Celebrating 50 years of extraordinary performances, the Kronos Quartet will offer a dizzying array of pieces originally written for them. With over 70 recordings to its credit and thousands of performances under its belt, the Kronos Quartet is an elite ensemble that is also one of the most open-minded, as evidenced by the wide range of music they play. The ensemble has received many awards for its work of the past half century, including multiple Grammies and the Avery Fisher, Edison Klassiek Oeuvre and Polar Music prizes. As advocates for new music, they have commissioned over 1,000 pieces from composers of every background—with no end in sight.
Pre-concert Event: 6:30 p.m., Whittall Pavilion. The post-concert Nightcap Conversation with the Artists will be help onstage following the concert.
