Papua New Guinea

- a part of the former country of New Guinea in South-East Asia. The British and Australian governments had colonial interests there from 1888. Papua New Guinea has been a member of the Commonwealth since it became fully independent in 1975. Its official language is English and its capital city is Port Moresby.
