MAXEY, Beverley Ruth (Brown), 84, of Mechanicsville, VA, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 6, 2024. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Floyd W. Maxey, Jr.; her parents, Harold E. Brown and Virginia Brown-Torstrick. She is survived by her sons, Michale and Dennis Maxey; sister, Candace Merle (David); four grandchildren, Michale Paul Maxey, Kellie (Josh) Bowen, Matthew Maxey, and Erin (Eric) Cross; great-grandsons Dylan Thorpe and Eero Cross; God-daughter, Kristina Burnett, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Born December 21, 1939, in Lansing, MI, she went to Baker Grade School and graduated from Central High School in Evansville, IN, where she sang solos and had the lead in plays. Beverley was a member of the Robert Morris Chapter # 87, O.E.S., and the ACCA Shriner's Provettes. She retired as Assistant-Vice President and Bank Manager of Nation's Bank and Bank of America. She loved spending time with her family, her pets, traveling, reading, and sharing Shrine activities with her husband.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to caregiver, Marquita Robinson, and the staff of Gentiva Hospice for the wonderful care they provided Beverley in her final days.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., with a memorial service beginning at 2 p.m., Friday, May 17, 2024, at the Mechanicsville Chapel of the Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd. A private interment will be held at Virginia Veterans Cemetery at Amelia.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, Attn: Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607, or the American Cancer Society, PO Box 4110, Glen Allen, VA 23058.
