Leaving Bold and Beautiful after 15 years.

Patrick Mulcahey has decided to leave his position at The Bold and the Beautiful where he has been a scriptwriter and storyline consultant since 2005. Though there have been rumors that he was retiring from writing completely, Soaps.com has learned that Mulcahey will simply take a break before starting the hunt for his next gig. In a statement to Daytime Confidential, he said, “Thanks for all the kind words and good wishes, but I’m not retiring! I’ve just put in fifteen satisfying years at The Bold and the Beautiful and am taking a little break before looking for my next job. If I’m very lucky, it’ll be as good to me and for me as B&B was.” The experienced scribe started out in daytime television penning Another World spinoff, Texas, from 1980 – 1981, then moved on to Loving in 1983. His next job was Santa Barbara, where he wrote for a longer stint, staying on from 1984 – 1991, which overlapped some of his time at Guiding Light, where he wore several hats including associate head writer and head writer during his tenure, which lasted until 1994. From 1996 – 1998, Mulcahey took his skills to General Hospital before his eventual move to Bold and Beautiful, where he accomplished so much, including writing the CBS soap opera’s 5000th episode, in which Stephanie, Eric, Brooke and Ridge all went to Big Bear.

Soaps.com readers can make note that Patrick Mulcahey’s last episode will air on Bold and Beautiful on Thursday December 5. We look forward to seeing where this talented writer will land next, and hope he’ll continue on to Days of our Lives, return to General Hospital, or be picked up by Young and Restless so as to stay in daytime.
