Lee Abbott is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Henri) of the A Quiet Place film series.

He was the husband of Evelyn Abbott and the father of Marcus, Regan, Beau, and an unnamed infant. On the first day of the Death Angels' invasion of Earth, he helped protect his daughter and evade the creatures. He later witnessed the death of his son, Beau, having been just moments away from saving him. Over a year later, he worked on a hearing aid for Regan, which was later used to discover that the creatures were weakened by a frequency emitted from it.

During an attack of his family's farm, Lee found Evelyn, who had just given birth to their new son, and helped her to safety. After sharing one last conversation with his wife, Lee made his way back outside to protect Marcus and Regan. He was killed sacrificing himself to save them both from the Death Angels. His sacrifice ensured that Evelyn, Marcus, Regan and his newborn son could escape their farm and seek new shelter from the creatures.

Day 1[]

Lee Abbott watches as Death Angels arrive on Day 1

Lee watches as Death Angels arrive near Millbrook.

On June 18, 2020, the first day that the Death Angels arrived on Earth, Lee stopped his truck at a local grocery store owned by Roger and picked up a few items. As he waited in line, Roger allowed him to leave without paying, as he was in a rush to make it to Marcus’ baseball game in the park. He made his way there, where he joined Regan and their neighbor Emmett in the stands. Suddenly, an unidentifiable object came hurtling towards the town and the game ended abruptly.

Lee and Regan made it to his truck on Main street, but he immediately exited upon noticing a squad car pull up behind them. A fellow officer of the law himself, Lee asked the officer what they were looking at, but they had yet to identify exactly what they were dealing with. Almost as if out of nowhere, one of the creatures crashed into the squad car. Lee jumped back in his truck and pulled off but his truck was unable to start the engine.

Lee and Regan take shelter in a bar.

Lee and Regan noticed Evelyn, Marcus, and Beau on the side of the road, but they couldn't help and were forced to take refuge inside a bar, where Roger was also hiding, as being on the streets was too dangerous. Along with several other people, Lee and Regan quietly took cover. They noticed two kids attempting to call their mom, but they lost cell reception. As one of the creatures passed by the shop, Lee placed his hand over the mouth of Roger, who was saying prayers in a hushed tone. Lee and Regan were forced to flee out the back as the two teens’ cellphone rang, alerting the creature of their location, as it came crashing through the window and slaughtering people inside the bar.

The creature followed Lee and Regan outside and down the street. They noticed Evelyn, Marcus, and Beau hiding behind a flipped over squad car and ran towards them, with the creature not far behind. Fortunately, the officer from earlier began firing rounds at the creature, which didn’t kill it, but provided enough of a distraction for the Abbott family to escape.

Day 89[]

Lee Abbott is too late

Lee is too late to save Beau.

Lee returned to the pharmacy, where his family has begun to scavenge for medication for Marcus, who was ill. As the family were about to leave the store, they saw that Beau had picked up a toy space shuttle, with batteries inside. Lee slowly convinced Beau to remain quiet and took the batteries out to prevent the toy from making noise. He then placed it on the counter and left the store.

As the family made their way home, they discovered that Beau had regained possession of the toy shuttle from the store, having been given it back by Regan. After she left the store, he put the batteries back into it. Beau soon started the electronic sounds on the toy, causing it to draw the attention of a nearby Death Angel. Lee sat Marcus down and ran to save Beau, but he was too late and Beau was killed.

Day 472[]

Lee Abbott waits for a possible attack

Having extinguished the fire, Lee waits for a possible attack.

More than a year later, Lee had set up a surveillance system at the farm and Evelyn was pregnant, due to give birth any day. That night, Lee climbed on top of one of the silos and looked through a memory box dedicated to Beau. As the sun went down, Lee set a fire on top of the silo to signal the other nearby residences, who in turn did the same. He later had dinner with his family. After dinner, Marcus and Regan played Monopoly. During the game, Marcus accidentally knocked over the lantern, causing a fire. Lee quickly extinguished the fire and the family awaited a possible Death Angel attack. After a few scares, the family relaxed and returned to what they were doing.

Lee later went downstairs to work on Regan's hearing aid. Evelyn soon joined him, listening to music in her headphones. She shared the headphones with Lee and the two danced as the listened to the song.

Day 473[]

Lee Abbott keeps Marcus Abbott quiet on Day 473

Lee keeps Marcus quiet after the elderly man draws a creature to himself.

The following day, after telling Regan to stay out of the basement and showing her the hearing aid that he had been working on, he took Marcus out on a hunt, where after catching some fish, he and Marcus discussed his feelings towards Regan, who Lee insisted that he didn't blame for the death of Beau. On their way home from the hunt, they came across an elderly man standing over his wife, who was killed by one of the creatures. Lee pleaded with the man to keep quiet. However, the pain was too much to bear, and the man let out a loud scream. Lee picked up Marcus and took cover behind a tree as a creature arrived and killed the man.

Lee and Marcus made their way back home, where they discovered that Evelyn had turned on the red lights, indicating danger. Lee handed Marcus a flashlight and told him to launch fireworks in order to lure the creatures away from the house. Armed with a loaded shotgun, Lee made his way into the house and followed a trail of blood to the bathroom, where he found Evelyn laying in the shower with their newborn baby boy. He then carried Evelyn and the baby back to the barn, where they made their way underground as the child started to cry. Lee put an oxygen mask on the baby and placed him inside a wooden crate, where his cries were muffled.

Lee Abbott has one last conversation with Evelyn Abbott on Day 473

Lee spends a few final moments with Evelyn before leaving to save Marcus and Regan.

After a conversation with Evelyn, Lee returned to the surface to find Regan and Marcus. He discovered that the kids had become trapped inside a grain silo and that a creature was coming for them. However, they managed to escape unharmed and Lee embraced them both. However, the creature wasn't far. Lee sent the kids to the abandoned truck while he grabbed an axe from the tool shed. The creature slashed at Lee, leaving a large gash across his chest. The creature then began to attack the truck with Regan and Marcus.

Lee Abbott sacrifices himself

Lee sacrifices himself to save Marcus and Regan.

With what little life remained in him, Lee pulled himself up and screamed out loud to distract the creature from his kids, but not before signaling to Regan that he loved her and that he always had. After the creature charged towards Lee and ripped him apart, Marcus shifted the truck out of park and it rolled down the hill to the house, where they run into the arms of Evelyn.

Soon after, Regan discovered that the creatures had a weakness caused by the frequency emitted from her new hearing aid. The family used it to fight the creatures and kill them. With the sacrifice of Lee, his family had managed to survive the day.
