Willy Kambwala sends two word message after Manchester United beat Coventry City on penalties

Manchester United have reached the FA Cup final after a barely deserved victory over Coventry City.

You probably don’t quite know how to feel right now and we don’t blame you at all.

When Coventry City scored their ‘winner’, it was meltdown mode. The lowest point of the season, and possibly in recent memory.

VAR ruled their goal out, making a humiliating comeback slightly less humiliating. Manchester United went on to win the game on penalties.

Manchester United are into the final

From 3-0 up to 3-3, and then winning 4-2 on penalties, this was a crazy game to experience, against a standard of opposition we should be beating comfortably.

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana summed it up, telling BBC Sport: “It’s a mixed feeling. We went through, that’s why we came here.

“It was a tough game at the end. We were in control. After so many individual mistakes we conceded three goals. The most important thing is to win. We have to look forward to the coming games.

“Somehow we lost control of the game.”

How Willy Kambwala reacted

One player who was thrilled was a player who was ruled out of the game at the last minute, due to an injury suffered in training.

Teenager Willy Kambwala was expected to play in the biggest game of his career at Wembley, with only three starts under his belt.

An injury in the lead-up to the game meant Casemiro had to shift into defence, with Kambwala joining four other senior centre-backs in the treatment room.

Kambwala sent a message out on Instagram after Manchester United’s penalty shootout win, posting: “Let’s go”.

The Frenchman is clearly thrilled for his team and shares none of the ‘mixed feelings’ about the display, he’s just excited for the team to progress.

Kambwala will be pushing to return and get in the mix for a place in the team at Wembley against Manchester City.

There is a chance Jonny Evans, Victor Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane could all be fit again too.

All of the centre-backs have incentive to push themselves to get back. The penalty shootout win means the team’s season is still alive.
