The best parts of my school experience is the school has many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities with diverse interest outside of what is considered traditional. For instance, E-Sports are offered for students who are challenged with the physique of athletes, but still enjoy competition. Additionally, teachers are supportive when challenges occur. These challenges can be academic or social. For instance, I experienced racial slurs by students and teachers and administrators addressed it quickly, making me feel safe.
I think the administration really cares. Other local districts do not operate nearly as well. The teachers are great and the coursework is easy to understand. Teachers are forgiving, caring, helpful, and inspired. The school is clean and up to date. Lots of security and safety measures. We’ve had a lot of scares and they are tackling it well. They do not mess around about the safety of their kids. They give lots and lots of options for all types of learners whether it be reduced school days for some or fully online for others or complete normal in person. Whitmer does it all!
My time at Whitmer Highschool has been great! I love the staff there because they truly feel like a family. The teachers are great they do their jobs well and are there for you when you need help whether it be academically or help with personnel issues or struggles. I've made so many great connections with teachers I've personally had and with teachers I haven't had. The staff are always positive and are there if you need any help. I am involved in extracurriculars such as NHS and tennis, I've been part of NHS for about 3 years and part of the tennis team for all 4 years of highschool. One thing I wish would change is the girls tennis coach because I she doesn't really have enough experience with tennis and she's unfair with her judgment. I say this because I've experienced how she treats me while I was on the tennis team and it was quite different from how she would treat the others. But my time at Whitmer was very pleasant and I'm excited and ready for what college brings to my life.
