Jerry Maguire cast: Then and now

It's been over 25 years since Jerry Maguire hit the screens and stole our hearts.

Let's take a look at where the cast is now.

At just six years old, Jonathan Lipnicki stole everybody's heart as the adorable Ray Boyd, bouncing along behind his busy, single mum.

Following his performance in Jerry Maguire, Lipnicki grew to be one of the most in-demand child stars in Hollywood, starring in both Stuart Little movies, The Little Vampire, and Like Mike.

Most recently the 33-year-old star has appeared in 2023 comedy, The Re-education of Molly Singer and has joined production company Buffalo8 as an executive producer.

When not acting and producing, Lipnicki has also been practising martial arts and is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Next up for Lipnicki is a role in reality series The Joe Schmo Show where every contestant except one is an actor/comedian.

Cruise plays the notorious slick sports agent trying to save his career and start his own business.

The role saw him Oscar nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and take home a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture.

Cruise is one of the most famous action film stars in the world.

With Jerry Maguire releasing right on the brink of the first Mission Impossible film, Cruise quickly rocketed to success. The seventh film in the franchise, Dead Reckoning: Part One, hit screens in 2023 with part eight coming soon.

At the time of the first movie, Cruise was married to Nicole Kidman. The couple divorced and Cruise married Katie Holmes in 2001. Holmes and Cruise had a daughter Suri, now 14, but the pair parted ways in 2001.

Renée Zellweger, 25 at the time, played single mother Dorothy Boyd, who teams up with Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise) to start his own management firm.

Boyd was a breakout role for Zellweger, which grew her notoriety amongst critics, saw her nominated for numerous awards, and later, pocket an Oscar win.

But let us not forget Zellweger's most important contribution to this film — her tearful delivery of the iconic cinematic line, "You had me at hello".

Now 54, Zellweger has an impressive career under her belt, most recently winning Best Actress in 2020, for her portrayal of Judy Garland in Judy.

Zellweger is most loved for her role as Bridget Jones, in the beloved rom com series, Bridget Jones' Diary, and her stellar performance in 2002 film of the famous musical, Chicago.

Cuba Gooding Jr. delivered the infamous 'show me the money' scene as Maguire's fiery Arizona Cardinals client, Rod Tidwell.

He also won his first Oscar for Best Actor in a Supporting Role.

Gooding Jr. has seen significant career success since his performance as Rod Tidwell.

His other major movies include Men of Honor, Pearl Harbor and American Gangster.

Preston plays Avery Bishop, Maguire's gorgeously intense fiancée.

While direly unemotional and unattached, Bishop can't not be loved for *that scene* where she tells her fiancée that she's 'not the kind of person to cry over babies' before serving him one after he tries to break up with her.

In the years after Jerry Maguire, Preston had notable roles in What a Girl Wants, Sky High, Old Dogs, and The Cat in the Hat.

Preston famously married Hollywood star John Travolta in 1991, and had three children, Jett, Ella and Benjamin

The star tragically died of breast cancer on July 12, 2020 at 57 years old.

Bonnie Hunt play's Dorothy's loyal, no-fuss sister Laurel Boyd in the film, who is exactly the kind of ally every woman needs.

Hunt has had a wide and varied career following her role in Jerry Maguire.

She starred in the sitcom Life with Bonnie from 2002 to 2004, and then hosted her own talk show, The Bonnie Hunt Show from 2008 to 2010.

She is best-known for her roles in the Cheaper By the Dozen series and her voice roles in the animated films, Cars and Toy Story.
