20 Breed Notes – B’ham Nat 2024

At Birmingham National, Keesies were first in the ring (which was in the main Bingley Hall) with a 9.00am start for judge Vanessa Williams-Wegmann (her 1st appointment awarding CC’s for Keesies was at Paignton in 2022) And a well done to her for getting her critique out so promptly (the same evening!) 45 Keesies had entered with a whopping 14 absent; there were no entries in either of the Special Beginners classes or Puppy Dog; with the Limit and Open classes for both sexes having the largest entries. Judging was over and done by 11.30am which meant that exhibitors could get home and enjoy the glorious weather we’ve been having recently.

Winning his 5th CC with Best of Breed was Gill Brunt’s Ch Divnyi Drug Dar (Imp Rus) (Cinerus Arctic Prince of Star x Rus Ch Divnyi Drug Gusja Lebed) with the RDCC going to second in Open, Sean and Vikki Marshall’s Arabesque at Devonia (Imp Rus) ) (Rus Ch Naidjel iz Mirashela x Rus Ch Felicita iz Mirashela)

Winning her crowning 3rd CC was Andy and Jean Fitches’ Sofia Loren Della Ginevrina (Imp Ita) Bitch (Carpe Diem Della Ginevrina x You Are My Everything Della Ginevrina) Sofia won her first CC last year at Midland Counties from Judge Albert Wight and her second followed shortly at LKA from Liz Wogan. Sofia is Andy and Jean’s first UK Champion.

It was another RBCC for Gill’s Goldgin Chanel (imp Rus) (Rus Ch Rizheis Shain iz Mirashela x Rus Ch Zareslava iz Mirashela) from Limit. And it was also another Best Puppy in Breed for Johnston & Atkinson’s Winklestar Namid (Vivids Majestic Prince of Winklestar (Imp USA) x Winklestar Serendipity) handled by a delighted Shelley Johnston.

Susi Gardner has taken over the organising of the Keeshond calendar from Mark Redler and she has sent me the following:
It’s that time of year again and the Keeshond Club Calendar for 2025 is underway. So, if you would like to advertise your Kennel, your dog/s and your successes and have a spot in the Keeshond Club Calendar then please get in touch with Susi via email: Manzanakees@gmail.com
Prices for advertising in the calendar are £40 and there are only 12 slots so grab them whilst you can, you’ll also get a complimentary calendar once printed! But do hurry as the deadline is the 15th June 2024 (due to print deadlines).
Additionally, I’m on the lookout for pictures of our beautiful breed, so if you have any pictures from walks, at home or of them in the most hilarious poses or expressions then please send them in to me too – again same deadline applies.
Thanks
Susi Gardner
