WARREN, Ohio (MyValleyTributes) – Fredrick William Schwab, a lifelong resident of Warren, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at the age of 86.

He was born on February 18, 1938, in Warren, Ohio, to George William Schwab and Margaret Ann Parti Schwab.

Fred was a passionate and accomplished individual with a wide range of interests. He was a dedicated birdwatcher, avid fisherman and train enthusiast. Fred’s love for nature extended to his role as a master gardener, showcasing his green thumb and nurturing plants to thrive. He also had a particular fondness for sweets and anything with chocolate.

Throughout his life, Fred made significant contributions to various organizations and communities. He was honored with the prestigious Melvin E. Jones Award from the Lions Club of Warren for his outstanding service. As a wildlife educator, he shared his knowledge and passion for the natural world, inspiring others to appreciate and protect wildlife. Fred was one of the founding members of the Northeastern Ohio Mustang Club and served as a board member for the Western Reserve Boy Scouts of America Council.

Among his joys in life, Fred cherished the early morning hunt, observing birds in their natural habitat, and spending quality time with his beloved pet, Roxie, who often found a comfortable spot on his lap. He had the opportunity to travel to some wonderful places including National Parks in Portland, Maine and the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Fred was an enthusiastic supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.

He held a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Hiram College.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Fred found immense joy in his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda F. Schwab, whom he married on March 11, 1991. He will be deeply missed by his children, Lorraine Schwab (Scott) of Warren and Will Schwab (Annette) of Florida, as well as his stepchildren, Lori Hauser of Toledo and Michelle Moss (John) of Cortland, Ohio. Fred was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren, Lauren Cash (Matthew Cash), Kayla Donaldson, Haley Donaldson, Jordan Schwab (Samantha), Casey Schwab, Madelyn Moss, Ella Moss and Isabel Moss. He also adored his four great-grandchildren, Grayson Cash, Garret Cash, Cadence Schwab and Teagan Schwab.

Fred’s memory will forever be cherished by family and friends who were touched by his kindness, dedication and zest for life. His legacy as a respected banker, loyal friend and wildlife educator will endure, leaving a lasting impact on those he encountered.
 

Family and friends may visit and pay tribute to Fred on Monday, May 20, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the Peter Rossi & Son Memorial Chapel of Warren, 1884 North Road NE, where a funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m.

Fred will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
