Reacher Is a Huge Priority For Amazon

It's Been A Massive Success On Prime Video

Between Reacher’s success, early renewal, filming updates, and now, release window for next year, it is clear that the series is a huge priority for Prime Video.

Reacher season 1 premiered in February 2022. The sophomore season came just under two years later, debuting its first three episodes on December 15, 2023. Nonetheless, by the time Reacher season 2 aired, the series had already been renewed for season 3. Because the release date will come in 2025, this means that Reacher season 3 will come over a year after the season 2 debut.

There are some promising signs, however, that Reacher season 3 will come closer to the beginning than the end of the broad 2025 range. For one, the series has already begun filming, boding well for the progress of their production. Set photos from April of this year show the Reacher team filming in Millbrook, Ontario. The update from Ritchson that Reacher season 3 is coming in 2025 is additionally promising for the season’s development.

Given Reacher’s history, it is no surprise that season 3 is making such promising progress. Reacher has been a massive success for Prime Video so far. Reacher season 2 was particularly successful for the network, as it became the no. 1 most viewed title globally (across both movies and TV) in under a week. Now, Reacher is considered one of the most fruitful television efforts in Prime Video’s history.

Between Reacher’s success, early renewal, filming updates, and now, release window for next year, it is clear that the series is a huge priority for Prime Video. This prioritization will likely also mean that Reacher will come sooner rather than later in the 2025 release window. Hopefully, Reacher season 3 will get an official release date soon after Ritchson’s tease as filming progress continues on the hit Prime Video series.

What To Expect From Reacher Season 3

Cast, Story, & More

Persuader has been praised as gripping and suspenseful, which should make it suitable source material for season 3 of the show.

Given the anthological nature of Childs' novels, it's difficult to predict who will return as part of the Reacher season 3 cast. Of course, Ritchson will return as Reacher, and Sten is also confirmed to reprise her role as Frances Neagely, a corporate security professional who served with Reacher. The remaining supporting cast members will likely be newcomers, since each season introduces a new adventure and fresh faces for Reacher to interact with.

Season 3 has already cast several new actors, such as Anthony Michael Hall as the corrupt businessperson Zachary Beck, and Sonya Cassidy as DEA agent Susan Duffy. Brian Tee will take on the role of Quinn, a villain with ties to Reacher's mysterious past. Johnny Berchtold is set to play Richard Beck, a college student involved in an attempted kidnapping that sets off the events of the season. Additionally, some of Reacher's new allies include Roberto Montesinos as DEA agent Guillermo Villanueva and Daniel David Stewart as rookie DEA agent Steven Elliot. The confirmed cast for season 3 includes:

After much speculation about which of Childs' novels would inspire season 3, Ritchson settled the debate in January 2024 when he confirmed that Persuader will serve as the source material. The seventh Reacher book follows the titular character as he helps dismantle a formidable drug kingpin's empire by going undercover. Simultaneously, Reacher must rescue an undercover DEA Agent who is dangerously close to blowing their cover while deeply embedded in the operation. Persuader has been praised as gripping and suspenseful, which should make it suitable source material for season 3 of the show.

Although each season has used Childs' novels as a starting point, Reacher season 3 won't strictly adhere to the book's storyline, as indicated by the continued inclusion of Frances Neagely, who doesn't appear in Persuader. In the show, Neagely has been Reacher's trusted partner and confidant for the first two seasons, and with Sten set to reprise her role, that should continue to be the case in Reacher season 3.

Reacher seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Prime Video. Season 1 is also streaming on Freevee.
