National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is an autonomous institute and offers fashion design, fashion technology, and business management courses at UG and PG levels. NIFT has almost 18 campuses all over India. NIFT courses include BDes and BFTech programmes in various specialisations. Undergraduate NIFT Courses List

NIFT offers Bachelor of Designing or BDes in a total of 6 specialisations, while BFTech course is offered in only one specialisation. The NIFT course duration of UG programmes is 4 years. Admission will be done based on candidate's performance in the NIFT exam. How to get admission to NIFT courses?

The NIFT entrance exam is conducted every year for admission to B.Des, BFTech, M.Des, MFM, and MFTech programmes at NIFT campuses. Aspirants need to qualify for the NIFT entrance exam to gain admission in NIFT courses after 12th.

NIFT is conducted at the national level once a year in 32 cities in an online computer-based mode. According to the NIFT exam pattern, the design entrance test for admission to NIFT campuses consists of three parts - The Creative Ability Test (CAT), the General Ability Test (GAT), and the Situation Test.

Students seeking admission in BFtech, MFM, and MFTech have to appear for GAT only. BDes and MDes candidates need to appear for CAT, GAT, and situation tests. NIFT entrance exam 2024 qualified candidates are invited for the NIFT counselling and seat allotment session. Aspirants have to register for the NIFT counselling by providing the required information within the stipulated time.

Based on the category merit rank NIFT and seat availability, the examination cell calls candidates for NIFT counselling sessions. Aspirants need to report to the assigned campuses to participate in the counselling session. Students are advised to carry the required documents for verification purposes. Candidates have to pay the admission fee to confirm the allotted seat. NIFT counselling is conducted in two rounds.

Eligibility criteria for admission to NIFT courses

In order to get admission into NIFT courses after 12th, candidates are required to meet the eligibility criteria laid down by the authorities. Candidates can check the NIFT eligibility criteria for admission into the courses.

  • The upper age limit for the candidates applying for Bachelor’s degree courses is 23 years (five years of relaxation for SC/ST candidates) as of August 1, 2024.

  • 10+2 level is the basic criterion for NIFT admission to Bachelor’s degree courses.

  • For seeking admission to M.Des and M.F.M courses, the applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or from NIFT.

  • For seeking admission to the M.F.Tech course, B.F.Tech/B.Tech/B.E degree is mandatory.

  • There is no upper age limit for NIFT Master’s courses.

  • Qualifying in the NIFT Entrance Test is mandatory for seeking admission to any of the courses in NIFT.

NIFT Lateral Entry Courses

NIFT also offers lateral entry admission to students who meet the required eligibility criteria. NIFT courses for lateral entry admission include BDes and BFTech. As per the NIFT eligibility criteria for lateral entry admission, candidates should be 24 years old as on August 1 of the year of admission. However, the upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 (five) years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribe/ Persons With Disabilities (PWD).

  • Passed Secondary School Examination/10th AND

  • Passed 3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE/ AIU/ UGC or a State Board of Technical Education in courses related to Fashion / Apparel / Textile and Accessories / Home Science/ Handloom Technology / Products / Visual Communication / Graphic Design / Industrial Design / Interior Design / Multimedia Design / Apparel Technology / Leather/ Fine arts. OR

  • Passed Senior Secondary /12th recognized by AIU. AND

  • Students who have completed 2 year regular UG Diploma Programme at NIFT after passing Senior Secondary Examination/ 12th standard.
