Cathy is set to come home as Doon Mackichan is confirmed to reprise her role in BBC Studios Comedy Productions’ multi-award-winning sitcom Two Doors Down. The much-loved show is now filming its seventh series which will also see the programme’s move to BBC One. The six-episode run is set to transmit later this year.

Doon Mackichan said: "I have missed the Two Doors Down family very much so it’s a genuine delight to see Cathy bring her unique brand of community spirit back to Latimer Crescent. Beth - get a bottle open."

Co-creators Gregor Sharp and Simon Carlyle said: “Doon is one of the UK’s very best comic actors, so we’re thrilled to bits that she’s returned to pick up Cathy’s vape and rejoin the rest of our brilliant cast.”

Steven Canny, Executive Producer added: “It’s a total pleasure to welcome Doon back to the family. We’ve been making Two Doors Down for a decade and couldn’t be happier that Cathy has come home again.”

Last series, viewers saw Cathy’s husband Colin left broken hearted as she had left for a new life in Sharm El Sheikh. The neighbours rallied round to support him at his lowest, but will they all be as quick to welcome back Cathy?

The stellar cast back this series includes Jonathan Watson as Colin, Arabella Weir as Beth, Alex Norton as Eric, Elaine C Smith as Christine, Jamie Quinn as Ian, Kieran Hodgson as Gordon, Joy McAvoy as Michelle, and Graeme ‘Grado’ Stevely as Alan.

Two Doors Down has steadily built a fan base that has consistently grown with each series. The most recent Christmas special attracted its highest audience to date with 2.8million viewing the special across 30 days on all screens. This marked the show’s highest audience since its launch in 2013.

Two Doors Down is a BBC Studios Comedy Production for BBC One and BBC iPlayer, written by Simon Carlyle and Gregor Sharp. The Executive Producers are Steven Canny and Josh Cole, the Producer is Jacqueline Sinclair for BBC Studios. Seb Barwell is the Commissioning Editor for the BBC.

All previous series of Two Doors Down are available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
