Took this tour with my wife on the 22nd of May 2024 at 9.15 am as this tour lasts for 4 hours. I must have been about 8 years old when this movie released in 1965 and saw this movie on the big screen and fell in love with it ! Must have seen this movie about 5 to 6 times later and loved the story, the songs, the locations. Now visiting Salzburg after almost 6 decades after seeing the movie was like going down the memory lane… these guys do a great job in helping you re live all those fond memories of the various places that the movie Sound of Music was shot and it was like seeing the abbey, the church, the house where the Von Trap family lived and our guide Antonio did a very good job and this tour was definitely worth it !

Overall seamless experience, easy to book and logistics all worked out perfectly. The bus was comfortable and the guide (Walter) offered up a plethora of facts and details both during the drive and while at the Eagles Next. Multilingual and very willing to engage in conversation.

As for the actual tour it is a MUST do when in Salzburg! We had a beautiful clear day and you could see forever. I have watched endless movies about WWII and the Eagles Nest but nothing prepares you for what you will actually see. The amount of effort that went into building this and choice of location is incredible. The scenery around you is classic Bavaria and the area is majestic.

The Berchtesgaden stop was pleasant and we happened to luck out where we were treated to a parade that was taking place that day while we enjoyed a traditional lunch at the Golden Bear.

    Fabulous experience, I highly recommend!

This was such a fun day but be prepared it’s a long one if you’re doing the joint tour. Make sure you have snacks or grab a small bite in Hallstatt because you jump right from bus to bus.

Definitely recommend taking the tram up the mountain to see the views in Hallstatt and be prepared to sing on the SOM tour bus. It’s a ton of fun even if you’re not too enthused about musicals because you get to see some beautiful sights.

Maxine was such a fantastic and experienced guide! She was super knowledgeable about the area and had plenty of trivia facts to share (we were able to take plenty of pictures for our Moms because she pointed out all the SoM filming locations lol) She even made lunch reservations for the group at Europe’s oldest restaurant, St Peter Stiftskulinarium. Such a cool place, it’s built right into the granite wall. It was truly a magical day trip to Austria that could have only been better with more time! Thank you again to Maxine for a wonderful day and pointing us to the right train after the tour!

We had an absolutely fabulous day out on this tour. Edelweiss tours is definitely the way to go. The smaller group is definitely worth the money and experience of the day. Shiva was an absolute hoot and so knowledgeable and a great guide! We’d request him for all our next trips.
Just as an FYI to those that aren’t quite able bodied, the salt mine requires quite a bit of up hill walking and stairs and isn’t particularly accessible but was absolutely fantastic if you can try do it!

Loved the convenience of this trip and our driver/guide was lovely. Visiting each place was great and scenic, but it was a very long day. By the time we got to Salzburg it was well after 5 PM and it felt like many stores were closed. Also, a warning should be added that most stores and restaurants in Halstatt do not accept credit cards so bring your Euros!

This tour is well worth the money for the information , scenary and ease if you do not have a car available
You go a lovely town in the mountains and have the opportunity to do the sky walk or a boat ride
Both these are at your cost
The tour guide Mitch was engaging and fun , he was actually our tour guide for the Sound of Music tour the previous day

It was a nice event to attend. It was organized pretty well. The performance was very good, and the food was good as well. A couple of things to mention. When we booked this event, we have been under the impression from the photos that we have seen on-line that it will be a lot smaller event with only a few tables. To our surprise we discovered upon arrival that the hall was packed with tables. There was a lot of people to be served, and it looked like there wasn’t enough servers as waiting time to be served was pretty long. Another thing. I personally found it a little surprising that the female singer, while being dressed in a costume of the old days, had her hair completely undone as if she just rolled out of bed. Aside from that – it was an enjoyable event in a beautiful hall.

Wonderful day trip with Joseph. We met at the indicated meeting point and left promptly on time. It was indeed a small group of just 8 of us. On the way from Vienna to the lake region, after about a 2-hour drive, we stopoed at a small but clean and comfortable truck stop restaurant, with good service and fine choices for either breakfast or lunch; it was a 45 minute stop. The drive and 2 stops around the lake were great, as the views are spectacular. Joseph did a great job explaining where we were and lots of other info about Vienna, the region, and a little history. The tour in Salzburg was just enough to get a taste of all that there's to do. We spent about 3.5 hrs on the ground in Salzburg. All in all, it was a great full-day trip.

Exceptional evening in every way. The music, the venue. The string quintet was wonderful and the musical choices sublime. The clarinetist Marius Birtea was phenomenal. The highlight of our time in Saltzburg!
