A Diamond Select Release. Sculpted by Gentle Giant Studios. The best-selling Marvel Select line is proud to add another of the Marvel movie franchises to its lineup. This time the movie Thor makes his Marvel Select debut. Based on the likeness of actor Chris Hemsworth from the upcoming May 2011 blockbuster, this movie-accurate Thor figure includes Marvel Select's standard 16 points of articulation. As an added bonus, the figure comes packaged with a display stand based on the mythical rainbow bridge that can be combined with the base from the Loki movie figure to form a diorama.

This figure looks a lot like Chris Hemsworth, and is a great quality sculpt. I got it as a collector's item, so I haven't taken it out of the package but it looks pretty durable.
Since no product listing ANYWHERE lists the size of the figure, I'll state that this figure is 7 inches tall and looks really great, capturing Hemsworth's likeness well, as well as his awesome costume.
Now, the figure comes with 2 things -- his hammer, which he can only hold in his right hand, and a huge circular base that is meant to be joined with a piece that comes with the Loki figure. Both pieces are pointless separately (I don't have the Loki figure, but I assume it's useless without Thor's base). Since I have no plans on getting the Loki figure, the big circular base that came with this is just a big disc.
Anyway, this toy is not for kids. There are some sharp edges and the articulation borders on a joke. The knees barely bend, the ankles barely move, and arms hardly rotate too. You can pretty much display him as he is out of the box and that's about it. I don't think children will get much mileage out of him.
So, if this is just for display - I recommend it! If it's meant for play, get one of the little ones you'll find in a toy store or convenience store.
This is the second action figure Thor of same character I bought and both broke. Soon as I was trying to setup a position for the toys to the first one the both feet broke and for the second toys it was the right arm. I believe the quality of this particular action figure is no good, I cannot say the same of other Diamond Select toys for example Iron Man versions are very flexible and adaptable to any position. This review is for the product no for the store, the store in general is good. Thanks.
Muy bonito juguete, muy fino, mi hijo está muy contento con él y se divierte mucho, la pieza resulta inclusive para colección ya que es muy bonito y con buenos detalles del personaje del cine.
Had this figure for a couple years, but I'll review it now. This is a nice action figure of Thor from the first movie.
The sculpting and painting are nicely done with lots of details in the suit. It has a nice likeness to Chris Hemsworth as well. The cape is a bit long though, and the ankles on mine tend to bend forward so it sometimes falls over. It stands at about 7.25 inches tall.
Accessories: his hammer Mjolnir that can be held in his right hand, and a circular two-level base that combines with the pieces from the Loki figure to form part of the Bifrost to re-enact the climax of the movie.
Articulation: ball-jointed head; hinge-rotation at shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, and ankles; rotation at wrists and waist. The articulation is quite limited in that there's not much range of movement in the joints. It tends to fall forwards easily which could be caused by the long cape and ankles tending to bend forward.
Overall it's a great looking figure with nice paint and sculpting, but articulation isn't the best. He still looks great standing straight on my shelf with my other Marvel Select action figures.
Recently arrived in mail "early" a'plus on that. No damage, packed very well. Couple of issues with figure thou.1= came with a,cheesy 2,piece plastic stand that was missing a, center spear,or long sword of some kind.no biggie since im not using stand.so i,wont be taking the time to send it back for replacement. 2= I,cant get figure to pose like in photo. Right arm is stiff, wants to push outward . Was able to pose to satisfaction thou..3= seems once you move any of the joints they become very loose. Its not like im going to play with figure like toy.lol just showcasing it. this however is an amazingly detailed figure. Its bigger then expected but, thats ok.likeness is amazing!! And i've found that if i'bend legs slightly outwards,it stands perfeclty balanced wile utilizing cape as a, stand.lol if price was lower i'd give 5*s . But for a,display, awesome!!
