The Polish Brothers (born 30 October 1970) are Mark Polish and Michael Polish, two American film directors, writers and producers whose work has included directing Duran Duran's "(Reach Up for The) Sunrise" video.
Biography[]
Born in El Centro, California, USA, the identical twin brothers began their film careers with the 1999 first feature, Twin Falls Idaho. In 2000, they followed up Twin Falls with Jackpot, which won the 2001 Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award and the 2001 Seattle International Film Festival New American Cinema Award.
In 2005, the Polish Brothers, along with producing partner Jonathan Sheldon wrote and released a guide book for first-time filmmakers called The Declaration of Independent Filmmaking. The following year they teamed up with Warner Independent for their fourth film, The Astronaut Farmer.
The brothers launched their new production company, Prohibition Pictures along with partners Ken Johnson, Janet DuBois, and Jonathan Sheldon in 2008, in the same year they made their fifth film, Manure and sixth film, Stay Cool.
In 2010 the Polish Brothers began filming For Lovers Only, a film inspired by the French New Wave and Claude Lelouch's 1966 double Oscar-winner A Man and a Woman.
