All American Twist: Taye Diggs to Return in Upcoming Season 6 Episode
All American fans haven’t seen the last of Billy Baker.
Taye Diggs, who played Coach Baker until the character’s untimely death in Season 5, will return to the CW series for a Season 6 guest appearance, TVLine has confirmed.
Diggs will appear on the May 20 installment, one week before All American hits its 100-episode milestone on May 27. It’s not yet clear how Diggs’ character will pop up in the episode, but his return comes amid Olivia (Samantha Logan) writing a biography about her late father, while Billy’s widow, Laura (Monet Mazur), has recently entertained the idea of dating again after Billy’s death.
Diggs exited All American during the Season 5 episode “Time,” in which Billy and several South Crenshaw football players were on a bus that crashed on the way home from a team event. After helping most of the passengers get out of the bus safely, Billy went back at the last minute to help Jabari evacuate the vehicle; as Jabari exited, the bus careened off the cliff it had been balancing on, and Billy was still trapped inside as it fell.
Speaking with TVLine at the time, Diggs said he would “100 percent” be open to returning in some capacity in the future, adding that “it would be a waste if we didn’t” bring Billy back via a flashback or dream sequence.
“There’s no All American without Billy Baker, and there’s no All American universe without Taye Diggs,” showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll added. “He’s always welcome back and was the first person to be like, ‘I will happily come back whenever you want me to.’ If there are organic moments, and when there are moments that it feels right for Billy to return, that is absolutely something that both Taye and the show would love to make happen. We’re not closing the door on anything or anyone.”

Exactly. There is no All American without Billy Baker, or Taye Diggs! You could’ve wrote his character as it where he jumped out before the bus fell, landed on strong branch in a tree strong enough to hold him, he passed out when he comes to realizes he is in tree nearest to the clift., manages to climb to ledge pulls himself up on top side to safety, but now does not remember where or what happened do to having amnesia! I don’t know l’m not writer like you, but please bring him back!!
Yes please bring Billy Baker back even if he has a temporary memory loss and think that he is still dating Spencer’s mom. After the bus went over he had a brain injury and forgot who he was at the moment.
Taye Diggs is an all time favorite. It would be great to see him return in some way. May jumped out of the bus onto a ledge unconscious. Anything would be great to bring him back as Billy Baker to the show. All American isy favorite series. It’s like a good book you can’t put down. Love all the main characters. Your most favorite fan.

I would love for him to come back. He was part of the main character. Yes to see him back it would make the series so much better. I knew he would come back in some kind of way because they never had a body from his bus going over the cliff edge. He could have went down with the bus and lost his memory until he returned. I really liked Taye Diggs influence on the show. I really hope he would come back maybe amnesia state. He was rescued by a stranger wondering not knowing who he was or where he came from.
