Edreams Prime membership SCAM!

Hello,

I'm writing as a warning to the people - watch out for Edreams, they are dangerous scammers!

I was buying a plane ticket on Edreams site and there was an option to choose a regular way of payment - which demanded more money or "the Prime membership" way which was 0 euros - there wasn't any warning saying that my account would be charged if I already used their membership trial period.

And now I just received an outrageous email regarding my Prime membership saying that they charged me 89.99 euros for that?!

What kind of scam is this??

I have never experienced this kind of fraud and stealing in my life.

What gives them the right to charge my account without my approval?

That's totally unacceptable!

This is illegal!

And they won't get away with it, trust me, I know my rights - my mother is a jurist and I studied law myself.

And they must know I will not tolerate fraud or criminal actions.

I don't care about Prime membership, especially in this mode of tricking me into paying them.

If I don't receive confirmation from them in the next 24 hours that they will refund the money they charged from my account for the membership I didn't want, I will report this:

1. To my bank that my account was charged without my consent

2. To the police, that I was robbed and scammed by Edreams

3. To my lawyer to take immediate legal action on my part.

4. I will spread the word about this on every social media and rating platform available.

People must be warned not to make the same mistake as me!

And I can see online that I'm definitely not the only one.

Interesting that you studied law, but yet fail to understand a very simple contract.

Right at the first page after a flight search is stated "Prime price 30-day free trial". Latest here you should have asked yourself what happens after the 30 days.

All you would have had to do is click on the link below the price that says "Discover Prime" and on the pop-up page you would have seen "30-day FREE trial Cancel anytime online. Otherwise, the trial will change to a paid membership after 30 days at either €89.99/year (Prime Plus) or €69.99/year (Prime).".

At that page you also find the link to the T&Cs for the Prime membership.

" which demanded more money or "the Prime membership" way which was 0 euros - there wasn't any warning saying that my account would be charged if I already used their membership trial period."

On the payment pages, they make it pretty clear that for the Prime price:

"Try Prime for free for 30 days. Cancel anytime online or stay for $69.99 per year"

"What gives them the right to charge my account without my approval?"

It also says at the bottom "By subscribing, you accept the terms and conditions. You can cancel anytime from your account by clicking “cancel my subscription""

So you are are agreeing to it all when you click that.

For many of these travel sites, they bombard with with tons of add-ons, so you have to read carefully about what you select and look at what you're agreeing to.

You should contact Interpol. They are an international company.

As for the rest the only one that may have an impact is number 4. Go on social media and tell the story. As for the rest good luck with that. Just remember to cancel before next year when they charge you again.

At least forty threads here already about this membership and thousands of posts warning not to use this company. You aren’t special. You aren’t first.

You have to do research before using a company for the first time and you have to read what you are agreeing to when you check the I Agree to the Terms and Conditions box.

Brilliant, please let us know how you get on with the police and your proposed legal action

Well, edreams will just respond to his bank that here’s the terms and conditions he accepted without bothering to read because he’s smart enough to have a lawyer, but not smart enough to read any of the terms and conditions. as for his lawyer and the police I’m sure his lawyer Will be glad to take his money

Oh, and the social media threat😂 That is so effective because people like this poster check reviews before they spend money. Oh wait , apparently this poster didn’t.

You want something effective? make a promise to yourself. I won’t spend money on the Internet again without doing research.

And I doubt they'd view libel favourably.

This thread is very amusing. Ljudevit Lausin clearly doesn't bother to read small print before accepting it as the Prime free trial T&Cs WERE there for him to have read had he chosen to look!

In his original post Ljudevit proudly tells us that "..I know my rights - my mother is a jurist and I studied law myself..." , but not what specialism (there are many) and to what level? As for his mother being a juror ( I assume that is the word he meant to use) are jurors in court cases not simply members of the general public rather than legal experts?

@ Ljudevit ,from what you have described and said, I am afraid that you do not appear to be nearly as expert at legal matters as you profess to be. There is a Latin phrase "Caveat Emptor" often used in consumer cases which roughly translated means "buyer beware" - did you do that when signing yourself up to the Prime trial - no you clearly did not! Anyone well versed in consumer law would have been very careful to pay much attention at all to the small print connected to signing up to the free Prime 30 day trial (info which WAS there on the website had you bothered to read it).

Can I suggest that you forget involving your lawyer (whose fees will undoubtedly cost you more than the 89.99 Euros you are trying to recover) , your bank or the police (who have better things to be bothered with even IF your complaint as valid which I do not think it is) when the sad truth of the matter is that YOU are responsible for lumbering yourself with having to pay E 89.99 for a Prime membership you do not want.

I suggest that you now concentrate on reading the small print about how to cancel your eDreams Prime membership now that you have enrolled yourself onto it . If you don't cancel following the cancellation process set out on the website to the letter, you will find another annual subscription deducted from your account when it renews as the T&Cs which you accepted but didn't bother to read show that membership is an auto-renewing membership one!
