[Saloon]

(Harper tears three sheets from the bar tab record and hands them to Rhade.)
RHADE: No. No way. It's not possible. Not even I could consume this much.
(Rhade finishes his drink, tears up the bill and walks away.)
HARPER: What's the matter? Questioning the amount of your bill or the size of your problem?
RHADE: My only problem is a bartender lining his pockets by padding my bill.
HARPER: The only thing padded around here, Rhade, is your drunken ego.
BEKA: Please, wait. Wait. If you weren't too blasted to count, you'd realise he's been giving you the family and friends discount.
(Doyle enters.)
RHADE: Blasted? I am not
HARPER: Thank you very much, but why don't you take it outside?
BEKA: No.
(Beka pushes Harper away, hard, onto a table with a young man and his girlfriend.)
BEKA: Seriously, the Harper bashing is getting a little bit old. If it isn't you whining about your bill, it's Doyle whining that he didn't make her a real live girl.
DOYLE: What did you just say?
HARPER: Which part of take it outside am I mispronouncing?
BEKA: Oh, something only a machine ear would pick up.
HARPER: She doesn't mean it. Don't. She's a
BEKA: I'm a, I'm a what?
(Harper gets pushed into more customers.)
HARPER: Sorry.
RHADE: Ooo, way to bite the hand that protects you, kluge.
HARPER: This is protecting? And don't call me kluge, ber.
DOYLE: I don't whine about not being organic. It's not that great anyway.
BEKA: Oh, you whine a little.
HARPER: That's it. No more drinks for you. Zero drink maximum, pal.
(Rhade throws Harper across the room. A fight starts.)
BEKA: Finally! An intervention.
RHADE: Oh, I guess you know about those. What was your intervention for? Flash abuse, or possession by the Abyss?
(Beka punches Rhade.)
DOYLE: Ooh!
(The young man, who is just about to propose to his girl, gets knocked over by a falling Beka.)
BEKA: Sorry.
(The girl punches Beka.)
HARPER: Take it outside!
(Rhade throws Harper through a window.)
RHADE: Is that outside enough for you?
(The bar brawl continues.)
BEKA: Not the hair!

[Town]

(Another man is thrown through the broken window. Doyle backs up and trips on the threshold, then the brawlers fall on top of her. Finally, they make it out into the market square, demolishing a vegetable stand.)
HARPER [OC]: Ow, ow, my eye, my eye.

[Saloon]

(Then the mass of bodies makes it back into the saloon.)
HARPER [OC]: Not the eye!
(The young swain, with broken spectacles, finds the engagement ring in the debris.)
BEKA [OC]: No biting. No biting.
(And gets trampled. on. Harper enters to survey the ongoing fight and the wreckage. He has a lovely black eye. Doyle follows discreetly. Harper reaches behind the bar and fishes out a honking big gun. He fires it at the ceiling and gets showered with plaster. The fight stops. Trance runs in as the fighters start laughing at Harper.)
HARPER: Laugh it up, laugh it up.
RHADE: I don't know about you, but that felt too good.
BEKA: Yeah, amen to that.
HARPER: Yeah, I guess.
BEKA: You know, it's kind of amazing we haven't killed each other by now.
RHADE: Life is the only thing left to lose.
HARPER: Yeah, and it's a pretty crappy life too, being stuck here in a stink hole like this.
RHADE: We all know whose fault that is.
DOYLE: Oh, Trance, he didn't mean you.
(Trance runs out.)
HARPER: Smooth move, Rhade.

[Command]

(A control panel just beeps and burbles at Hunt.)
HUNT: Argh! Damn, damn, and damn! Sorry, Andromeda, it's not you, it's me. It's my inability to get you more power in this God forsaken place. Damn! Oh. Hi, Trance, I didn't hear you come in.
TRANCE: Goodbye, Dylan.
HUNT: Trance?

[Saloon]

(Harper pours Rhade a drink.)
HARPER: Oh, what the hell. But no more grousing about the bill.
RHADE: No more padding it.
DOYLE: Hey, we did this already.
BEKA: Yeah. Guys, change the subject.
HARPER: All right. I got one. What are we going to drink to?
RHADE: Not a damn thing. An uncertain future I can take, but an uncertain past? That's another thing altogether.
DOYLE: You guys take this time think pretty hard.
BEKA: You should try it sometime.
HARPER: Time, past, future, what are we going to drink to? And this time let's not hurt anybody's feelings.
BEKA: Fine. The present.
RHADE: The present. Which is simply nothing.
BEKA: To nothing.
DOYLE: I'm going to get going. You guys don't need me sunshining all over your pity party.

[Town]

HUNT: Doyle. Hi. I'm looking for Trance. Have you seen her?
DOYLE: Actually, yes.
HUNT: Well good, then maybe you can tell me what's wrong with her. She came to Andromeda, and she was just acting, I don't know. Something was wrong, and then she just left.
DOYLE: Okay. Well, here's the thing. We were talking, and she came along, and she might have heard something that she might have misinterpreted. She, she left?
HUNT: Yeah. So she heard you
DOYLE: Rhade
HUNT: Rhade say
DOYLE: That now we know whose fault it was that everything was lost.
HUNT: I see. So a bullet meant for me hit Trance. Well that's just great, because now she's gone.
DOYLE: We'll find her.
HUNT: Yeah, well, I'm going to go look for her in the tunnels.
DOYLE: I can help. I've been here three years longer and I know those tunnels better than you do.
HUNT: Thanks. Lead the way.

[Tunnels]

(Trance is hiding and crying. An armed man adjusts his clothing to hide an insignia.)
ORLUND: Who's there? I know someone's there.
TRANCE: I'm sorry, am I trespassing?
ORLUND: No. Well, yes. I maintain this sector of the tunnels.
TRANCE: I'll go.
ORLUND: Wait. Are you alone?
TRANCE: Yes.
ORLUND: You were crying. You must be lost.
TRANCE: I really don't want to bother anyone right now, I'm just going to leave.
ORLUND: Well, you can't. I don't mean to frighten you, but it isn't safe down here. There are traps.
TRANCE: Oh.
ORLUND: Are you running away to hide yourself, or lose yourself?
TRANCE: Is there a difference?
ORLUND: Well, I've been sweeping these tunnels for many years, and I've seen every variation.
TRANCE: Well, let's just say they're both.
ORLUND: Well at least I thought I had. There are no princesses on Seefra One. And I'd at least have heard of you if you're from one of the other Seefras.
TRANCE: No, I'm not a princess. No.
ORLUND: Then what are you?
TRANCE: Honestly I have no idea what I am.
ORLUND: I'm Orlund.
TRANCE: Trance.
(Orland goes down on one knee and kisses her hand.)
ORLUND: It's a pleasure to meet you, your Highness.
TRANCE: No, I'm. No, I'm not.
ORLUND: Well if you don't know what you are, then you don't know you're not a princess.
TRANCE: Well it must take one to know one. You must be the King of the Alpha sector of Seefra One tunnels, then.
ORLUND: I'm simply a custodian, filling an inherited role. I maintain the tunnels like my father, and his father before him.
TRANCE: How do you maintain them?
ORLUND: I keep their secrets.
TRANCE: It must be great to have secrets. Mine are all out in the open.
ORLUND: Tell me one.
TRANCE: I ruin people's lives.

[Tunnel 2]

HUNT: These tunnels seem endless.
DOYLE: Eight thousand two hundred and fifty nine klicks.
HUNT: Hmm?
DOYLE: A little trivia I picked up from the Methus diagram.
HUNT: Oh. Which way?
DOYLE: That way.
HUNT: Okay. If Andromeda was at full capacity, we could search this without leaving Command.
DOYLE: If Andromeda were at full capacity, we wouldn't be here cursing every new day on Seefra.
(Hunt spots a circle of stones, a campfire, on a wonderfully flat tiled floor. There are some rags scattered about.)
HUNT: A tunnel dweller camp. It's still fresh.
DOYLE: How fresh?
(They shoot some people.)
HUNT: Very fresh. Look out!
(More shooting of the white skinned troglodytes.)
HUNT: I hope Trance didn't meet up with these guys.
DOYLE: We'll find her, Dylan.
HUNT: She doesn't know how to defend herself. She has powers, but she can't control them yet.
DOYLE: It must be hard for her.
HUNT: You don't know the half of it. You think the others are taking it hard, not sure of where they are in space and time?
DOYLE: But it's even harder for Trance, because she's blaming herself.
HUNT: She's taking all the responsibility, but she doesn't know why.
DOYLE: Is it getting warmer in here, or are my sensors off?
HUNT: We're a long way down. The closer we get to the core, the hotter it gets.
(They pass a sensor device, then a statue of a man caught in a posture of fear, fendin something off.)
HUNT: Well, there's something you don't see every day.
DOYLE: What happened to him?
HUNT: Same thing that happened to them.
(A whole cavern of petrified people.)

[Tunnel]

ORLUND: This way. If you follow it all the way, it'll take you right through to the other side of Seefra One.

TRANCE: Wow.
ORLUND: My part ends around here. I bid you farewell, princess. I can't take you to the next town, but I can show you a shorter way.
TRANCE: Well, I've heard that there are settlements down here. Aren't there any that are safe?
ORLUND: Shush.
TRANCE: What do you hear?
(Orlund shoots a troglodyte then takes Trance back to a large rock.)
ORLUND: Stay down.
(Orlund lures the troglodytes away. Trance stands up and another troglodyte points its weapon at her. Orlund shoots it in the back.)
ORLUND: Now do you believe me it's not safe down here?
TRANCE: That weapon.
ORLUND: It's something else, isn't it? It's more like a sculpture than an instrument of war.
TRANCE: A sculpture that turns its victims to stone?
ORLUND: Well, a high energy megatron bell produces a tuned EM pulse which causes instant molecular atrophy.
TRANCE: Now I haven't been to all of Seefra's other eight planets, but I know that was not made on any of them.
ORLUND: Very astute, princess. You're wrong. And you're right. This elegant weapon is from here, but not from Seefra.
TRANCE: A riddle. Then it's from Tarn Vedra. It's Vedran.
ORLUND: You know about the Vedrans?
TRANCE: Princesses can't study ancient history? I knew someone once who would love to see that. It's beautiful.
ORLUND: And now it's mine. Mine to use as I see fit. To protect princesses with.

[Saloon]

(Harper is going through his bar tab book again.)
HARPER: Starting to add up, guys.
BEKA: Must be. I imagine Rhade's at the point where things are starting to look up.
HARPER: Actually, Rhade's at the point where you're starting to look pretty.
BEKA: Excuse me.
(Beka head-slaps Harper.)
HARPER: Ow!
RHADE: I only look down. That keeps me from tripping over my own ideals.
HARPER: Who are you kidding, Rhade? You don't have any ideals.
BEKA: Exactly. You're a Nietzschean, all you have is
RHADE: Mmm, go on.
BEKA: That's right. You really have nothing, do you?
RHADE: Ah, you have been paying attention.
HARPER: Don't be so glum. It could all be out there somewhere. In one of those other universes, maybe. You could still be living your past, and have everything.
BEKA: That's right. You could still be an Admiral on Terazed.
RHADE: With the wife and three little children.
BEKA: Yeah. A wife.
HARPER: Children. You don't have ankle biters, do you?
BEKA: What? Rhade, you never mentioned
RHADE: They're dead. What if we're backwards? Is there another Beka Valentine out there, another Maru, with another Seamus Harper riding shotgun? Or have they been cosmically erased by your arrival here?
BEKA: I'm so sorry, Rhade.
RHADE: The party's over.

[Tunnel]

TRANCE: You rescued me.
ORLUND: All in a day's work. Besides dealing with them, they keep trying to steal our secrets. You know, Vedran technology must be respected. It's beautiful, symmetrical, and bestows powers these plunderers can't possibly imagine, let alone be trusted to use wisely. And they never learn.
TRANCE: Well I often wondered what it would be like being the one to be saved. It's nice.
ORLUND: Any time, your Highness. Anyway, it should be safe now. Safe for you to go.
TRANCE: Go where?

[Vedran chamber]

(Orlund puts a code into a keypad and opens the heavy door. The room contains eight more doors and a pedestal with crystals.)
TRANCE: Oh, this is extraordinary! Is this Vedran too? How did you find this place?
ORLUND: It was destiny. That's what they do with you, the Vedrans. I was working the blink shift, sweeping the rails. My father's route, and his father before him.
TRANCE: But no one ever sees your work.
ORLUND: I see it. That's what matters.
TRANCE: But you don't know why you work, do you?
ORLUND: Knowing up here is not as important as knowing in here.
TRANCE: Your heart is in the right place. It's a good thing for me to remember.

[Command]

BEKA: Damn. I thought for sure if I didn't tell him I was coming, he'd be here. Andromeda?
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Dylan's not here.
BEKA: Yeah, I. You know, I liked it a lot better when you were about a million times smarter than me.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: So did I.
HARPER: Find him?
BEKA: No.
HARPER: Well, where the heck is he?

[Corridor]

HARPER: I mean, usually, his only focus is trying to get Andromeda up and running again on fumes, no less. You know, Doyle's nowhere to be found either.
BEKA: Looks like we're both out of luck.
HARPER: Hey, you don't think they're trying to avoid us, do you?
BEKA: Why, just because he owes me eight thousand fifty two canaa he knows I need today? And she would probably rather play High Guard mechanic than bartender's assistant.
(The lights flicker.)
BEKA: I don't know why I bother coming back here.
HARPER: She doesn't mean it, Andromeda.
ANDROMEDA [on screen]: Yes she does, Harper.
HARPER: This situation leaves me no choice but to activate Doyle's beacon.
BEKA: Wait. You have Doyle on a tracking device?
HARPER: Yeah. It's just a precaution, for her own good.
BEKA: Wow.
HARPER: Wait a minute. There's no signal. Why is there no signal?
BEKA: It serves you right. She probably found it and ripped it out with her bare hands. Where does it say she ditched it?
HARPER: Well, the last transmission was about half a mile underground, in a tunnel. Beka looks at Harper, then they both turn and hurry down the corridor.

[Vedran chamber]

ORLUND: Kind of perfect, isn't it? A man from the lowest strata of Seefran society, chosen to find this.
TRANCE: You know a lot about the Vedrans.
ORLUND: Oh, we all grew up with the myths. But when I found this place, that's when I began understanding, to really get inside their heads.
TRANCE: Have you ever told anyone about this?
ORLUND: No, are you kidding? And risk vandals finding it? Hell, I'm in enough trouble if they ever come back.
TRANCE: I can't see why. You've taken such good care of it.
ORLUND: Oh, I've done a lot more than that. I've found enough missing keys to make a complete set. A key for each door. A door for each chamber. Seefra Two, Seefra Three, Seefra Four.
TRANCE: Which one is for Seefra One?
ORLUND: We're on Seefra one. With these, I can open any door, even though I'm not Vedran. I know their secrets. I stole their High Guard patch.
(He uncovers the insignia he hid earlier.)
ORLUND: They won't be happy about that.
TRANCE: They won't be happy that the chosen one knows about their secret? Or, perhaps you were chosen to discover their secrets. That's how I feel sometimes.
ORLUND: No one really understands the Vedrans. Better to be safe than sorry. Are you hungry? Here I am promising to protect you, and I haven't even asked if you've eaten.

[Petrified chamber]

DOYLE: Dylan, this man is petrified but not decayed at all, like something turned it to stone.
HUNT: And I thought I was worried about Trance before.

[Tunnel]

(They kill more troglodytes.)
HUNT: All right, let's go.
(They pass another sensor.)

[Vedran chamber]

(Orlund's bracer beeps.)
ORLUND: It's one of my traps.
TRANCE: Traps? You set the traps? The ones you warned me about?
ORLUND: I have to check it.
(Orlund puts the crystal in the Seefra Two door lock. It opens and he activates the tesseract tunnel, then leads Trance through.)

[Seefra Two Vedran chamber]

ORLUND: I'm sorry. I can't leave you out there alone. Please wait in here.
TRANCE: This room is just like the last one.
ORLUND: Oh, it only looks that way. Anyway, you'll be safe. Oh. When I come back I'll let you back in.
TRANCE: Okay.
(He activates the tesseract tunnel and leaves Trance.)

[Tunnel]

HUNT: Whoa. Hold it right there, pal. Turn around, arms up high.
ORLUND: Please, I'm just a poor tunnel dweller who doesn't want any
(Orlund tries to petrify Hunt, but it just hurts him instead.)
ORLUND: Trouble. It didn't affect you.
HUNT: Define affect.
ORLUND: That can only mean one thing. You're, you're Paradine.
HUNT: Doyle, wait! You said Paradine.
ORLUND: Oh, yeah. I know all about you and your race. Transfigured Vedrans.
DOYLE: Dylan, he has no idea what he's talking about.
ORLUND: I know a lot more than I'm talking about. Do you recognise it?
HUNT: It's Vedran.
ORLUND: You see? I knew I was right, when it didn't kill you like everyone else.
HUNT: It must be a DNA sniffer.
DOYLE: A weapon that detects the DNA of whoever it's fired on.
HUNT: Yeah, operates on the same principle as a forcelance.
DOYLE: Then why didn't it kill you?
HUNT: I don't know. Maybe it's not programmed for my DNA.
ORLUND: But every organic from Perseid to Ogami to Human is programmed in. Everything but Vedran and Paradine.
DOYLE: Ingenious. A weapon incapable of friendly fire.
HUNT: Oh, it's not that friendly.
DOYLE: I hate to tell you, but that's not going to do anything to me.
(Orlund shoots Doyle, who falls to her knees.)
DOYLE: Unless, of course, it uses electrical charge.
ORLUND: Lose it.
(Doyle slides her gun to Orlund, who slides shackles back to the pair.)
ORLUND: Put these on. Move it.
(Orlund holds the other end of the chain attached to the pair of shackles.)
DOYLE: Just say the word and we'll jump him.
HUNT: No, he knows too much. I need to find out what it is.

[Vedran chamber]

ORLUND: Amazed I found it, huh? Move it.
(Orlund takes the Seefra Five crystal and activates the tesseract tunnel. He takes them through.)

[Seefra Five Vedran chamber]

(The pedestal here has no crystals either.)
DOYLE: What is this, some kind of maze?
ORLUND: It's too late to plead ignorance, so don't bother.
HUNT: Well, we just want to talk. We're looking for someone.
ORLUND: I might as well admit, you're looking at him. Now I just have to make sure you can't go back and tell your Paradine friends about me.
DOYLE: You seem awfully afraid of that.
HUNT: Yeah, the Paradines are the good guys, remember? Or are you just a really, really bad guy?
ORLUND: I've done nothing but preserve the Vedran legacy. But I'm not stupid enough to expect thanks for it. I know they'll want to punish me. I have to go. I have someone waiting for me.
HUNT: What do you have, another hostage?
ORLUND: A friend. A princess. Goodbye.
DOYLE: We're not the only ones. There are hundreds of angry Paradines on the way. You might as well just give yourself up.
ORLUND: You're bluffing.
(Orlund leaves, and the door closes.)
HUNT: You hear that? A princess.
DOYLE: Trance.
HUNT: Ah ha.
DOYLE: We have to get out of here.
HUNT: Yeah, like ten minutes ago. Would you mind?
DOYLE: Not at all.
(Doyle pulls the shackles apart.)
HUNT: Thank you.
(Hunt tries to activate the tesseract back, and fails.)
HUNT: Come on! Er, we need the key.
(Orlund returns to Seefra One and activates the Seefra Two door.)
HUNT: There's no way out.
DOYLE: Where do you suppose they all lead to?
HUNT: I have no idea. Hey, why don't you run the Vedran code through your programming? See if there's another way to unlock these things.
DOYLE: Efforting. Are you okay?
HUNT: I don't feel so hot.
DOYLE: I think my circuits are melting.
HUNT: Yeah.
(He sits on a metal crate and leaps up again.)
HUNT: Oh God! That's hot! It's really hot.
(Doyle takes the lid off the crate. It is full of crystals.)
HUNT: It's charged quartz.
DOYLE: Lots of it. On Seefra One? And why is it hot?
HUNT: Looks like it's getting hotter by the minute.
DOYLE: Dylan, by my calculations you only have six minutes.
HUNT: Six minutes for what?
DOYLE: To live.
HUNT: Ha, that's plenty of time. I like it when things get hot. It's never easy.

[Seefra Two Vedran chamber]

(Trance is by the pedestal.)
TRANCE: Light, illumination, creation. There is no place where light cannot be born. I know I used to do this before. Dylan wouldn't lie to me.
ORLUND: Dylan?
TRANCE: I didn't realise I was being watched.
ORLUND: You going to try to tell me you were summoning up your Royal guards?
TRANCE: You said you would protect me, and then you just left me here, locked out. Why are you angry?
(Orlund shackles Trance's wrists.)
ORLUND: I should have known. It's too coincidental, you showing up in the tunnel when you did. So out of place, so lost. You're Paradine, and you're with them.
TRANCE: Paradine? No! I'm a princess, remember?
ORLUND: You came to investigate me. I fell for it. I told you everything!
TRANCE: You were playing this sweet game. And you were so gallant. I like you very much, but I don't think you're well right now.
ORLUND: Perhaps I'm crazed, but I'm dedicated, Willing to do whatever it takes. That's not the same thing. Now I have two of your soldiers in prison, so unless you call off this inquisition, I will be forced to let them die.
TRANCE: Soldiers? I don't have. What do these soldiers look like?
ORLUND: Why don't we just use the same name, since we both know it? Dylan.

[Seefra Five Vedran chamber]

DOYLE: Four minutes thirty two seconds.
HUNT: Thanks, Doyle. Thanks for the countdown on my life. How's the search going?
DOYLE: It's not working.
HUNT: Furs from Seefra Three.
DOYLE: Look at this. The carving from Seefra Eight, all this money? Where did he get this? We should have killed him when we had the chance.
HUNT: Killed him? Then we wouldn't have found out where Trance is.
DOYLE: We don't know where Trance is. We're just guessing. All he said was he had someone to get back to. I can't believe Harper programmed me to get headaches.
HUNT: Well, at least he didn't program you to sweat.
DOYLE: Maybe, maybe not. You know, considering the circumstances, you're pretty calm.
HUNT: We have to stay calm or we'll make things worse.
DOYLE: Do not manage me, okay? I am programmed to freak out like any human, so that's what I'm doing!
HUNT: I'm not trying to manage you, Doyle. I'm trying to manage the situation.
DOYLE: Oh, like you managed to splinter your entire crew? Strip them of everything and leave them to scratch out a living in the middle of nowhere?
HUNT: Hey, I'm trying to do everything I can to fix what's happening to my crew.
DOYLE: I can't believe I just said that.
HUNT: Yeah, but that's what they think, right?
DOYLE: No, it isn't.
HUNT: They think all I care about is fixing Andromeda. You know what? They're wrong. They are wrong! Sorry, Doyle. Look, no one's going to die. Okay? Come here. We're not going to die.

[Tunnel]

HARPER: Somewhere around here is where her tracking signal went dead.
BEKA: Wonder what could have happened to them.
(They find the petrified troglodytes.)
HARPER: Hopefully not that.

[Seefra Five Vedran chamber]

(Hunt pushes over a load of carpets leaning against the wall.)
HUNT: Found something. It's another door.
DOYLE: Well, it's not like the others, so maybe the Vedran codes will work on it. Look at that. They're heating up. I'm doing that. I, I'm heating up the crystals.
HUNT: It's from the electromagnetic energy you're generating.
DOYLE: I guess one of us going to die after all.
HUNT: I don't plan to.
DOYLE: I mean me. If you can call it dying. If I power down, the EM reactions will stop and you'll live.
HUNT: That's a last resort, Doyle, but you've given me an idea.
(Hunt rubs Doyle's neck.)
DOYLE: Oh Dylan, I'm flattered, but we don't have time for this.
HUNT: Not that kind of idea. But don't think I haven't thought about it. Excuse me. Where is your subdermal power converter? Rommie's was in her neck.
DOYLE: I have no idea. Why?
(He starts to works his way down her spine.)
HUNT: Well, if your EME can affect those crystals, then maybe, just maybe, we can override this magnetic locking mechanism on this door. First, we have to increase the output of your converter.
DOYLE: But that will make it really hot in here, and the air poisonous to you.
HUNT: Like it makes a difference at this point. Besides, that's exactly why it will work.
DOYLE: Excuse me?
HUNT: The best solutions are also the most illogical.
DOYLE: Yeah, you can't program that kind of thinking.
HUNT: Got it.
(Right by her coccyx.)
DOYLE: Ooo! I see what you mean. I'll take it from here.
(The new door opens.)
HUNT: Counter logic to the rescue. Let's get out of here.
DOYLE: Hold on. I'm too turned on. I mean up. I have to cycle back down first. Phew.
HUNT: Better?
DOYLE: Every day I discover something new Harper programmed into me. Let's go.

[Vedran chamber]

(There is a pounding going on.)
TRANCE: Why are we back on Seefra One?
(Orlund is hammering something, and making the whole chamber shake.)
ORLUND: Because you tricked me! You tricked me so I'd tell you what I knew.
TRANCE: What are you going to do?
ORLUND: Stop the other Paradines from finding this place. Who knows what they will do to me?
TRANCE: They will be grateful you have restored it.
ORLUND: They'll be furious I invaded! There's only one way.
TRANCE: What are you doing?
ORLUND: This is the only key to Seefra One. This way I'll only have to guard one door. I have to stop the other Paradines from finding me.
TRANCE: That doesn't make any sense.
ORLUND: I was entrusted to guard these chambers with my life! My princess, if I fail, I'll have disgraced my father and my grandfather. I can't live with that. I can't be separated from my work.
TRANCE: All of the planets have chambers.
ORLUND: But if I destroy it, it will destroy all of the chambers on all of the planets.
TRANCE: And all of the planets as well. I don't know how I know that. I just do.
(Orlund continues hammering at the crystal.)

[Tunnel]

(The whole place is shaking.)
BEKA: Tunnel dwellers, roasting temperatures, earthquakes. No wonder I don't hang out here.
HARPER: Andromeda.
ANDROMEDA [on comms]: Harper, you wanted to know when Doyle's signal reappeared. It has, on Seefra Five.
BEKA: Seefra Five? I don't think so.
HARPER: Thank you, Andromeda. I want her to feel included.
(With each hammer blow, energy streaks from Seefra One to the other planets.)

[Seefra Five tunnel]

HUNT: Wait, wait, wait. Up this ladder.

[Seefra Five town]

(Some loudspeakers are blasting out jazz.)
DOYLE: That sound.
HUNT: It's coming from up there.
VIRGIL [OC]: Friends and fellow citizens of the Seefra system.
HUNT: Hey, just what I thought.
DOYLE: You thought there would be a store where the saloon should be.
VIRGIL [OC]: There are earthquakes everywhere. I want you to look sharp, stay cool.
DOYLE: Cell broadcasters? I thought you couldn't buy those on Seefra One.
HUNT: You can't. We're on Seefra Five.
DOYLE: How can we be on Seefra Five? Are you sure?
HUNT: Look where the Methus suns are.
DOYLE: You're right! How did we get here?
HUNT: The Vedran chamber. Remember there were eight doors? Eight planets. That means each door is a different tesseract portal for a different planet.
DOYLE: When we were in the storage vault area we already were on Seefra Five. That's how Orlund got all those artefacts.
VIRGIL [OC]: Stay cool, look sharp. Survive. Survive the earthquakes.
DOYLE: Trance is on Seefra One.
HUNT: And so's everyone else.
DOYLE: What's causing the earthquakes?
HUNT: I don't know. Maybe Orlund might be trying to destroy the Methus crystal thinking it's just a key.
DOYLE: In fact, it contains all the programming information for the planet. We have to get out of here.
HUNT: Yeah, I'm right behind you.

{Seefra Five Vedran chamber]

HUNT: All right, this is the way we came in. This is our tesseract door.
DOYLE: I doubt my EME can go high enough to power a tesseract.
HUNT: You're right. We need more juice. The crystals.
DOYLE: The charged quartz in addition to the Vedran codes.
HUNT: You can't program that kind of thinking.
DOYLE: Codes in place.
(With one hand on the door control, Doyle puts her other hand on the crystals.)
DOYLE: Oh, what a rush.
HUNT: All right, here we go.
(Hunt puts his hand on the door. It opens to reveal the tesseract.)
HUNT: Showtime.

[Vedran chamber]

HUNT: Orlund! Stop!
ORLUND: I won't be punished for preserving my sanctuary.
HUNT: No one's going to punish you, okay? No one's going to hurt you. Just give me the crystal.
ORLUND: I'm not falling for that.
HUNT: Listen! You're not just closing off the tunnel with Seefra One. This whole planet will collapse if you destroy that crystal.
ORLUND: I swept these tunnels. Cleaned them. My father swept these tunnels. My grandfather. No one ever noticed us. No one ever appreciated us, though we were here all along, toiling under the surface.
HUNT: You deserve the recognition. I will make sure that you get it.
(Trance's hands and shackles glow red hot. The metal melts.)
ORLUND: I deserve glory. I was chosen.
(Trance grabs Orlund's hammer arm. He drops it as they struggle, but random shots from the petrifying gun pepper the chamber. Hunt and Doyle hide behind the pedestal until the shots stop. Trance has the gun pointing at Orlund's stomach. Hunt stand up with the hammer.)
TRANCE: Dylan, no. You're stronger than I am, yet you pretend like you cannot take this away from me. You want me to kill you.
(Orlund takes off the gun and steps back.)
ORLUND: Do it. Instead of honouring your legacy, I pillaged it for my own use. I deserve to die.
HUNT: Orlund, look at me. You are guilty of what you say. But you've also done good. Good that I am sworn to recognise. And as your High Guard Captain, I order you to remain in these tunnels and guard this chamber.
ORLUND: Yes, Captain.
(They salute each other.)
HUNT: Remember. Remember what this insignia stands for.
(Trance gives Hunt the petrifying gun. Orlund goes down on one knee to kiss her hand.)
TRANCE: No. No. You have made me a princess.
(So he stands to kiss her hand instead.)

[Command]

(Hunt hands large bags of coins to Harper, Rhade, Beka and Doyle.)
RHADE: Dylan, we're touched, but you called us here to give us new purses?
HUNT: Ha, ha. Back pay?
BEKA: Back pay as in real cash money?
HUNT: Hmm mmm.
HARPER: What did you do, rob a bank?
HUNT: Ha, ha, again.
HARPER: Kidding, just kidding.
HUNT: It's from Orlund's stockpile.
TRANCE: He insisted on donating everything he had to the cause. It was the only way he believed that Dylan would forgive him.
HUNT: And not only was there enough money in his underground vaults to pay back my debt to you
TRANCE: There is enough crystal quartz to get Andromeda up to seventy percent power.
HUNT: Andromeda.
ANDROMEDA [on viewscreen]: Greetings, everyone.
HOLO-ROMMIE: At your service. Full service, that is.
HUNT: So, for the first time since we've been here, her processor is now fully functional.
TRANCE: And thirty percent more, we might even be able to get Rommie back.
HUNT: Yeah, but in the meantime, we're still stuck here, and I know we all have our own little agendas but hopefully we don't have to be at each other's throats.
(Harper takes Rhade's bag of coins, then gives it back.)
BEKA: Well, Dylan, I for one knew you were good for it all along.
HARPER: Hey, I knew too. I knew.
BEKA: That's right, Harper, just go the way the wind's blowing.
HARPER: Well, when the wind is getting brownie points
RHADE: The problem is, we have to find a solution in ourselves.
BEKA: What is that supposed to mean?
(Rhade gives his money to Harper.)
RHADE: Don't spend it all in one place.
(Rhade then hands his hip flask to Hunt.)
RHADE: I quit.
HUNT: You quit like in you quitting drinking? Is he quitting?
BEKA: Yeah. In fact, looks like Trance saved three lives today.
HARPER: Rhade. Hold up, buddy.
BEKA: Coming, Trance?
TRANCE: Yeah.
(Rhade and Harper, Trance and Beka leave. Holo-Rommie switches off.)
DOYLE: When Trance was fighting Orlund, you could have stepped in to stop him, but you didn't. Did you know he wouldn't harm her?
HUNT: She needed to start believing in herself again.
DOYLE: Do you think she does?
HUNT: What do you think?
