusses it in this link

https://eminem.news/ll-cool-j-scrapped-dre.html

Damn thats weak. Thanks for the info. Remember Zoom? That was some good shit

u/technobrendo avatar

That's what I'm talking about!!!

Cite me the source about monch rumors bro, I’m geeked

Common and pete rock

nas and dj premier

I'm hyped for Common and PR. I would've been hyped out of this world for Nas & Premo 10-15 years ago but that one single they just released disappointed the fuck out of me.

Spice 1 dropped this year as well

It’s actually pretty dope too

Don't hold your breath for 50

I feel pretty confident 50 is going to be on Em's album.

That was basically confirmed I think but who knows it could just be another bullshit 30 second verse like his Magic 2 feature

A feature isn't the same as an album! I would LOVE to see a new 50 album. Even the music for his shows is good.

I choose to believe that he’s waiting to see if Ja Rule drops so he can drop on the same day

Just listened to a new Inspectah Deck interview and he has a album in the works produced by preemo, static and he mentioned some other a list producers

He's still not happy about the flood and uncontrolled substance because chamber number 9 didn't do as good as the movement

u/FrostyChemical8697 avatar

Cite the source bro I can’t find shit

Bagfuel. The album stuff is at the very end

I hope the Slick Rick album is well done. Art Of Storytelling was one of the first albums I really got into as a kid. I can’t believe that was his most recent release.

u/Gaz834 avatar

Crazy to think that was 25 years ago too lol

More replies

Are they all confirmed or just rumors?

u/theolympiafalls avatar

Either confirmed or strongly suggested by the artists themselves (you can google each one of them)

I thought roc nation shut down the jay album rumour?

u/harveydent526 avatar

Jay shut down the Jay album rumor.

2024 is promising to be an amazing year and has been so far for hiphop fans

I’m predicting this LL and QTip project will be the best out of all of em. Uncle Todd over Abstract beats? Gon be insane.

💯💯💯💯

I'm all for Hush part 2 songs. But it's already been years, sixed pack's faded, and raps outdated, but that's 20 yrs ago let's rush, little mama just hush

u/bil-sabab avatar

And for good time's sake it features random Canibus diss.

u/instinktd avatar

The Force was really good "teaser"

I hope this shit won't be scrapped

Ice cube rapping about his effective tax rate and why we need to elect Trump

u/Constant-Source581 avatar

lol

Straight outta cooked 💀

u/Gaz834 avatar

Yea im not excited for cube at all lol he hasnt put out a good album since the 90s imo

Edited

I live in a happy little world where he just retired after Lethal Injection. edit: I can’t tell time

u/JeffRulesYou avatar

Right around that time, I’d probably say after Lethal Injection and Westside Connection’s first album, which is ‘96. Would have been a damn fine run if he stopped there.

Oh shit. Morning coffee hadn’t kicked in yet. I amend my album comment to Lethal Injection. Not caffeinated enough me thought LI came out before Predator.

Ima defend LNCL and Raw Footage, other than that his lyrics nowadays kinda suck. Fuckin hurts to say but oh well 😮‍💨

u/bil-sabab avatar

He's been consistently not good to disappointing since the first west side connection album. He had a couple of good songs here and there but nothing to build a momentum on. Not that he really cares, those movie checks seem nice

u/Gaz834 avatar

Your dead right on that, it sucks how far he fell off after the predator (which was still sub par compared to everything before it)

u/bil-sabab avatar

I guess he never really figured out where to move next theme and concept wise after doing conscious hip hop so he slipped back into gangsta tropes. A true colab with Del would've been nice. Hell, make it a Sci fi Black Elvis style psych out and bring Yoyo too. Cibe had a chance to bounce back when he hooked up with Dre again in 94 but then Dre left Death Row and Helta Skeltah album was abandoned and later on Cube didn't wanted to join Aftermath so he was done for good.

I'm happy we still getting new music from the legends.

Rakim

u/NGNSteveTheSamurai avatar

Lead single off the Ice Cube album is gonna be called “Love The Police”.

Police Academy

More replies

Might not be liked for this but Will Smith said hes dropping an album after bad boys comes out

That album will definitely slap.

u/ogplaya25 avatar

Underrated comment😂😂😂

Will definitely slaps

u/bil-sabab avatar

And it features an assortment of vaporwave and rage beats and random yeat features and also Ian vs 4bats mini rap battle on a posse cut and then Carti gets a solo song and it's the only real hit off the album.

More replies

Lauren Hill is apparently releasing too, but don't hold your breath on that one.

Tech N9ne is about to drop a new Collabos

u/CDC_ avatar

To be fair Tech is always about to drop something.

Dunno any other artist with his work ethic

These guys make comeback albums like every 3 or 4 years and have never actually "come back", except for Jay Z and Em.

and nas. his run with hit boy even rivaled his peak.

Yeah for sure. He'd be at the top of my list for "older" rappers.

More replies
u/theolympiafalls avatar

No actually. LLCJ his first in 11 years. Xzibit & Ja Rule first in 12 years. Missy first in 19 years. Slick Rick first in 25 years. These are long comebacks.

u/Guilty-Willingness-2 avatar

I’ve been waiting for Q Tip’s The Last Zulu for almost ten years

Out this list, I’m here for Jada and Em. Would love if Fab dropped also.

Snoop isn't really having a comeback he never stopped making albums. He must have released like 10 projects in the last 15 years

u/theolympiafalls avatar

True but they all flopped anyway. His new one is a sequel to the classic Doggystyle and Dre is producing it... so in my book it is a true comeback.

More replies

Also lauryn hill rumours, hard to believe it might actually happen

u/guiltycitizen avatar

Slick Rick doesn’t age, he levels up

u/instinktd avatar

Juvenile said that Hot Boys (Juvenile, BG, Turk and Wayne) will work on album

Tha Dogg Pound droppin 31/05 and these 2 singles they dropped were nice

Ghostface should also drop Supreme Clientele 2, this one he dropped recently was "appetizer"

u/didntmakeausername avatar

You forgot nas and premier. Also I'm convinced the LL one isn't coming out lmao, it's been delayed like 2 years and no word of it

u/ucksaymyockcay avatar

I wish Sabac Red would drop

I think I speak for everyone when I say we need a new 50 album.

I think 50 lost his edge in making music.

Have you watched any of his shows? He's still on point. He just found more lucrative hustles.

Yea I did. They cool for shows. But making music for shows and a project is two total separate things.

Not really.. I mean.. sure there are differences but if he can produce shows of that caliber (with music just as good)... I doubt he would have any issues making a new album. He's always on point when he puts effort into something.

The guy doesn't miss.

more replies More replies

I will say this though. The first time I watched BMF and Power, I was like damn these are the best shows I have ever watched in my life.

And then I watched Snowfall. There's always better.

But 50 doesn't miss that's for sure.

Wait didn't Jay say outright he wasn't working on new music? I swear I read that somewhere

MC Lyte is working on a new project.

Lauryn Hill said her second album will be done “soon.” 👀

u/ChernobylDrew avatar

Very cool to be honest

Eminem and Ghostface drop pretty consistently.

Love Jada but his albums are always ehhhh

Jay is usually solid

Nobody gives a fuck about Missy, Xzibit, or Ja.

u/beatsbyal avatar

dont put Xzibit in there...

More replies

Pumped for Rae because he chooses dope beats. We will see about the rest but I’m guessing the beat selections will be trash. Slick Rick might be promising. He was dope on that muggs beat with method man

Interested in none of if

I was never a big Jay-Z fan but he's been out the rap game so long I'm excited to see what he comes out with. Missy is always excellent. Production will be on point I'm guessing.

I'll peep most of these artists' new projects but those are the two that have me most interested at the moment.

u/07bot4life avatar

I was never a big Jay-Z fan but he's been out the rap game so long I'm excited to see what he comes out with.

To me I wonder what he'll rap about. Like if he raps about being rich on 13 tracks it's a pass. But if it's more 4:44 style, then it'll be really good.

u/bil-sabab avatar

Magna Carta Holy Grail Flashbacks...

u/LePopegory avatar

Another no I.d produced album would be sick

u/technobrendo avatar

As long as Timbo makes s few tracks it'll be fire for sure

Jay's recent GOD DID was amazing (well, his parts of it were). If he's bringing work of even half that quality to his new projects it'll be a slam dunk.

u/theolympiafalls avatar

Jay-Z's last album was from 2017 which is still fairly recent. Many of the others are releasing their first in 15 or 20+ years.
