CLARE KILNER: is a multi-award-winning director and screenwriter based in Los Angeles and London. Clare is noted for her playful comedic style and strong understanding of performance. Her warm and witty exploration of social misfits and dysfunctional human beings lends her work universal appeal. Born in the UK and raised in Argentina, she speaks fluent Spanish and has an MA in film and television directing from the Royal College of Art.

Clare began her career working at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Her passion for movies led her to write and direct her first short film, SAPLINGS, which gained her a place at the prestigious Royal College of Art. Here she earned her Masters in film and television directing.

Clare’s  first feature, the heart-warming, JANICE BEARD 45wpm, starring Rhys Ifans won critical praise and numerous awards at many festivals including Toronto, Tokyo, Edinburgh and Aspen.  The movie was released theatrically in Europe, the US and Japan.

JANICE BEARD’s universal appeal propelled Clare stateside where New Line approached her to direct HOW TO DEAL with Mandy Moore, Alison Janney and Peter Gallagher. The movie’s success brought her to the attention of Universal, for whom she directed THE WEDDING DATE starring Debra Messing, Dermot Mulroney and Amy Adams.  

Clare has recently carved out a successful career directing a wide range of critically acclaimed TV shows, such as her most recent work on House Of The Dragon for HBO where she directed three episodes in season one. Her recent credits include such shows as The Alienist, Mosquito Coast, Pennyworth and Snowpiercer as well as Good Behavior among others.

Clare currently divides her time between TV and Film projects including directing and writing TV pilots.
