Red, White & Royal Blue's love story will live on!

Amazon MGM Studios announced May 10 that the LGBTQ rom-com, which debuted on Prime Video in August 2023, has a sequel in development.

Stars Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez, who play Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz, respectively, will return.

Plot details remain unclear, but director Matthew López is back to write the screenplay along with Casey McQuiston, the author behind the 2019 Red, White & Royal Blue bestselling novel.

The first film also starred Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Stephen Fry, Clifton Collins Jr. and Rachel Hilson.

Red, White & Royal Blue is about Prince Henry, a British royal who is forced to hide his sexuality, and Alex Claremont-Diaz, the outgoing son of the U.S. president, progressing from rivals to lovers and how their romance affects their personal lives and political positions.

Perez, 32, and Galitzine, 29, previously told PEOPLE about their chemistry, with Perez saying, "As soon as we started chatting, we just vibed. We had no ego in the moment of meeting each other, knowing how much this book means to people."

Galitzine, who stars alongside Anne Hathaway in the new film The Idea of You, added, "We got a sense of each other and realized we had the same sense of humor. It made the chemistry of it all a lot easier."

Red, White & Royal Blue is now streaming on Prime Video.
