National Treasure: Edge Of History Season 2: Renewed or Canceled?

The first season of ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ has officially wrapped up on Disney+ as of early February 2023.

Now that season has ended, the biggest question remaining is if and when we might see ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ return for season 2? Read on for everything we know about season 2!

Will There Be A ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ Season 2?

Official Renewal Status: Canceled

Disney hasn’t officially confirmed whether ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ will return for season 2, but we think the show will likely be canceled. However, this will ultimately come down to how the first season performs.

Disney+ is expected to have a tighter budget in the upcoming years, so if ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ hasn’t seen significant viewership, the series will likely be cancelled. Disney hasn’t released any exact viewership numbers, but the series has been on the trending charts numerous times, which is a good sign.

We’ll be sure to update this article when we hear news on season 2 for National Treasure: Edge of History.

UPDATE 4/21/23 – Deadline has reported that the Disney+ original series “National Treasure: Edge of History” will not return for a second season.

‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ Season 2 Release Date

As Disney hasn’t confirmed if ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ will return for a second season, no official release date has been announced.

If ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ is renewed for a second season, we expect it to arrive on Disney+ sometime in 2024.

There is no pattern on how long it takes for Disney to announce if a show is returning for future seasons. Sometimes shows are renewed before the first season has even aired; sometimes, an announcement is made during the finale episode; or sometimes, it takes months for a renewal announcement.

We’ll update this article with any official news once its announced.

What is ‘National Treasure: Edge of History’ About?

“National Treasure: Edge of History” focuses on a young heroine, Jess (Lisette Olivera), a brilliant and resourceful DREAMer who embarks on the adventure of a lifetime to uncover the truth about her family’s mysterious past and save a lost Pan-American treasure.  Cast also includes Academy and Tony Award®-winning actress Catherine Zeta-Jones and Justin Bartha will guest star in the series, reprising his role as Riley Poole.

In addition, the series also stars Zuri Reed (“Flatbush Misdemeanors”) as Tasha, Jess’ ride-or-die friend who joins the treasure hunt but is forced to reevaluate her belief system to help her best friend; Antonio Cipriano (“Jagged Little Pill” on Broadway) as Oren, a lovable but self-obsessed goofball with an encyclopedic knowledge of conspiracy theories that attempts to win back Tasha’s affections; Jordan Rodrigues (“Lady Bird”) as Ethan, Jess’ childhood best friend who has loved her since the day they met; Jake Austin Walker (“Rectify”) as Liam, a swoon-worthy struggling musician, with a permanent chip on his shoulder, who comes from a long line of treasure hunters; Catherine Zeta-Jones (“Chicago”) as Billie, a badass billionaire, black-market antiquities expert and treasure hunter who lives by her own code; and Lyndon Smith (“Parenthood”) as FBI Agent Ross, a dogged investigator who begins to realize there’s a greater conspiracy at hand.

Jerry Bruckheimer, Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, Jonathan Littman and Kristie Anne Reed executive produce the series alongside Rick Muirragui, who also serves as a writer. Jon Turteltaub is also an executive producer. Mira Nair is directing and executive producing.

  7. I bet Walt is kicking his casket at the idiots running his empire these days. Built upon family values only to be turned into purely “if don’t turn a profit” can it. This is leaving utter rubbish being produced whilst the good stuff is terminated.
