Koo Stark was born in New York City in 1956.

At the age of 14 she moved to London to get European education. In 1982 , the renowned photographer Norman Parkinson took it upon himself to mentor Koo's work. He trained her eye and she remained his protégé from 1982 until he passed away in 1990.

Philanthropic and charitable involvement

Patron: Julia Margaret Cameron Trust, Cancer Active, Fawcett Society.

1993: Raised £50,000 for the Rato Monastery in Southern India via the Compassion exhibit conceived and organised by Ms. Stark and held at Hamiltons Gallery. 130 Contributors included masters such as Irving Penn, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Don McCullin and Annie Leibovitz.

1993: Invited to be a patron of the Julia Margaret Cameron Trust with Olympus Camera's launch of a National Appeal to preserve JMC's house in the Isle of Wight.

Koo Stark contributes to group shows at Chelsea Arts Club group and Julia Margaret Cameron Trust and also regularly donates photographs to charities requesting her support, most recently to: 

Hearts of Gold, Blue Cross, Children with Special Needs, Parent Network, Great Ormond Children's Hospital, Julia Margaret Cameron Trust and Elton John AIDS Foundation.

Auctions and Promotions

1990 - 1996: Koo Stark's work was included in Christie's 20th Century Photographers Auctions. Her photographs have been included in auctions in UK, USA, Sotheby's, Christie's and for various charities.
