Allu Arjun starrer Arya is one of the best works of Sukumar. It was his directorial debut too. With Arya, Sukumar set the benchmark very high for romantic entertainers in commercial cinema. The film, starring Naga Chaitanya and Tamannah Bhatia revolves around the ego clashes of a brother-in-law and his sister-in-law who try to outdo each other until they realize that they are in love. The film also starred Emraan Hashmi and Shiney Ahuja. The film also starred KR Vijaya, Naresh, Vijayakumar and MS Narayana. This romantic comedy, bankrolled by Geetha Arts, was a box office success.

Mahesh Babu's portrayal of rock star Gautham still leaves us with goosebumps, especially the conformation scene with his opponents. It considered one of Mahesh Babu's best performances to date. Over the year, the film achieved the cult status among fans irrespective of its result.

Considered to be a super hit from Sukumar, Nannaku Prematho is a film about the son of a businessman who realizes that his father loses his wealth because of a business tycoon. He decides to seek revenge against that business tycoon by taking away his fortune. The drama throughout the film kept the audience gripped to the narration. The film went on to receive several awards, including two Nandi Awards. It takes guts to do something as new as and Sukumar proved everybody wrong with his vision.
