Warning: Contains spoilers for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 5.In the early 1990s, Marvel tried and failed to make a She-Hulk movie, and now She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has the perfect chance to pay off that scrapped production's costume design. It’s very common for superhero media to reference older works in their franchise, whether they be noteworthy or lesser-known. She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been no different in that regard, and the latest episode could easily allow for a reference to the unreleased She-Hulk movie to be next.

Following a canceled attempt at a TV series for ABC, Marvel began plans for a She-Hulk feature to be directed by B movie legend Larry Cohen. Brigitte Nielsen, best known for her role as Ludmilla Vobet Drago in Rocky IV and Creed II, was set to play the title character, and she even did a photo shoot as both Jennifer Walters and She-Hulk. There was a clear attachment to the project, at least from its star, but unfortunately, the movie never got off the ground. While She-Hulk would appear in various cartoons and video games over the next 30 years, she wouldn't make her live-action debut until the MCU’s She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series.

While the She-Hulk movie never came to pass, there’s a chance for the costume Brigitte Nielsen wore in the promotional photoshoot to now make an appearance in the Disney+ show. In She-Hulk: Attorney at Law episode 5, Jen hires fashion designer Luke Jacobson to make her a new wardrobe, which will undoubtedly lead to her getting a superhero costume as well. This means there’s a perfect opportunity to have the MCU's She-Hulk wear the dated outfit from the She-Hulk movie. And given how eccentric Luke is, an over-the-top costume like Nielsen’s is exactly the kind of thing he would make. Granted, Jen would likely end up rejecting it, but the costume appearing at all would still serve as a great Easter egg.

Why Brigitte Nielsen’s She-Hulk Look Would Be Perfect For The MCU

Even if it wouldn’t be her permanent look, Brigitte Nielsen’s costume from the scrapped She-Hulk movie would still be a perfect addition to the MCU. Between the coloring, the angular design, and the copious amounts of skin, Nielsen’s outfit has a very '90s feel that would be very campy, if not outright silly, by today’s standards. That would be a good thing, however, because Marvel's She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is a comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously, so a superhero costume that looks goofy by today’s standards would be right at home there, even if it’s only used for a gag.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has already made sly references to the classic Incredible Hulk TV series as well as the MCU's recasting of the Hulk character from the 2008 movie. Now it has a chance to pay off Marvel's failed She-Hulk movie, similar to the Ms. Marvel series alluding to bad Carol Danvers costumes of the past. Such a reference to the campiness of Brigitte Nielsen's She-Hulk costume would absolutely suit She-Hulk: Attorney at Law while also partly redeeming one of Marvel's many abandoned projects from the '90s.
