Wings of Fire Wiki

This is a timeline meant to put the events in the Wings of Fire series in chronological order.

Do note that the second arc takes place six months after the first arc, but they are split into two years in this timeline for the sake of convenience. Therefore, everyone whose age was only mentioned in the first arc might be one year younger than depicted here. Same goes for events.

If you're looking for detailed summaries of the books, please go to their specific pages instead. This page is an overview of the main events.

They find Current who had fled the SeaWing massacre, and he is allowed to stay in Queen Vigilance's palace. Darkstalker, The Lost Continent (prologue)

Events

After a year of solitude, Fathom is sent to the Night Kingdom to stop Darkstalker from using his animus magic, along with Indigo, Lionfish, and Wharf. After Indigo nearly kills him when they first meet, Darkstalker enchants his scales to be invincible and creates the soul reader to keep Fathom from worrying about his magic.

Clearsight becomes Vigilance's head seer after she foresees an IceWing attack while secretly releasing pet scavengers with Listener. On her hatching day, she is given a carved NightWing by Fathom, as well as one of Darkstalker's three dreamvisitors. He gives another to Fathom and keeps the third one for himself.

Foeslayer takes off her enchanted earring after an argument with Arctic, allowing Diamond to capture her and create the Diamond Trial. On Vigilance's orders, Darkstalker enchants an invisible shield around the Night Kingdom that kills all IceWings, and later traps Indigo in a wooden carving, making Fathom believe she left him.

On Vigilance's festival to celebrate 40 years of her being on the throne, Clearsight introduces Whiteout to Thoughtful. Darkstalker is nearly assassinated by Quickdeath but protected by his enchanted scales. Using his magic, he finds out that Vigilance was the one to send the assassin and plots to kill her in return. However, Arctic takes Whiteout to the Ice Kingdom, and Darkstalker enchants him to follow him back to the Night Kingdom, where he then forces his father to disembowel himself. Clearsight tells the NightWings to leave the Talon Peninsula, takes Darkstalker's scroll, and with Fathom's help, manages to trick him into accepting her bracelet that would then put him to sleep for hopefully forever.

Fathom releases Indigo from the carving she was trapped in and moves to an island near the rainforest with her. Meanwhile, Clearsight decides to fly to the Lost Continent, where she falls in love with a BeetleWing named Sunstreak and starts writing down her visions in a book to protect the Pantalan tribes, eventually resulting in her being worshipped even in the present day.

Events

During the Talons of Power ceremony, Turtle enchants his sister Anemone to be an animus so that his own powers aren't discovered.

Following their guardians' plan of killing Glory to please Morrowseer, the dragonets of destiny escape their cave but are immediately caught by Scarlet. After several battles in her arena, as well as Kestrel being on trial for disobeying Scarlet a few years ago, Glory attacks Burn with her venom, but Scarlet is hit instead. The Dragonets flee with Peril's help, Clay meets his family in the Mud Kingdom, and Ruby becomes Queen of the SkyWings.

The dragonets of destiny reach the Summer Palace of the SeaWings, where they meet Tsunami's family, the royal SeaWings. After being discovered by Tsunami, Orca's enchanted statue is destroyed, stopping the murdering of Coral's daughters. The Summer Palace is attacked by Burn's forces, causing the SeaWings to retreat to the Deep Palace.

In the rainforest, the Dragonets discover that RainWings have gone missing and also find the NightWing tunnels. After Glory gets captured by the NightWings and escapes again, she challenges the RainWing queens for their throne and wins.

Starflight gets kidnapped by Morrowseer and discovers the NightWings' plan to take over the rainforest. He meets the false dragonets of destiny and finds a dreamvisitor he uses to contact Glory. This leads to the RainWings attacking the NightWing island and freeing the kidnapped RainWings as the volcano erupts. When Battlewinner dies, the NightWings flee to the rainforest as well, accepting Glory as their new queen. Morrowseer reveals that the prophecy is made up and is killed by the volcano eruption that also blinds Starflight.

Events

Jade Mountain Academy opens for its first 35 students. Moonwatcher meets her new winglet and is contacted in her head by Darkstalker. In an attempt to kill Icicle, Sora sets off an explosion in the history cave, but Icicle survives and Sora decides to flee from the academy with her brother Umber. Icicle, blackmailed by Scarlet with a dreamvisitor, heads for the rainforest to kill Glory. Moon reveals her powers to her winglet and receives a new prophecy.

Winter and most of the rest of his winglet manage to track down Icicle on the NightWing island, and Queen Glory takes her prisoner. With the help of Pyrite, they find Scarlet, but Shapeshifter severely injures Kinkajou. Winter discovers that Pyrite is actually Hailstorm, and after taking Kinkajou to Possibility, he and his brother fly to the Ice Kingdom where they undergo the Diamond Trial. Hailstorm goes back to the other IceWings, pretending to have won and killed Winter, while Winter frees Foeslayer and leaves with her.

Peril and Turtle leave Jade Mountain to find and kill Scarlet, first heading to Possibility to find the rest of the Jade Winglet. However, Peril runs into Soar, her father, who reveals his true identity (Chameleon) to her before giving her a necklace that removes her firescales, which she eventually takes off again because of an additional spell that made her loyal to Scarlet. Scarlet makes Ruby give up her kingdom, but Ruby challenges her for the throne and wins thanks to changing back into Tourmaline for a few minutes, killing Scarlet. The Jade Winglet manages to take Darkstalker's scroll from Chameleon, and Peril burns it, accidentally freeing Darkstalker in the process.

Turtle enchants a stick to keep him hidden from Darkstalker, who places spells on the dragons he meets, making them like him instead of being concerned or afraid. Turtle also enchants Qibli's earring to give him immunity from Darkstalker's spells. Darkstalker heads for the rainforest, providing several NightWings various superpowers before taking them to the old Night Kingdom and becoming their king. Anemone heals Kinkajou but also puts a love spell on her. After Darkstalker exiles Anemone because of trying to enchant him, Turtle follows her and fights her at the old Island Palace, revealing that he enchanted her to be an animus. Darkstalker uses a spell to teleport them to his palace, and upon seeing Turtle, imprisons him and takes away his animus powers.

Darkstalker sends a plague to the IceWings, killing several dragons, most notably Queen Glacier. Her daughter Snowfall becomes queen.

Meanwhile, Qibli decides to make everyone immune to Darkstalker's spells by multiplying his enchanted earring with Turtle's bowl. Onyx takes Ostrich to Vulture, the leader of the Talons of Power who is responsible for the bombings that have happened in the Kingdom of Sand. Qibli and Winter help Ostrich escape, along with Qibli's mother Cobra, who is then taken prisoner by Thorn for conspiring against her. They learn of the IceWing plague from a hybrid named Typhoon, and he volunteers to take some of Qibli's enchanted earrings to the tribe. Vulture and revealed‐to‐be‐royal Onyx challenge Thorn for the throne, but Qibli interrupts the duel by casting a sandstorm. While taking cover in the dungeons, Thorn finally releases Prickle. After reuniting in the Night Kingdom, the Jade Winglet heads to Jade Mountain Academy because of the IceWings' planned attack. Darkstalker and the NightWings follow, resulting in the Battle of Jade Mountain, which is ended by an empathy spell created by Qibli and Turtle. Darkstalker reunites with Foeslayer and is turned into Peacemaker by Kinkajou, using pieces of the enchanted scroll she took from Chameleon earlier.

Jade Mountain Academy fills empty places in many winglets with new students. Winter helps found a town called Sanctuary, and an observatory is added to the SandWing palace.

On Pantala, Luna, a SilkWing living in Cicada Hive, is captured by HiveWings and sent to the flamesilk cavern, located in Wasp Hive, the capital of Pantala. The Book of Clearsight is stolen by Blue, who is Luna's half brother, Cricket, and Sundew. Blue, Cricket, Swordtail, and Sundew rescue Luna, but she ends up washed up on Pyrrhia. The group discovers the Chrysalis, a SilkWing revolution designed to rebel against the HiveWings. Cricket finds an orphaned egg only injected once by the queen and names the dragonet Bumblebee.

Bloodworm Hive is destroyed by PoisonWings, and Hawthorn, now fully controlled by the othermind, tricks the main characters into burning the breath of evil plant, placing many dragons including Commander Belladonna and Blue under its control. However, he was killed by Sundew, Willow, and Mandrake.

Swordtail wakes up and remembers the events of the past day, along with how the two armies at the river burned the Poison Jungle and how he was looking for Cricket and was unable to find her. He sees Blue asleep and as soon as he goes to wake him up, the othermind takes over Swordtail's mind.

Io and Cinnabar send all the SilkWings in Mantis Hive, Yellowjacket Hive, and Jewel Hive into hiding before presumably being caught in Cicada Hive.

Queen Snowfall sends the Pantalan refugees to Sanctuary and vouches for them in the Queen council. Representatives from all the tribes are sent on a stealth mission to Pantala. Snowfall returns to the Ice Kingdom and destroys the Great Ice Cliff and ranking wall.

The Representatives head to Pantala and are ambushed days after initially leaving Pyrrhia. Moonwatcher, Tsunami, Qibli, and Pineapple are captured by the HiveWings, and Lynx and Sundew try to save them. Cricket, Sky, Wren, Bullfrog, and Luna head to the abyss, guided by Axolotl. In the caverns near the abyss, it is mentioned that the othermind originated from Pyrrhia, invented by an ancient human emperor who wanted to control dragons. Through the series of visions induced by Cottonmouth and Lizard - seeing the origins of the Scorching and seeing current events in real time - Luna decides to sever the sentient skeletons of Cottonmouth and Lizard (now "Freedom") to end the othermind permanently.

The LeafSilk Kingdom is formed as the new territory for the LeafWings and SilkWings, and the Hives are left as HiveWing territory.
