She was born in Monroe County, GA and attended the Monroe County Schools, receiving her high school diploma. Before her retirement, she was employed in the housekeeping industry for 30+ years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to R&B music. Her hobbies included doing puzzles, journaling, and sewing quilts for her family. She also loved to travel and visit family.
Mrs. Richards is survived by her sister Ann Stewart of Atlanta GA . She was preceded in death by six sisters, Mozelle Keith, Lucille Keith, Willie “Ruth” Richards, Mary Smith, Roxie Lee Stewart, and Elizabeth Dunn. Mrs. Richards was married to Willie Richards Sr. for 52 years; he preceded her in death, in
2008. In this union, nine children were born. HIS SUNRISE..... Bishop Charlie Lewis Charles, 90 years old was born on September 5, 1931, in Daytona Beach, Florida. He was Affectionately known during his Life Journey as "Sonny Boy" "Raymond" "Chewing Gum” and “Rev."
On June 30, 2021, Bishop Charles Celebrated 74 years of Marriage to Missionary Mrs. Mildred L. Williams Charles and from their union they had 9 children.
REFLECTIONS OF HIS LEGACY.....
Bishop Charles began his education at Bonner Elementary School and his high school studies at Campbell Street High School in Daytona Beach, Florida he completed his high school education at Continental Academy in Coral Gables, Florida. He enjoyed sports and got the opportunity to play Semi-Professional Baseball in the 1950's. In the 1960's he was very active in the Civil Rights Movement and was designated by the local NAACP to assist the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Members when they came to Daytona Beach, the SCLC Members were accommodated with food and lodging in his home at 444 South Caroline Street. His Life Journey took him in another direction...He completed 4 years of Seminary Training at the Church of God By Faith, Inc., Ocala, Florida and in 1980, he received his Certification as an Ordained Elder. In 1993, he was awarded the Doctor of Divinity Degree from Saint Gregory Theological Seminary, Grand Junction, Colorado. He was a Member of Butts Miracle Temple Church of God In Christ and on July 13, 2018, he was Ordained as a Bishop within the Church of God In Christ of East Coast Florida. Bishop Charles served as Pastor in Churches in Eustis, East Palatka, and Hastings, Florida he also served as Pastor of the Calvary Grace Church of God In Christ Mission in Daytona Beach, Florida for over 15 years. He was also a member of the Christian Ministers Association and the Westside Business Association, where he received the “Member of the Year Award" He was a member of the Police and Ministers Association. In 2001, Bishop Charles was an NAACP Honoree of the "Pathfinder for Excellence Award” in 2007 he was an Honoree as a “Juneteenth Hometown Hero.” Bishop Charles was founder and President of the "Hedges and Highways Prison Outreach Ministry" and for over 40 years his Ministry was broadcasted on local Radio Stations (WELE, WPUL, WAPN-91.5) HIS SUNSET.....DECEMBER 25, 2021

Obituary Preview: Willie Mae Session, 78, passed away unexpectedly in the intensive Care Unit at Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach on November 26, 2021.
She was born on January 1, 1943, to Mamie Jones and Willie Lee Edwards in Daytona Beach, Florida. Willie Mae received her formative education in the Daytona Beach public school system. She graduated from Daytona Beach Community College with a Nursing degree (AND), Attended Florida A & M University, in her entry to higher education and later graduated from Bethune Cookman Collage with a BS in Nursing and graduated from the University of Florida with an MSN, and graduated from the University of South Florida with a DNP.
She worked as a nurse throughout her life. She worked in two nursing units at Halifax Hospital and finally in the educational unit at Halifax, where she retired after 27 years. She left Halifax and joined the educational staff at Bethune Cookman in order to help other nursing students succeed. She retired at Bethune Cookman as Dean of Nursing.
She leaves to forever cherish her memory: her beloved Husband Johnny Van Session, Her loving Daughter Vanessa Glover (James Glover), Grandchildren: Tyrone Monroe, JR. Tynisha Monroe, Destiny Glover and Mahogany Glover, two sisters: Mary and Martha Edwards of Orlando, Florida. Sister-in-law, Mona Edwards and various nieces and nephews in throughout the United States; good friends, students and nursing associates.

"Woody" as he is affectionately known by his friends and family was born on January 5, 1931 in Boston, Georgia. He spent his early childhood in Georgia and New York and at age nine, his family moved to Florida. He attended primary and secondary schools in Volusia County and graduated from Campbell High School in 1949. He was the son of the late Annie B. Woody (Bennett) and David Woody, Sr. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Sammie Lee Woody, daughter Brenda Woody (Bartow), and brother David Woody Jr. He leaves three daughters, Elizabeth Woody Fennell (Jerome), Denver, CO; Ruby Woody, Newark, NJ, Beatrice Woody, Kissimmee, FL and three sons, Willie Woody, Jr, Daytona Beach, FL; Ron Woody (Vorice), Larkspur, CO and Carlos Woody (Debra), Ormond Beach, FL. He also leaves two grandsons; Roderick Fennell and Michael Cobb, eight granddaughters; Sharmane Koonce, Kristal Fennell, Cydnee Cobb, Erica Woody, Jennifer Woody, Lauren Woody, Yolanda Woody, and Kristen Woody and three great-granddaughters, Azziah Cobb, Ebony Cobb and Laylani Cobb.
In his early twenties, Woody worked as a shipping clerk and pullman porter for Florida East Coast Railroad. After four years of working on the railroad, Woody transitioned to the pest control industry where he spent over four decades working in the pest control industry in Volusia County, and eventually founded and owned a very successful pest control business until his retirement in 2003.
Woody was an avid bowler and volunteered as a coach for children's bowling leagues for many years. Woody was elected as the first black president of the Daytona Beach Bowling Association and served on its board of directors for many years. Woody was a member of Allen Chapel AME church for over 70 years and served on the Trustee Board and numerous other committees and was a member of the Men's Usher Board.

Dorothy Mae Myers was born to Della Williams Robinson and Willie Robinson on June 26, 1937 in Fairfax, South Carolina. She was the oldest of eight children, seven sisters and one brothers. At the early age of 18, Dorothy was saved on June 17, 1955. With the deeds perpetually exampled to her, she began to faithfully engage in the work of the Lord immediately after. She attended Fairfax training school and graduated class of 1958. In the same year, she moved to Daytona Beach, Florida and married Deacon Virdell Myers. While living in Florida, she served as an employee of the Volusia County schools. In addition to her occupation, Dorothy accomplished a definite amount of work in the church and community. In the year of 1962, she received a certificate as a switch board operator, she held the position of local superintendent of Sunday school and was awarded Sunday school teacher of the year in both 1975-1976 and 1982-1983. Mother Myers was vice president of the Ladies M. Auxiliary and assistant state president of Home Missions. Dorothy was also the district fellowship president and the district L.M.A choir president in the year of 83. She received her master in Christian service training diploma in 1984. Dorothy also served as a devoted member of community prayer watchers, Florida state women of the year, and PTA of Sweetwater elementary. Evangelist, Mother Dorothy Mae Myers would want to be remembered as a servant of God and amazing mother to many. She quotes "remember that God loves you and I do too. Especially you and you. Betty Grace Cook - January 01, 2000 - July 29, 2021

Obituary Preview: Betty Grace Aspinwall Cook, RN, BSN, died peacefully on July 29th at the Stuart F Meyer Hospice House at the age of 79. She was attended by the love of her life, Ernest C. Cook, Jr. MD, and is remembered with love and affection by her family and friends. She was born on May 18, 1942 to Nolan and Vonice Aspinwall, in St. Augustine, Florida and spent much of her young life in rural Georgia. The family of a childhood friend encouraged her to attend the Leland Powers School of Dramatic Arts to pursue an acting career. Family brought her back to Jacksonville, where she performed at the Jacksonville Little Theater. She then focused on a career in nursing. She met Ernest Cook in their mutual apartment complex, who was then a resident physician. At that time, she was the Director of Nursing at the Shriners Children's Hospital in Jacksonville. He pursued her and after an extended courtship, they married. Upon returning to Ernie's hometown of Daytona Beach, they set up Atlantic Family Practice, and together worked tirelessly to create a medical practice that cared for the wealthy and underserved alike. While managing the practice, Betty also created the Volusia County Sickle Cell Disease Foundation. She was the executive director for the Volusia County Human Immunodeficiency Disease Free Clinic. She was the associate director for the Memorial Hospital Hospice/Palliative Care Services and later for Halifax Health Hospice and Palliative Care. She gave much time to the Halifax Humane Society and to the Sickle Cell Foundation of Florida. Betty was an avid reader. With Ernie, she raised many dogs and cats—from show winners to rescue animals. Their home was a sanctuary for birds, fish, and other creatures. She was always available to her friends and neighbors, during times of need and celebration. Her life and legacy are remembered by her husband, her sons Michaud Cook, Frank Mastroainni, Anthony Mastroainni; grandchildren Grace, Maxwell, Ernie and Maya Mastroianni, Michaud Cook, Jr. and Malasia Cook; her daughters-in-law Latisha Cook, Michell Mastroianni, Kelli Mastroanni; her mother-in-law Alice Cook, and her dearest friend Deb Stack. A local celebration of her life will be held at home. Donations in remembrance can be directed to the Halifax Health Hospice, Stuart F Meyer Hospice and the Halifax Humane Society.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Wynton Fryer, Bernard Fryer and his sister, Bonnie Fryer. He grew up in Daytona Beach, FL, where he graduated from Campbell Sr. High in 1968 and Bethune-Cookman College, with his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration (1972). Mr. Fryer was among one of the first groups of Black firefighters in Daytona Beach. He relocated to Lewisville, TX where he spent many years. Roland retired from Xerox Corp in Texas in 1993 and returned to Florida as a caregiver for his parents.
Roland became well known for his famous brisket and ribs. In addition to his love for barbecue, he loved playing golf, listening to jazz, watching movies and going to the dog track. Rolands' great sense of humor, positive attitude, love for life and the best barbecue in town was an inspiration to everyone he encountered.
Roland G. Fryer, Sr., was called home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2021.

Many will remember her as a strong, honest and direct woman, but, she will also be remembered for her delicious Sweet Potato Pies and her delectable Red Velvet Cakes. One of the most important activities she enjoyed was working in childcare because of the love she had for children. She continued to pour into the lives of those around her until the Lord called her home.

Later, Patricia would go on to serve as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for several years before returning to her alma mater BCC where she served as a Health Careers Opportunity Program Counselor/ Coordinator. Pat believed it a calling from God to teach and lead the youth of Volusia County.
Patricia continually exercised her reverence and faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She came to know the Lord at an early age and never lost faith. She was a Christian who loved and cared for her family and her beloved son Austin.
Patricia made her transition on Thursday, March 25th, 2021. She is preceded in death by her brothers; Charles Kurtis (Veryl- also deceased), Robert Lee Jones, and Alphonso Jones (April). Left to continue her legacy of service are her son, Austin J. Davis of Jacksonville, Florida, her only sister, Lennette J Stewart of Daytona Beach, Florida, and her brother Henry D. Jones (Gwendolyn) of Miramar, Florida. Soon after, he joined the United States Army making him a proud Veteran of the Vietnam War in which he served 2 tours as Platoon Leader.He was a paratrooper with the 82ndAirborne Division and the 173rd Airborne Brigade. For his service, he earned 2 Purple Hearts. He served honorably achieving the rank of Sergeant. He returned to his hometown and briefly served as a Police Officer for the City of Daytona Beach before deciding to return to Bethune-Cookman College. He earned his degree in Business Administration in 1976. Then after, he worked for Florida Power and Light Company until retirement. Visitation will be Friday March 12, 2021 from 5pm until 7pm at the Herbert Thompson Chapel. Services and interment will be held at 12 noon at the Greenwood Cemetery.
