We booked a trip to the Cotswolds with Tours By Locals and so glad we did. I enjoy London, but it has become an extremely congested busy city even in the Westminister area where many of the historic attractions are located. A trip to the Cotswolds was like a breath of fresh air. The rolling fields, the trees, the fields of yellow flowers called 'rape seed' (bad name for a plant that is used to make a cooking oil), as well as sheep, and cows. The buildings are ancient and that is their charm. The 'Cotswold' area is huge (800 acres) with many villages and town each with their own character and charm. So glad we took this day trip from London!

Just spent a wonderful day courtesy of Premier Tours - Lunch at the prettiest village in Britain at the Cotswolds. A delightful getaway during our trip to London to see the countryside villages of Cotswolds. Our adventure began in Burford village visiting the shops and having tea and breakfast desert at a quaint bakery. From there our travel led to Bibery, “the prettiest village in Britain “. A 2 course lunch was at the cozy Swan Hotel. Final stop for us was at Bourton on the Water, a quite lovely village of shops pubs, and eateries of all sorts. Our tour guide,Nicholas, was wonderful. To Nicholas:
There once was a guide named Nicholas
Whose humor would ofttimes tickle us.
    He was gracious as gold
    on the trip to Cotswolds
The info he shared quite ridiculous. (a lot)
HATS OFF to Silvious, our “chauffeur “ who drove with skill and aplomb - “da bomb”.
    Would highly recommend this tour.

This review is primarily about the tour guide. Let me state the obvious first. Cotswolds is magical. The experience, the visuals and the environment are amazing. I could spend my entire summer there, but I still want more. Oxford brings an awe. Looking at the old college building, I just wanted to come to Oxford and study again, even though I hate studying. It's worth going to these places.

The extra star in my review is simply for James, our tour guide. He was a delight. He had so many stories to share and he's a master storyteller. He never seems rushed or flustered. The best thing about him was that he seemed more interested in telling us about the places than in us knowing about the places. Wonderful person and guide. Highly recommended and if you got to change your date to get him as your tour guide? Worth it!

We are a couple, both over 75, mobile and occasionally slow. Tour #1 on May 31st 2024. Guide: Richard. Left right on time and returned right on time.Easy walk from train station. Richard was MOST EXCELLENT - full of knowledge, good humour, clear speaking, clear directions, excellent driving, great commentary on the drive (sound quality good over coack speakers). The places we stopped in and those we drove by were just as advertised, each different than the others, each delightful in its own way. My personal favorite stop was Avebury walking among the Henge stones and grazing sheep. Nothing disappointed. Nice mix of fellow passengers. Comfortable coach. Some of commentary enroute is prerecorded by Maddy, the owner. Again clear speaking, very knowledgeable, etc. Richard passes around photos of relevant sights and some flint tools to hold.

Our wonderful guide, Dave, gave us a comprehensive, fun and enlightening introduction to many of the Cotswolds’ villages. It was a great day and a great start to our five days in the Cotswolds!

This trip to the Cotswolds was on my wife's bucket list for her 60th birthday! We arranged an 8-person tour for our family ranging in age from 7 through 65. We discovered Jamie, who had an outstanding way of communicating with us, and assured us our trip was perfect. We took the train from London's Paddington Station and arrived in Moreton-in-Marsh at about 10:00 am on what turned out to be a heavenly day. Jamie promptly escorted us to the local market where we could refresh and grab some snacks for the excursion. We ventured across Batsford, Broad Camden, and Chipping Camden where we saw a mixture of thatch-roofed houses and grand estates and toured the Tower at Broadway - the viewing tower is the highest point in the Cotswolds offering wonderful panoramic views! We stopped at a local lavender field where the blooms were just starting to open.

We made our way to Snowshill where there were stately homes, quaint cottages, a lovely country pub that dates back to 1865, and St. Barnabas Church - constructed about 1850. We stopped for lunch at the Swan Inn, a lovely spot in the village of Broadway which dates back to the 1500's as a stage coach stop. Jamie inspired our lunch and shared some insights about the village and we then spent some time leisurely strolling about High Street stopping in the many shops.

Off to Upper Slaughter where we happened upon some locals who were enjoying a cooling dip in the River Eye which travels through Lower Slaughter. Both the Upper and Lower Slaughter are quaint villages with beautiful touches of history. Jamie provided wonderful insight on the area and we were able to get to know him and a bit about his family a little better. On to Bourton-on-the-Water where we enjoyed some ice cream and shopping along a village that straddles the River Windrush with its five arched-stone bridges. The buildings and structures have an amazing honey-colored stone hue in their architecture. From there it was a short drive to Stow-on-the-Wold where we strolled through the small market town and spotted the oldest English inn - The Porch House from A.D. 946. We even visited St. Edward's Church where two ancient yew trees stand at attention at the church doors which is said to have inspired J.R.R. Tolkien in The Lord of the Rings!

Jamie was an empathic man who shared what he loved - the quintessential Cotswolds! We relished the seven hours of exploring the Cotswolds with him as our shepherd as he guided us through a thousand years of wonders. My family LOVED every moment of that day. Enjoy the private tour of Cotswolds Adventures!!!

Our preferred tour was cancelled at last minute and there was no advance notice given by both the tour agency and Viator.

Even though Golden Tours had attempted to replace it with a similar tour package, it was still not want we actually preferred. The visit to Shakespeare birthplace was condensed and we didn’t manage to visit Shakespeare classrooms and others. Felt rather rushed as we had to cover 3 places (Shakespeare Birthplace, Warwick Castle & Oxford University) in one go instead of 2 places (Shakespeare and Cotswold ) as planned. We had to gobble our sandwiches and no time to have a proper lunch.

The coach driver and tour guide, Regina was great and approachable though.

Stefan the guide was good , knowledgeable and very funny and did the tour in a nice humor way..only negative was that he did not carry a flag or a sign and we were a big group that was not always easy to find him.. also there were no device to be able to hear him so we must have find a way to be close to be able to hear.. Dan the driver was good..also i suggest not to get all the cities in one tour as you dnt get enough time to enjoy rather you keep rushing around..

Great day! Perfectly paced to allow enough time at each stop. Beautiful spots chosen for stopping and good info given on how to maximize our time in each. Kevin was very knowledgeable about both London and the Cotswolds - highly recommended 👌

Andy Jackson was our fantastic guide. He provided us with wonderful commentary that was interesting and engaging. Paul was our driver. He did a great job too. Wit rained all day but we still enjoyed our tour to these historic and esthetically beautiful places. We are happy to recommend this tour.
