Third Party Horror Story

So i booked 3 flights for june 3 rd through budgetair.com (Miami -rome) is been 7 days and i still have not received a confirmation email or e-ticket. i did take a picture after i payed for the itinerary , but the money hasnt even been taken out of my bank , at least not the total , only $206 dollars . i called the actual airline ( ITA Airways) and they told me they see the reservation , but no tickets have been issued... not sure what that means...

I have emailed them twice already but no answer and i cant find a phone number ..

What should i do , any advice pleaseeee?!

I think I responded to your duplicate post. But what this means is that this is a crappy OTA — not all are, but this one seems to be, sadly, based on what you wrote. It does look like others have used them, and they seem to have access to the relevant reservations systems and licenses, which don’t point to scam per se, but lack of options for contacting them apart from a chatbot and e-mail where they say 5 business days response time is yikes. Anyway, in layman’s terms they notified the airline to hold seats for you, but they haven’t yet paid the airline. If this were me, I’d ask the airline what the ticketing deadline is. The agency is getting pinged thru their computer system regarding this deadline. In the unlikely event that the deadline passes, it’s time to get a refund from the agency, involving your credit card company and relevant industry and governmental regulators if it gets that (unlikely, but you never know). Sorry for the bad experience. Edit: Also maybe check your spam folders in case the agency has been trying to contact you for some reason.

The first thing - did you check your spam/junk folder?

Yes , nothing

Unfortunately, this is common practice for such websites/providers. And why to always use a reputable travel agent or book directly with the airline. In the event of an issue (other than delay), the airline can’t help you and will refer you to who made the booking.

It’s not really that common, no. Even among the crappier OTAs. If it were that common, it’d be all over the news, lawsuits, etc.

It absolutely is. Just browse this sub or ask google.

This sub has shockingly few actual “third-party horror stories.” It does have many direct-booking horror stories. Having said that, I think we can agree that this particular one is crap.
