Overall I think South Doyle is a very good school. The programs that I’ve been involved in have all been very welcoming and have had a great community. I have never really had a bad teacher at SDHS, the only possible exception is a one whose teaching style I didn’t agree with. I disagree with some of the policies that administration has put in place this year. For example, they have shortened the amount of time we have for class changes. We are a 2 campus school, meaning that students who have to walk from one campus to the other are now often late to classes due to the limited time. This also makes it very hard for students to use the bathroom during class changes. Since they also introduced a new bathroom policy that doesn’t allow students to use the bathroom within the first 5 or last 15 minutes of class. This causes a large number of people trying to use the bathroom during class changes and only some can make it during the 7 minutes we have.
Attending this school has showed me lots of aspects like leadership, communication and more. The best part of my experience is also meeting new kids and being able to spend my school year with them, One thing i would like to change would be the free time most kids don’t get free time due to behavior
It feels like policies and plans change every year since I have started at South Doyle High School. No one cares about the underfunded arts. A large percentage of art, music, and band fundraising fundraising benefits athletics. They have taken away the majority of humanities classes, and Spanish is the only foreign language that is offered as of this year. Knox County as a whole has adopted "865 Academies" which are reducing access to rigorous academic classes for college and universities in order to push more students into blue collar career paths. We have lost 5 students to gun violence in the past three years since I started high school. I feel like it has been a typical high school career until I read that over. Is it like that for everyone? I hope not.
This school is facing some changes in the upcoming school year they are dividing the freshman from everyone else. This school definitely has the potential to be great but I also think that sometime they become a bit to worried about the wrong things.
Well, What I can say is that South Doyle was a good school. Everyone is nice and the community is very good but the teachers and faculty care about the students and pushes them to achieve their goals. It’s a good school but sometimes the students aren’t that very good.
Teachers and staff care about you and want to see you succeed. South Doyle is a diverse school and has a very supportive community.
I have South Doyle to thank for many things in my life. It is a very tight knit community that supports everyone and everything.
I liked my school it’s just having anxiety made it really tough. Some teachers were very helpful and kind, while others didn’t seem to care as much.
Overall I liked South Doyle, they had a lot of resources you could use to get better as a student and they had teachers that would really help you and really help be on your a game. They had a program called ACT Academy which helped you get better scores on your ACT. The Downside they didn't have a lot of activities and they didn't have enough incentives for student, I feel liked implementing that would help better overall and would make students more engaged in classes and would make the environment better as a whole, while making the school look even better as well. In the end creating school events would make the school thrive.
This school uses most of its funding for football and neglects other programs. The school is also not clean and the lunch is freezerburnt.
As a student at South Doyle High School, I was diagnosed with an illness that made it impossible for me to return to school. The staff was very helpful to my parents during my time of illness. They were like family to me and did everything possible to show support and at that time, it was very needed.
My experience at South Doyle was a neutral experience. I was overall prepared for college by my senior year, as I was provided with college fee waivers, collegiate information, tips on readiness, etc., that would lead me to success in college. My prior three years, I could sum up to being good as I was provided with material and teachers that made it possible for me to successfully pass every grade while taking the highest level of classes.
South Doyle provided many extracurricular activities for students to get involved with. It made coming to school always fun as well as the teachers there. They were all great and made learning less boring in away.
I am currently a senior at South-Doyle High School. Honestly, if the administrators were more organized and the school was safer, there would not be as many problems as there are. Class wise, we have many options. I have gotten my CNA certification and am in the process of getting my Pharmacy Technician Certification. Also, I would say that this school is lacking in college preparation. When applying to colleges I was so lost. I have looked up a lot of things online that I should not because we have a person “dedicated” to helping students prepare for college. In my opinion we should have started our post secondary/college paths freshman year. By that I mean being shown what a college application looks like, what FAFSA is, how the Common Application website is set up, etc. The school would be much better if we had uniforms as well, considering how many students break dress code.
the teachers at south Doyle are outstanding. I would like to see better baseball and softball facilities.
My experience was good but in the beginning, it went a little crazy for me. Middle school is trying to help you find your self but High School is when your life begins, unfold, and to have more responsibility come your way. South Doyle helped me become successful, yes South Doyle and I had its ups and downs but when you tell them you want something the listen and if they don't listen to you, you keep pressing until they do listen. South Doyle is Excellent at supporting are sports, clubs, and Activity; it feels like a family sometimes there. We all kind of help each other some way or somehow but everyone has a different experience. I hope yours is good too!
In all honesty, I have a nice school, the teachers are very nice and helpful. Its just some of the students give our school a bad image because of the stuff they post on sisal media. We are a really supportive school, most of the students, go to every school game we have . Other than some of the students making the school bad other than that we have a really good school, some people say its like a second home, because were all so loved.
