Overall, it's a good school to go to if you're not sure what major you want. You get a lot of help from both professors and students alike.
It’s been great this is my first year and I’ve made a couple of friends more than expected but over all love the school.
As a senior in high school and being in dual enrollment at los Angeles valley college, it was a different experience at first and was really nervous in the beginning during presentations and monologues for my theater class and got so much support from the teachers and students that I was able to overcome my fear and continue being confident as I continued my studies.
Overall Los Angeles valley College was a great Community college. It really help me pick myself up when i was down. They offer a lot of help such as tutoring, also offering a lot of office hours that are very helpful. They give you many opportunities to pass. They give everyone the same treatment. Professors where very kind and where flexible if you had an inconvenience.
counselors are always willing to help and get you on track to finish at Valley Community. There where room that you can rest for 3 hours at a time so you are able to study in a quite place, which was very helpful. The campus is never really full. They have very flexible classes mornings, evening, and nights.

The campus provides a lot of academic support. I love the MESA Program because as a STEM major, it provided me a lot of information and resources to get ahead. The people are so nice. The professors I had were approachable. I would like a better counseling system. Often, it is impossible to schedule an appointment otherwise, you'll need to wait in line in person to see one.
My experience with Los Angeles Valley College has been nothing but amazing! I’ve made some friends, joined the school newspaper, saved so much money due to the free tuition, and just the professors here are really nice and understanding.
Los Angeles Valley College has been a good college because it is local to where I live. The campus is small enough to not feel lost in when on campus. I enjoyed 4 out of 5 of my professors. The courses were all easy to follow along with and the professors were good to work with school-life balance. The president is supportive and approachable. The counselors and the career pathways are informative and perfect for staying on course.
The experience with the professors are awesome, but, the staff in the admission and records office are no help. They couldn't even give me the right information when I was trying to fill out the applications to register for class. It's so frustrating and annoying! I can't believe they messed up something so simple when I submitted as well. Ugh, it's just one thing after another with them.
It is a great experience it is very easy to navigate online and to be able to know what classes to take via the program mapper. It’s a lot better than having to make an appt with a counselor which is very hard to get an appt. If I could rate how easy it is to get an appt it would be a 0/5 starts for that, there seems to never be appts and if there is you have to wake up very early in the morning to get a place. Other than that it’s 5/5
Professors are great and really want to see you succeed. Currently i am in EOPS and they really help you a lot.
Me being a first time student into a brand new college, the experience has been great so far. The people and the community are very inclusive and makes you feel comfortable. However, I don’t seem to have a lot of social aspects since most of the students here are adults who are just trying to get by. I hope by transferring to a university, I’ll really be able to fully experience the college life of living in a dorm and such. Overall, the school has been great.
It's a pretty large campus with numerous student resources for all types of students. There are lots of great professors who really care and provide lots of explanations and help. The classrooms aren't always the cleanest but that doesn't make a huge difference. Plenty of nice food choices in and around campus. The courses are really interesting and informative, especially when you have professors that are really passionate about the subject matter. Very cheap way to do your lower division major and general ed classes (speaking as a transfer student) and the quality of education is great! Many of professors have taught at USC, UCs, and CSUN and have come back to LAVC because they like the environment and types of students they have here more. Absolutely recommend going here!
I had came back to Valley college after 10 years of being away and have had nothing but a positive experience. It was no issue setting up appointments with a counselor to get me on the path I needed for my career choice. Financial aid was a breeze with the staff guiding me and the instructors have all been great. I have honestly gotten people to change schools from other campuses to valley. They are getting me through my prerequisites with ease to transfer to my desired dental hygienist program.
My experience so far has been great, I have gotten a free Chromebook and great amounts of information about college. They set up a meeting where they went over financial aid, tutoring, classes. and in addition to the classes they helped numerous people including myself register into at least 12 units!
Overall, I had a great experience at Los Angeles Valley College. I spent a total of two years at Valley, starting in 2021 and ending in 2023. I started off as a Bio major mainly because I had no real sense of direction of where I wanted to go in m life regarding my career. After I realized what I truly wanted to become, I switched to being a psychology major. The counselors and staff that helped with my transition did a great job with giving me guidance and just making my academic experience much better. The professors I was able to get were very passionate about their job and I never felt that I was being judged or criticized by them. Something else that I really liked was just the huge diversity of the students as well as the overall support for the diverse student population. All in all, Los Angeles Valley College is a great two year school and I would highly recommend it to others.
The college is diverse, lots of helpful resources available. Staff very helpful. The college is close to many popular places like Hollywood, Beverly Hills, sherman oaks and down town los angeles. First time residents in the state will absolutely love it
