Secret wedding for Branagh
by LAURA BENJAMIN, Daily Mail
Kenneth Branagh has married girlfriend Lindsay Brunnock in a secret ceremony over the bank holiday weekend.
It is a second wedding for the 42-year-old Shakespearean actor, who was formerly married to Emma Thompson.
He met his new wife two years ago on the set of Channel 4's £40million drama Shackleton, in which he starred as the Irish-born explorer.
Miss Brunnock was working as an art director during the two-month shoot in Greenland.
After a romance of just a few days, the couple took a six-week holiday together.
Miss Brunnock, who is in her 30s, moved into Branagh's home in Windsor, Berkshire, a few months later.
The couple have done their best to avoid being seen in public together.
The last time they posed for photographers was during a gala screening of the British movie Gosford Park at the London Film Festival in November 2001.
Branagh's publicist, Lawrence Atkinson, confirmed yesterday that the couple had wed in a "small, private" ceremony and were now on honeymoon.
A friend of the actor said: "Kenneth and Lindsay really wanted to keep the big day private.
"Kenneth hates the whole showbiz lifestyle of constant parties and just wants to keep this relationship as intimate as possible."
Branagh, who has starred in a string of British hit films, including Peter's Friends and Much Ado About Nothing, was nominated for best actor and best director Oscars for Henry V in 1989.
He separated from Miss Thompson in 1996 after six years together and went on to have a three-year relationship with Helena Bonham Carter, although the couple never lived together.
He met Miss Brunnock two years after that partnership had ended.
Since the break-up of her marriage, Miss Thompson, 44, has been in a long-term relationship with actor Greg Wise.
They have a three-year-old daughter, Gaia, who was conceived after fertility treatment.
