John Krasinski recently expressed his willingness to reprise the role of Jim Halpert in the upcoming spin-off.

John Krasinski, known for his iconic role as Jim Halpert in The Office, has been making headlines regarding a potential return in the upcoming spin-off. The original show, which enjoyed nine successful seasons led by Steve Carell, is returning and fans are excited. While the only confirmed cast members so far are Domhnall Gleeson and Italian actress Sabrina Impacciatore, there’s widespread speculation about John Krasinski’s involvement.

Recently, at the premiere of his latest movie IF, John Krasinski shared that he would be more than willing to reprise his role as Halpert if the series creator Greg Daniels invites him to join the spin-off. While talking to People on the red carpet, the actor said, “I know nothing about it, other than I think it’s taking place in a newspaper, a local newspaper. Domhnall Gleeson, with whom I’m working right now, is the sweetest and most talented guy. He’s gonna crush, whatever is it, he’s gonna crush it.”

When asked if there’s any chance he’ll reprise his character Jim Halpert, Krasinski explained, “No, they haven’t asked, but the truth is I’d do anything Greg Daniels asked me to do.”

John Krasinski is currently working with The Office spin-off star Domhnall Gleeson in a film directed by Guy Ritchie. While Krasinski is eager to reprise his role as Jim Halpert from the show, his co-star Steve Carell, who played Michael Scott, confirmed to ET that he won’t be making an appearance in the upcoming series. Steve Carell expressed excitement for Domhnall Gleeson and the new cast but stated he has no plans to return to his role as Dunder Mifflin’s former Regional Manager. Despite not reprising his iconic character, the Despicable Me voice actor fully supports the project moving forward.

Meanwhile, The Office launched the careers of actors including Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Mindy Kaling, Rainn Wilson, Jenna Fischer, BJ Novak and Craig Robinson. The show also featured talented individuals such as Ed Helms, James Spader, Leslie David Baker, Brian Baumgartner, Kate Flannery, Angela Kinsey, Oscar Nunez and Phyllis Smith. The show concluded its nine-season run in 2013 and the series became a global hit, particularly after its release on streaming platforms. Despite leaving the show after seven seasons, Carell made a memorable return for the finale.
