Young Sheldon – Season 6 Episode 11 Recap & Review

Ruthless, Toothless, and a Week of Bed Rest

Episode 11 of Young Sheldon season 6 begins with Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis working on the grant database. While they are there, their investor bothers them by suggesting names for it.

Meemaw and Mary accompany Mandy to the hospital, and George Jr joins them later. The doctor informs them that Mandy’s blood pressure is concerning, so he puts her on bed rest for a week and asks them to return in a week for a checkup.

Sheldon goes to Dr. Linkletter’s office to ask him a question about his lecture. Sheldon finds another student in the office working on algorithms for a searchable database. Sheldon discovers that Dr. Linkletter stole his idea and that the student is programming a database for Dr. Linkletter.

Sheldon goes to the Principal’s office and confronts her about stealing his idea. She justifies the act by claiming that Dr. Linkletter assisted Sheldon in coming up with the idea. The principal makes an offer and asks Sheldon to collaborate on the idea, but Sheldon declines and insists on working on it separately, even though he doesn’t have a mainframe.

Because Mandy is unwell and Meemaw is taking care of her, George Jr struggles to manage the video store, laundromat, and gambling room together.

Meemaw prepares food for Mandy at her home. Mandy tells Meemaw that she can’t find the remote while they’re talking. When Meemaw bends down to pick up the remote, she injures her back in the process and is unable to get up. Mary pays a visit to Meemaw’s house and looks after Meemaw and Mandy.

Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis inform the investor about the database situation. The investor assures them that a little competition will not be a problem and advises them to be ruthless in their pursuit of victory.

George Jr invites his father and Missy to the video store and laundromat to assist him in managing both places while he manages the gambling room.

Mary tries to convince Mandy to make amends with her parents while taking care of her. Mandy initially refuses, but eventually, she gives in.

Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis follow the investors’ advice and bribe the student who was working for Dr. Linkletter and the Principal and hire him on their team.

Missy talks to a customer at the video store who is much older than she is. When the two of them are talking, George Sr interrupts and intimidates the boy, and he leaves. Missy is irritated because her father meddled in her business, so she takes out her irritation on one of the customers. George Sr tries to persuade her that seeing her with a man, especially an older man, makes him feel strange.

Dr. Linkletter and the principal confront Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis about stealing the student they hired to programme their database. Sheldon and Dr. Sturgis refuse to back down, so the principal threatens to withhold all of the benefits she gave Sheldon, including him being the only student in an entire dorm room.

The principal arranges for bunk beds to be installed in Sheldon’s dorm room so that three students can stay there. Sheldon immediately contacts the investor, who assures him that he will locate a used mainframe for them.

Mandy follows Mary’s advice and calls her mother; however, her mother starts asking her to apologize, so Mandy hangs up the phone. Mary pays a visit to Mandy’s mother thereafter and tells her that she must resolve her issues with Mandy, to which Mandy’s mother agrees.

Missy informs her father that she is aware that George meets Brenda Sparks in her chicken coop. George initially makes excuses, but eventually tells her that they are just friends and that he is supporting her in coping with the divorce.

When the mainframe arrives, Sheldon solves the dorm room issue by requesting that the mainframe be placed in his dorm, leaving no room for the Principal to add any bunk beds for additional students. Unfortunately, when he turns on the mainframe, the electricity to the entire University building gets cut off.

The Episode Review

This episode focuses heavily on the situation with the grant database, a possible invention Sheldon could make. While he is working on the project, we are shown the challenges he faces, and they humor the situation by sprinkling his nerdy quirky responses to situations, which is a bit entertaining.

We also see the plot move forward in terms of George Sr’s situation with Brenda. Missy is aware that her father is meeting another woman in a chicken coop, and despite George’s efforts to convince her otherwise, she remains suspicious. It’ll be interesting to see where the show goes from here.
