With projects like The Good Doctor under his belt, Freddie Highmore isn’t the sort of actor who would find it easy to stay out of the spotlight. His millions of fans are eager to follow his every move and the press is constantly prying into his business.

Somehow, though, against all the odds, the actor has managed to keep a relatively low profile when it comes to protecting his relationship. Many fans didn’t even know the actor was seeing anyone, much less married.

While Highmore has confirmed that he is a married man, he still hasn’t divulged everything that fans want to know about his wife, Klarissa Munz.

But Parade has confirmed that Munz is a British woman who is reportedly working in the field of web design. An Instagram account known as @FreddieHighmoresGirl has shared photos of the couple, including those that suggest that Highmore attended Cambridge University with Munz.

It is believed Munz “took theology and religious studies” at Cambridge but now works as a junior web developer.

The publication reveals that the account first started posting pictures of the couple back in 2018. That year, Highmore and Munz attended the Golden Globes together.

Parade reports that Munz and Highmore may have met at Cambridge University, where they both studied. Highmore attended the prestigious university’s Emmanuel College between 2010 and 2014. There, Highmore earned his first-double degree in Arabic and Spanish.

During the time that Highmore was studying at university, he also interned at Gulf Bank in Kuwait in 2012 and filmed the first two seasons of Bates Motel. While filming those first two seasons, he also took a year abroad and worked at a law firm in Madrid.

Highmore reportedly met Munz “when he was starring on A&E’s Bates Motel (via Parade).” However, this likely refers to the fact that they met between 2012 and 2013 while they were both at university, rather than on set.

After they were first spotted together at the 2018 Golden Globes, Highmore and Munz were occasionally pictured together at other events when they were dating until 2021. Munz visited Highmore and his co-stars on the set of Bates Motel and attended the Critics' Choice Awards with him on various occasions.

Munz also visited Highmore in Italy where he filmed the series Leonardo, released in 2021. At the time, Munz was pictured in Rome wearing a diamond ring, leading to some speculation that she was engaged to Highmore.

During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel, which aired in September 2021, Highmore confirmed that he and Munz had gotten married. While he didn’t mention Munz by name, fans know from various press reports that the two are together.

“Yes, I got married,” Highmore confirmed after Kimmel noticed his wedding band. The actor then added that while he is happy to be married, he wasn’t prepared to start jumping on the couch about it, as per Tom Cruise's famous Oprah interview in 2005.

“I know that you do that in America,” Highmore told Kimmel, referring to Cruise. “But I’m as happy as a Brit can be, and I’m married to a very wonderful woman now. So yes, I feel very happy.”

Kimmel prompted Highmore to open up about married life, and while the actor didn’t identify Munz or go into too much detail, he did reveal that he’s not yet comfortable with traditional wedding terminology.

“I just still can’t get over the terminology and the vocab—like, a ‘married man’ just sounds very old and ‘my wife’ sounds very possessive,” he explained to Kimmel. “We don’t really use that yet, but we just point to the rings and be like, ‘Here, look, make or draw your own conclusions.’”
