Well, after I’m done going through Something, the player will usually go to Maxwell’s Silver Hammer.

this is the correct answer which i foresaw before posting this lol

I appreciate a good setup.

I’m surprised that no one has put Hey Jude, helps me to calm down

its very motivatibg and sometimes its just what i need to hear

u/wombatcombat44 avatar

And anytime you feel the pain, hey Jude, refrain,
Don't carry the world upon your shoulders.

Don’t Let Me Down. It’s great to belt out the window or in the shower when you just feel like screaming at something.

yeah the song is really catchy and the vocal part rather loud so its definitely a good one to let rip

In My Life

great one, this song has a very melancholic feeling

u/Just-Phill avatar

It reminds me of the Anthology documentary and I can watch that anytime anyway I'm feeling, that doc got me through some hell nights during withdrawals

aw thats great, you doing well now?

u/Just-Phill avatar

That was about 10 years ago all set now thanks, but opiate withdrawals especially a tolerance I was at is like death. Lennon's song Cold Turkey speaks to me

I remeber crying to this song when I was 12 as my grandmother had just died

u/Just-Phill avatar

Oh wow sorry for your loss. I know it's weird but the Golden Girls theme does that to me. This song and many other Beatles songs can have that effect. Hey Jude being a top of that list

More replies

The same for me. Makes me feel grateful for what I do have while also acknowledging the past. Beautiful song.

If im in a bad mood, either of Rain or Paperback writer goes a long way in making me feel "detached" from the seriousness of what's happened.

If im in a good mood, Rain. Just the dreamy sound makes me even more elated and oddly somehow keeps me grounded at the same time. Rain/PB is my default no brainer for extreme events around me.

this pair of songs is great. always some of my favorite just straight up

Run For Your Life

u/Celestial_Mycology avatar

LET IT BE.

I can’t believe no one has said it but blackbird. I know its original meaning is different, but I always interpret it as continuing on from a bleak past into a future that you know is uncertain, but you fly on with your broken wings and sing your broken song because it’s who you are.

Too many, but probably don’t let me down and this boy

this boy is a great one!

She loves you

a classic but has a nice uplifting charm. i feel similar with a lot of their pre rubber soul songs, they just have a happy feeling to them thats hard to not cheer up to

"While my guitar gently weeps" always comforts me. Same thing with other George solo songs like "All things must pass".

Across the Universe

The fool on the hill,

love this song too!

Octopus’s garden. So many people misunderstand that song. It really helped me through rough times.

Something

Any of them. Never fails.

The long and winding road

same!

Out of curiosity which version do you prefer? Some prefer the naked version or the original one released in 1970 🙂. Cause personally I like the 1970 one but Naked is still as good

For No One but specifically Paul’s Broad Street version

im unfamiliar with it bur "for no one" on revolver would make my top 5 as well. ill take a listen to this version

Listen to the song yesterday on that album too. The two songs kinda transition into one

Also listen to the whole album. It’s pretty fun

wow! i was expecting just like a mildly changed remix or live version or smthnf but this was really incredible. thank you so much for opening my eyes to this album!

and yesterday is quite sweet sounding too! its in a lower key and i believe a tad slower and has a longing feel to it

I have several Beatles songs in my regular playlist but I Want to Tell You probably had the best effect on me recently

For no one

Abbey Road Medley

u/PS4951 avatar

I’ve always gone with “Helter Skelter”, just because of the vibe that it has. If I remember correctly the recording of that track has a particular intentional manic feel going into it to give it that tone.

It’s very much a pressure release valve song, as I think it probably was for the group during the tense “White Album” sessions. .

She’s Leaving Home always gets me

Yellow Submarine always cheers me up!

Now and Then, no one commented it but tbh I love that song, it makes me cry

They’re all John songs 😭
