2024 LPRT Sweet Caroline Open - Preview

The 2024 Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) Sweet Caroline Open - the penultimate event of the 2023-24 LPRT season - begins Friday in Greenville, South Carolina. The field of 23 players is led by LPRT #1 Maria Jose Vargas, who will be looking to win her fifth title of the season, and second consecutive after winning last month’s Battle at the Alamo in San Antonio. Overall, 17 of the top 20 LPRT players will be competing in Greenville.

The interest in doubles surrounds Michelle Key and Carla Muñoz, who were surprise finalists last month in San Antonio. They are seeded 4th this weekend, and will face 5th seeds Gabriela Martinez and Jessica Parrilla in the quarterfinals with a win putting them in the semi-finals, most likely pitting them against top seeds Alexandra Herrera and Montserrat Mejia, who defeated Key and Muñoz in the San Antonio final.

Play begins Friday at 9 AM with the Round of 32 in singles with the Round of 16 from 2 PM on. The singles quarterfinals will be Saturday morning at 10 and 11 AM with the semi-finals at 4 and 5 PM. The doubles quarterfinals will be Friday night at 6 and 7 PM with the semi-finals at 6 and 7 PM Saturday. The finals will be Sunday at 11 AM (singles) and noon (doubles).
