We visited the Branch Brook park for the cherry blossoms and walked from one end of the park to the other end in about 3 hours. What a gorgeous park!! Cherry blossoms: If your main focus is the cherry blossom trees, the best areas to visit are around the cherry blossom welcome center and the south loop around the large lake. There are so many types of cherry blossoms - different colors, a variety of sizes and plenty of photography options. We visited on a weekend and even though the park was crowded, we had several opportunities to find quiet places and enjoy the blossoms. Do visit the welcome center for some history on the cherry blossom trees. The rest of the park is equally beautiful with lush green fields, large lakes and playing areas. We found a pretty river near the welcome center as well. There are food trucks selling hot dogs and ice creams around the park. Parking seemed to be available at many different points but was pretty full owing to the weekend crowd. We took the light rail that had several stops along the park and offered some really great views along the way. Happy spring time!

Branch Brook Park is a great place to relax on the beautiful grass or a quiet walk around the park on the new rubberized walkways. Its a great place for one to meditate on life while gazing at the beautiful trees to absorb all that nature has to offer. Its a place where I go to let go of the past and regroup to continue moving forward. Whether your alone, with love ones, or just friends, Branch brook Park offers a unique experience for all to enjoy.

You can visit Branch Brook Park and see the “World Famous Cherry Blossom Trees”. There is even an Essex County Cherry Blossom Bloom-O-Meter! This week indicated “budding” but I found some beautiful Cherry Blossoms in full bloom! You can drive through the park and park along the street. Public restrooms near the Prudential CONCERT GROVE. Walking trails available. Cell phone tour available.

The most beautiful park in the world. During cherry blossom season (Late March until April 15) expect the most beautiful scenery.. best spots are around Mill Street near the creek, directly in front of Clara Maass hospital and the Starbucks and the area near the Newark Sacred Heart basilica for some really good pictures.

Perfect place to go see the cherry blossoms in the Spring. It is quite large so you can get many different pictures and different views. Definitely spend a day walking around the park!

It is a beautiful day on Easter Sunday. The park is packed with visitors. It is cherry blossom time. Traffic is crazy and finding parking is tough. We arrived in early afternoon. When we leave in early evening, there are still people arriving. There are food vendors with hot dogs and ice cream. Hot food truck ran out of food much sooner than ice cream trucks. Many nice areas to see the cherry blossom. Endless picture opportunities. The park is very big, need to take time to walk around. Very nice lake views. We also stopped by Sacred Heart Church, a landmark in the area.

Park, a breathtaking oasis, proved to be an enchanting paradise during my visit on April 1st to witness the cherry blossom spectacle. Surprisingly uncrowded, it offered an unparalleled view of the blossoms nearing full bloom, adorning numerous trees with a vibrant array of colors. Amidst serene walkways, playgrounds, and soothing fountains, the park emerged as a haven of nature—a sanctuary for the soul. With impeccably clean restrooms enhancing the experience, the only slight challenge was parking, which varied depending on the park's entry point but remained manageable. Overall, Park encapsulates the essence of natural beauty and tranquility, making it a true haven for the local community.

Went to see the cherry tree blossoms today, 4/1/24, and with the drizzle, the park was so lush looking. I got there around 10 am, and the park was pretty much empty so there were plenty of parking spaces. The blossoms have not reached peak bloom so there is still time to view if you catch my review in time.

This is a unique park... lots of activities for all ages...lots of parking...but the crown is the cherry blossoms. Visit this park during the Cherry Blossom Festival and you won't forget the spectacle! I live not so far away from this park but had never attended a Cherry Blossom Festival...and I regret it...This a must attend festival. So unique and special, I am not missing it again...Got a feeling of finally, "Being one with Nature."

Location was nice, pretty clean. Staff was nice. Host could have been more involved with the birthday party. DJ was OK. Needs to have more variety in music. Overall had a good time. Can't wait for roller blades to be available like the staff mentioned. 🤞

Absolutely stunning when in bloom. Even though it was busy, parking was easy (so long as you can parallel park). There were so many scenic spots for pictures. There are food trucks available nearby as well as restrooms. Overall, this was a very nice park to visit.

This park is huge. It runs through Newark, Bloomfield, Believe, and other surrounding cities. The roads are nicely paved with clear directions of which way each road leads. There are benches and other seating arrangements throughout the entire park. Festivals and other activities are held throughout the park at different times of the year.

Great place to unwind in the middle of a concrete jungle. It's so big you can find nice quiet spot or just walk and explore. Lots of fishing spots also.

One of the best park around the area, especially for cherry blossom for locals. This park has featured multiple play area, easily accessible, trails around the park, small water body along the park. Only issue i could see is the parking. We went to this park on last week of march 2024, that was little bit early, but i can sense the beauty of this park at full bloom. Don't miss this when you are near this park during the season.

Branch Brook Park, the nation’s first county park, is located in North Newark with a portion of the park touching the Township of Belleville. Branch Brook is known for housing the largest collection of cherry blossom trees in the United States. The Newark Light Rail runs on the park’s west side, providing multiple access points from Newark Penn Station. Branch Brook Park has earned its deserving popularity among National and International visitors alike for its remarkable cherry blossom display during spring. However, every time I visit the park, it continues to surprise me with its natural beauty regardless of the season. I have no words or photos that can come close to expressing how much I genuinely enjoy experiencing this treasure.

Super amazing place for cherry blossoms in New Jersey. It was flocked with people and everyone was in awe of the beautiful blossoms. Worth the visit. There are a few icecream trucks when you enter so maybe grab an icecream and walk through the huge park. Makes it worth it. You won’t be tired seeing the foliage for hours.

The architecture is absolutely stunning, the artwork and the craftsmanship is so very gorgeous inside. A must visit if you are anywhere nearby Jersey city. Looks like this place is super famous for the photo shoots. Roadside parking is available and I think they’ve got additional parking lots nearby. Beautiful Cathedral in the heart of Newark. Built from 1899 in the Frech Gothic Revival, has 3 massese a day, in English and Spanish. It is overlooked by most due to its location. The area is absolutely safe.

What a beautiful basilica! I was lucky enough to call and VOILA!... I was able to visit the same day and was completely alone there for a good hour. Um not very religious but I am spiritual and believe in something larger than me, us, everyone. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Highly recommended to reboot your chakra or just be in the now!! The architecture really does make us wonder how amazing humans really can be!!!

I really want to share my experience. I went to this Basilica on a Sunday morning. After the mass, with all my friends we received the most amazing tour around the Basilica with a great man, David. I don't know anybody who knows more saints names and history about them than David. He explained each statute, every single detail inside the Basilica structure, inside and outside. He was awesome and did a wonderful job. I thank David for taking his time and giving us such an amazing tour.

If you're an experienced traveler, you often appreciate destinations of social, cultural, and historical significance. That said, a visit to a religious venue can be one way to explore one’s fascination with culture and history. Located in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Newark and finished in 1954, the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart is the perfect example of French Gothic architecture, which my partner, our visitors from out of town and I visited today. We were honored to hear the amazing voices from the choir practicing before the next mass. Across the street from the cathedral, some of the early blooms from the cherry blossom trees displayed their wonderful flowers. The Bloom festival will be from April 6–14, attracting over 7,000 attendees from New Jersey and surrounding metropolitan areas. ——————————- Resembling the great cathedral at Rheims, the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart located in Newark is designed in the magnificent French Gothic. It’s the fifth largest in North America with the second largest rose window in United States which my partner and I came this morning as tour guides. Upon entering, one immediately feel a sense of awe when you walk in with the beautiful sculptures, carvings, mosaics, and stained glass windows. Before leaving the area, we were able to glimpse the beginning buds of the cherry blossoms. Whether you are Catholic, religious or not, the amazing architecture is to be admired which we can recommend.

Amazing work of Sacred Art and architectural detail. It reminded me of the churches in Europe. Went for Sunday Mass and unfortunately only had a very limited time to explore afterwards. Definitely a place you could spend a few hours. The Stations of the Cross are made with mosaics and the stain glass windows are stunning.

Beautiful cathedral, truly a magnificent construction, it shows contemporary buildings have no chance competing with this type of art. God's house should be kept beautiful.

Very peaceful very beautiful very soothing. It looked amazing from outside unfortunately as some private events were going on we were not allowed 🚫 to go inside May be next time. Timings say church ⛪️ is open Monday to Sunday 9 am to 5 pm. The monument is a architectural brilliance. It is a solid rock 🪨 structure with some use of glass. The door 🚪 specifically is so beautifully crafted (see pics to believe my words) . Magnificent garden and lake are infront of it. Church looks very grand just at the side of busy Jersey street. We love shooting weddings at the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart. Our team is there often and are very aware of the proper procedures they put forth for photography and video. Simply amazing.

Great performance. Wish coat check was running. Had to stuff coat under the seat or wear it the whole time. The view from our seats was perfect. The venue had refreshment stations on multiple floors so we did not have to go far at intermission.

The art performance center there is absolutely amazing! 🎭 The shows are top-notch, the performers are incredibly talented, and the atmosphere is so vibrant. It's definitely a must-visit spot for any theater lover! Enjoy the show! 😄🎉

My family loved star wars night. We went the restaurant first, they had star wars themed food and drinks. They hired local 50 to dress up and interact with guests. It was very well done. We had a blast, too much to drink and eat, but all in all an absolute great family night! We got there early enough that we didn't need reservations. The filet mignon was perfect.

Venue is the perfect place for important events as well as musical events. Acoustics is perfect. The main auditorium is beautiful. The areas outside the auditorium is easy to navigate. Staff is very friendly. Parking is convenient and close to public transportation.

We had an enjoyable experience at NJPAC. The musical performance was excellent, enhanced by beautiful sets, fantastic lighting, and perfect acoustics. The theater was accessible and accommodating for our wheelchair-bound companion, which we greatly appreciated. Concession lines were a bit slow but that's expected at such events. One thing that struck us was the lack of visible masks, a concern in these times, although it's not a reflection on the theater itself. Parking was reasonably good, albeit it could have been slightly more organized, especially in the secondary area across the street. Overall, we recommend NJPAC for its quality performances and solid amenities. We did observe a couple of hiccups with the staff. There was a delay in getting in at one of the entrances because of some party’s tickets - seem to take almost 10 minutes when it would have been possible to let other people behind them to use the scanner to get inside while the issue was being sorted out. Also at the end there was a rude gentleman who blocked us from taking pictures as we were exiting - it would have take 10 seconds but he insisted in standing in front of us between the person with phone and us … 😡 overall the staff was friendly though.

Great performing arts center with nice seating amazing audio and stage. The place is clean and well maintained. The staff are courteous and helpful. The only possible downside is parking around there can be a bit of hassle.

Great venue. Reserving parking when you purchase your event tickets is ideal and makes the experience stress free. This venue has a spectrum of great performers from across various mediums of entertainment. The neighborhood is safe and vibrant. They do an excellent job with traffic direction to avoid congestion. I recently went on a night where the performance was sold out twice in one night within two and a half hours hours and it was breeze to get to my parking right across the street and to get out and on my way home. The staff is professional and courteous! I’m looking forward to a lot more visits for a great entertainment experience.

NJPAC as it’s know for short has a beautiful theater that no matter where you sit, you have an amazing view of the stage. The photo of inside the theater was taken from Grand C Row E and I had a great view of the center stage. Across the street you can take a stroll through the renovated Military Park with WholeFoods and Starbucks across the street from the park. There’s also the nearby Military Park Light Rail station that takes you to Branch Brook Park, where in April you can see the Cherry Blossoms.

Resturant was not the best but super convenient before the Beres Hammond show. Seat sold out fast but the next went so smoothly and the show was beautiful. Really really well executed and nicely done.

Top notch place for performing arts. The hall is very beautiful. The line of artists is excellent and there is a great variety of shows here through out the year. Watched various types of shows here including talks , orchestra , comedy etc. every single time it was great experience. There is lots of parking lots around the venue within walkable distance

Attended a Take 6 concert. It was an intimate and comfortable amphitheater. Loved the feel and the atmosphere of the venue. The acoustics were amazing, considering the act is an outstanding acapella group, and their opening acts were tap dancing & beat boxing. It was a great choice. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Beautifully renovated, ample parking....what more can you ask for? Good restaurants nearby. Beers and light refreshments and merchandise such as shirts and hats are available for purchase.

Had an absolute blast spending an entire day here. All happened inadvertently when there was a small snowstorm. Easy access from EWR airport with a quick bus ride. So many exhibits and don’t forget to check out the attached buildings and the main building. The docents are super knowledgeable and the tour was fantastic. The planetarium was a ton of fun as well. Loved every minute of it and couldn’t imagine spending 5 hours at a museum before but with the bad weather outside, this was the perfect plane to take an in-depth look at every artifact and gallery.

Went for the fall festival! It was fun. A few activities, more for the younger kiddos. Parking being $10 for two hours is annoying. There is almost NO WHERE to park downtown. So although the festival is free for entry, the food was $20 for a meal, or two food trucks outside. Nonetheless I’m always there for their events; family nights and adult functions .

OMG!! What a great experience!! The ppl were nice and helpful. I had a great conversation with one of the staff ppl, she shared with me one of her favorites exhibits and asked me to go check it out... I did and loved it! You gotta see it! 😍

What a wonderful experience it was! It will take you back in time with their informative exhibits. Loved listening to their vinyl record player and have a glimpse into how their bedrooms were like decades ago. What does need some work is their planetarium. It needs a drastic update. Other than that, I appreciate them being fully accesible for the disable. After walking through each exhibit, you realize how immense this museum truly is.

Wow, I lived in Newark for a while never thought of going to this museum. I visited it for the first time and let me tell you that it was amazing, well put together galleries and organized, unfortunately, the Mansion was closed due renovation until next year. I will have to come back.

Went for child’s birthday party. I really enjoyed the thoughtfulness of the planning the staff put into the party. I’ve been going to the Newark museum for years. But this was the first time I had ever experience a child’s gathering there. I highly recommend it for parents that are looking for imaginative creative and educational spaces to have parties. Coloring fish and having them project it on the wall here there and on the other side of the globe at the same time was a magical activity The children absolutely loved. Along with the activity in the museum’s planetarium.

Really nice museum with different exhibits for children of all ages. Our toddler enjoyed the interactive underwater exhibit in animal kingdom the best. We'll definitely be back even if it's just for this one! There was a wedding being held the day we went and the setup looked amazing as soon as we entered. There's also a PJs coffee shop as soon as you enter for quick snacks or coffee.

My recent visit to the Newark Museum of Art was nothing short of phenomenal. A standout attraction, the Valentine House, offered an enriching dive into Newark’s history, leaving a lasting impression. The museum’s third-floor exhibits, showcasing Eastern cultures, were both enlightening and visually stunning. Equally impressive were the aquatic displays on the second floor, presenting a mesmerizing world of fish and sea life. The museum’s ambiance contributed significantly to the experience. Despite its offerings, the space was refreshingly uncrowded, allowing for an unhurried exploration. The staff deserves special mention for their helpfulness, enhancing the visit with their knowledge and assistance. Additionally, the gift shop was a delightful end to the journey, boasting a variety of unique items. This visit to the Newark Museum of Art was an enriching experience that I highly recommend. Its diverse exhibits and welcoming environment have left me eagerly anticipating my next visit.

Found one day in downtown Newark, just about opposite the Whole Foods and Nike outlet as I was looking for spots to shoot content for my brand. Serene gem set smack in the middle of bustling downtown. Saw some tennis tables and came back on a Sunday to challenge my husband to a game. Yes I won in case you were wondering. That’s the only reason I would bring it up. There are many benches and picnic spaces available to choose from. There was a band playing near to a restaurant on the grounds over the weekend, I’m. Not so sure they’re open everyday. Lots of street parking and paid parking in a garage underground.

The scenic value of this park is really indeterminable so really one could say it's PRICELESS! It's a wonderful stroll because it's not an over encumbering distance to travel.

Right in the heart of downtown newark, it's always been a place to go sit and relax and take in the sights. The summer months here are amazing with shows, concerts, and events that go on all summer long. I have been in newark all my life, and to be able to see the park constantly improve over the years really warm my heart. They have a carousel for the kids, a restaurant, and its directly on the bus line.

I love Park's and this is my Hometown and I always enjoy Chilling in Military Park no matter what time of the day it is.

Got in the habit of taking pictures when I have to take long walks. Military park happens to be located in the direction I'm going. Still peaceful despite the busy, loud surroundings. What was disappointing is that despite however many signs & care by vendors/patrons, it doesn't fail to see signs of others disregard for others & the environment.

Newark Penn Station is being renovated, but it still retainers it's charm.

Nice old building from the 1940s...hub for Amtrak, subway, and Greyhound bus. As public train stations go, it was clean and efficient. 4 stars only because it was hot, air conditioning was not working well, if at all. Elevators to each track in addition to stairs and for some, escalators. Has a Dunkin and a Starbucks (but Sbucks was closed on the Sunday I was there). Also has 2 news/snack/drink stores, a shoe repair, and some other. Lots of transit police there...I saw no homeless people and it was a very busy time with lots of trains.

If you can avoid the homeless, look past the filth, and ignore the terrible modifications made by hack architects, you can still see traces of the beautiful railroad station this once was. The original lights, Pennsylvania railroad logos, art deco trim - reminders of when railroad travel was the primary mode of transport and not something relegated to inept state agencies. It's a tragedy this building is owned by NJ Transit - a bloated, poorly run agency staffed by sullen employees who care nothing about this historic building. What idiot government employee thought punching a 70's metal pedestrian bridge through the facade of this station was a good idea? If you want to see remnants of a once beautiful station, take a short ride to Newark Penn Station. Otherwise there is no reason to ever visit Newark.

Actually the worst public transit experience of my life. The line I was taking -- which is supposed to run EVERY HOUR AT LEAST, mind you -- was delayed for an hour and a half. This wouldn't be a notable problem if it weren't for the way it were handled by the station. The first TWO trains I was planning to take were delayed and then cancelled. However, instead of informing the passengers that the 5:28 and 6:12 trains were going to be CANCELLED, they instead held it at "22 minutes Delayed" for about half an hour each after they were supposed to arrive. Then, after 30 minutes of a "22-minute" delay, they would run the timer all the way down, for another 20 minutes, until it hit zero, got all the passengers' hopes entirely up, and then they would take the line off the roster without any announcement or notice. So right when you thought it was going to be over and you were going to get on the train, the listing disappeared into thin air. Otherwise dirty, confusing, no outlets, and few places to sit. I was unfortunate enough to be carrying a >40-50 lb bag of lighting equipment that I had to lug around for nearly an hour and a half as I was stuck in this purgatory. Take the bus.

Newark Penn Station* It is the hub; kinda like the heart, that flows the people; just like blood, through the arteries; which are the roads and tracks, that lead to the capillaries that feed the organs—which are the destinations of our world! You can literally get anywhere from here. Whether it's a train to the plane or a bus to visit your friend Gus, they'll get you there! *Also, somewhat of a hub for the homeless... Have a❤️ and try to help em' out on your way thru!

Smells are awful but you're only there to commute it's okay. Be observant, don't stray away from crowds. The customer service at the Information Booth was very helpful. The maintenance staff is also very helpful if they think you're lost. Bathrooms are up-to-date, I saw someone standing on post wiping the floors and was vigilant of the area.

Nothing much around here while waiting for train. Only place to sit and have a meal is Macdonalds. Else just hang around the waiting area but beware of the smell due to the number of homeless. Decent toilets and good security as I see quite a number of cops.

Pretty big station. It has 8 tracks (Including the PATH's platforms. I really like the roof's design as it makes it look more spacious than it really is. Watch out for the homeless and mentally unstable. They use this station as their refuge, especially during the colder months.

Nothing like Penn Station in NYC. Only a few shops, Dirty stairwells that smell of urine that lead the the tracks from the outside streets. Homeless people. A lot of police presence. People smoking Cigarettes while sitting on the limited benches on the platform while your sitting next to them. A McDonald’s that was closed. Not a station you want to wait at the platform level.

Historic Pennsylvania Station in Newark is aesthetically an architectural marvel. A lot of the marble internal construction still exists, maintaining some of the original allure that it had when it opened. However, despite several refurbishings in recent years, this place has sadly fallen prey to the times. What was once a pride now has become a shameful shadow of what once was. Despite some very nice food stands (and one train wreck of a McDonald's) it has become a place where commuters play games of "Get to your bus or train as fast as you can", "Dodge the panhandlers", and "Don't trip over, step on, or sit on, the homeless". Another popular game for travellers to engage in, is called "Go to the rest room (if you dare) without losing your last meal after getting a whiff of what's in there". While there is an omnipresent police presence there, it's simply a hopelessly lost war. Best advice to travellers: Get in, and get going as quickly as possible.

For a smaller museum, it covers a broad range of history quite well! Never realized so many artists got their start in NJ! A few of the interactive audio tracks were a bit too soft or loud. Definitely worth a stop in if you're in the area and love music from Grammy winning artists!

I went there to see the Beatles Experience exhibit. It was ok but not great by any means. There were a few artifacts, like one of Paul's bass guitar, but overall, the exhibit was underwhelming. In over an hour, I was the only person there.

It is a nice but small museum attached to the Prudential Center. The kids loved the hands on experiences with the instrumentals and the microphones. The displays are cool and seeing the history of music is always fun. You will not spend more than 45 minutes here. Parking can be a pain. Sunday’s are apparently are great day to go as street parking is free (check signs first to confirm and there is no event at the prudential) and there were only 2 other people in the museum.

Very small but fun. I went by myself and spent around 50 min there. Maybe I would have spent more if I went with a friend since there were a lot of interactive activities. Not entirely sure this was worth the $10 bucks but this museum did manage to make me smile quite a few times, so overall if you have an hour to kill in the area it’s a decent place - but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.

Such a great exhibit especially if you're a Springsteen freak like myself. You get to see Bruce and the band from the beginning to the present. Other artists showcased in there as well. I was there mainly for Bruce‼️‼️❤❤❤💜🎵🎶🎼🥁🎷🎸

Great pop up museum with some interesting artifacts and lots of trivia. Best part was the interactive instrument displays. Entire room about Whitney Houston and lots about NJ musicians. Not very large. Takes about an hour at maximum.

Great experience, we enjoyed our stay. I hope that more artists contribute to personal items, but overall a nice experience.

Lots of hiking trails! Great place for day hikes with family and kids. Most trails are pretty easy. Some technical trails. All the trails are nicely marked. Plenty of parking at different trails heads if you get there early. Can be crowded on weekends. Plenty of hidden waterfalls and streams. Highly recommend this local gem!

What great walking trails, we came to scout an area for our son's 3rd birthday party. We are doing a Safari themed picnic with a nature scavenger hunt for the kids. The permit process was a breeze. We love that they have benches and grills already there. And tons of room for guest to spread out in Covid-19 times. Can't wait to have the party

Must to visit this place. It has a huge parking lot plus it’s free parking. Well maintained and developed zoo. It’s best for nature lovers and kids. Tons of animals are there like lions, leopards, Cheetah, sea lions, snakes, turtles, Giraffes etc. overall it’s best to spend around 4-5 hours there.

If you want to add years to your life, walk the trails here, 3-5 times a week. I'm a stage 2 colon cancer survivor (diagnosed in 2011) and I am still here, mainly, because of the trails of South Mountain Reservation.

Nice, quiet, clean park. Plenty parking across the street. Free!!!! Nice pavilion with ceiling fans to keep cool while you eat & drink. Wow!! Nice, clean bathrooms. Swan paddle boats, seat about 4. Walk the path check out the birds, turtles lots & some pretty good size fish. No!!! Fishing. Dogs allowed on leash. Even have baggie stations to clean up. Nice little restaurant u want to rest, eat, maybe a cold drink.

It’s a wonder land for random walks or trails. There is this cute hippopotamus structured tree At the beginning of the trail. There is free parking at the entrance for around 15 cars. There is different coloured path that leads to different falls and hikes. Maps are around too for your assistance

My wife and I love this place we come here multiple times a year. The fairy trail is accessible by train if you come from NYC or somewhere else in NJ this is a great place to hike and take photos. We took maternity photos here.

This busy restaurant offers an extensive menu. The stand out dishes were the stuffed scallops, grilled octopus, croquettes and dessert options. The cocktails options were also great...the gin tonic was nice and botanical. Main dishes come with sides for the table including homemade chips. The staff is warm and attentive.

We really enjoyed our dinner at Fornos. We arrived early to have cocktails at the bar after reading other reviews and we were really impressed. The bartenders were very attentive to us and were delighted to accommodated our questions and special drink requests. I love the whole ceremony of a hand crafted cocktail and Fornos delivered an outstanding experience. We lingered at the bar past our reservation time by a few minutes but were graciously seated when we were ready. We met a fine local gentleman at the bar who is a regular and he recommended a nice bottle of wine that the bartender decanted for us while we prepared to move to our table. The menu is a bit overwhelming with choices so we asked for some recommendations. We had a few items to share and the food was simply outstanding. The restaurant is very organized and is professionally managed. We never had to do more than look up and a server was ready to help. I was a bit nervous choosing this restaurant for a night out with my old friends but it was amazing. If I'm ever in Newark again I'll for sure return to Fornos of Spain. Highly recommended.

It was my first time visiting Fornos of Spain!!! My significant other was ranting and raving about the food! Upon arrival the decor was so beautiful and the white tablecloth with pattern on each table….. We waited by the bar until our table was ready, the bartender was very welcoming… The decor was rich in the traditional Spanish esthetics…. Service was excellent with very attentive wait staff. Raphael was our waiter, he mentioned it was his first day. He had a vast knowledge of the Menu and did an amazing job! On the way to our table you can see a full display of the dessert, it’s was a delicious delight to see. Our drinks and appetizers were fresh and well prepared. In the main dining area was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and bows, light Christmas music playing in the background. Overall, it was truly an amazing experience and will definitely visit again for dinner. It’s definitely worth it, and there is parking with wheelchair accessible doors and bathroom.

I was excited to go to fornos However the food quality was mixed. The freshness of the seafood is not up to par. The food was overly salted. The sauce is were not pure. Quite a disappointment. Few good things. The sweet was great and salads were free. In summary the quantity is big quality low. We only had seafood. No opinion on the meats.

Can't even begin to describe the incredible service! Make sure you come hungry, the food keeps coming! Was a 7 year gap between visits. Took a colleague there, they didn't disappoint.

The service was great. This is a place where they absolutely love what they do and take pride in keeping the tables free of dirty plates. They bring fresh utensils with every new plate brought to your table. They offer you a refill on your drink as soon as they see that it's empty. The atmosphere is incredible.

While on a trip to the Newark airport we Googled local restaurants and stumbled upon this place. The service is A1. The food was amazing. The best paella I’ve ever had. We also had the tuna tartare and we just didn’t have enough time to take picture because we couldn’t wait to dig in. Every dish was AMAZING. Will definitely be back to try different dishes.

By far the best Spanish food in the ironbound and Newark area. You might find a cheaper meal, but not the top ingredients. The soft shelled crabs melted in your mouth! Spanish coffee at the bar as an after dinner drink was fresh and mixed perfectly. Very nice staff, food came out quick.

From the food to the customer service this place is amazing. Some of my favorites are the calamari, steak and tiramisu . Biggest attraction to come to this place though is not the food. It is the great customer service given. It's what I brag about to all my friends first when mentioning this place. It makes me want to keep coming back

(That's me in the pic) What can I say about the best restaurant in the heart of Newark only two blocks from Newark Penn Station. They serve the very best authentic Spanish dishes since 1980. The paella is to die for as well as all of their seafood dishes. I have been going to this restaurant since it opened and it is just a delight. The food, the atmosphere, the service, all combine to give you a wonderful dining experience. The menu is extensive, the sangrias refreshing and tasty, the wait staff is impeccable. There are several dining areas including an outdoor seating area as well. I posted pics of the bar area where I stop in sometimes when I come out of Newark Penn Station when arriving from trips to MIT in Cambridge. I always meet cool people at the bar and engage in lively conversation with them as well as with the bar wait staff. Run don't walk to Fornos for lunch, dinner, drinks, tapas, all soo wonderful.

Fornos of Spain delights with its fantastic cooking. We couldn't resist ordering more food—it was simply irresistible. My cousin raves about the Apple Martini non-stop. Overall, our dinner was fantastic, and we're definitely planning to return.

Really beautiful Spanish restaurant in the heart of Newark. During the summer months, they have nice patio area for outdoor dining. Loved the Salmon Fornos style. They have valet parking. There’s public paid parking nearby as well. However, I highly recommend making reservations for dinner.

Excellent service and very good food. Had dinner on Wednesday with a party of 5. Mario Trindade was a wonderful waiter with lots of stories and great interaction. I thought the food was good but not great across the board. Chorizo was on point, shrimp was just okay and I didn’t care for the squid tentacles. I had cubed halibut with salmon and shrimp in a kind of curry that was very good. The lamb chops were excellent.

I'm starting this off with what I didn't like. They put a $6 fee on our bill for credit card. I get it. They get this ridiculous fee from them, they pass it on to you. The establishment has to wait to get their money. But to charge for debit card is wrong. They had the money in their account before I got home. On top of that they put the fee and tax in suggested tip amount. Now onto Spanish Tavern. The place is beautiful. Old school charm. The staff is terrific, also with a bit of old school charm. Our waiter Jose was great. They start you off with soup served up at the table. We started with garlic shrimp and paprika. Just fabulous. (Bread was stale and other tables had same issue) I got a seafood paella with shrimp, mussels, clams, scallops and lobster in a fantastic tasty rice. Lydia got the lobster dinner and was not disappointed, though she would have like a bigger lobster as they only have 1.25 lb size. We finished with flan which was very good. I also need to mention the pitcher of white sangria which was delicious, well made and among the tastiest we can remember.

Came in from Boston and went there bc it came highly recommended. Had dinner at the bar bc we did not have reservations... Best move ever! The bartender (Juan???) was super attentive and very informative about the menu!(And clearly he did great work with the drinks bc I can't recall his name right now!) The meal starts with a serving of soup (delicious btw) and some of the best dinner rolls I've ever eaten... and that's saying a lot bc I love love love some good bread! The paella was superb! The filet mignon wrapped in bacon...amazing! Don't forget about the Passion Fruit Mojitos! Definitely worth the visit!!!

I've have been eating at the Spanish Tavern for at least 25 years. The service and food are always outstanding. Try the red sangria. Do not, not get the langostino's, they are one of the best things on the menu.

This restaurant is amazing. I was searching for a place to hold a surprise birthday dinner for my boyfriend. I looked at a few places but decided to try out this restaurant because of the reviews, and when I say they did not disappoint; they absolutely did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the service was amazing, everything was just amazing. When I initially reserved it, it was supposed to be for 10 people, and I was told I couldn't get a private room because the group was too small. To my surprise, they gave us a private room anyway. The room was so beautiful. I've been to many restaurants, and I don't think I've ever gotten this great service. The food was soooo delicious. Their appetizers oh my goodness they have this mushroom in garlic sauce that I don't know who's foot they put in it, but I could have eaten that one dish the whole night and I would have been satisfied. The vegetables I believe they were steamed, but they must have been steamed in love because they were amazing also. Everyone in my group, including the birthday boy, loved the restaurant, food, and service. I can't wait to go back again. When I got to work the next day, I told everyone they needed to go here. Oh, and not to mention it was not expensive at all. I absolutely love this restaurant.

Love this place it’s always so good. I’ve been here multiple times the food is always delicious. Their paella is the best I’ve ever had in there sangria is also very delicious. The wait staff is very friendly and the prices are reasonable. This place is a classic go to for traditional Spanish dishes.

The waitstaff was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, the restaurant was elegant yet comfortable, and the food was absolutely delicious. Predominantly serving dishes with coastal influences, this Spanish roots restaurant is a must. It's a bit upscale and a bit on the higher range of cost but 1000% worth the $. If ever in the area I intend to return for a visit. Oh! And the shuttle from my hotel (airport Marriott) was incredibly convenient and free, clean, and comfortable.

Very disappointed the food was just not up to par the shrimp and garlic sauce was OK a little salty the clams casino were over done and dry, the Seabass had little bones in it and barely any flavor, the filet mignon was so small and I was supposed to have a lump crab meat instead it was a crabcake, the chicken and garlic sauce barely had any flavor and they forgot to bring the rice to go with it !! I really wanted to love this place haven’t been there in 30 years and I will never go back don’t waste your money even the desserts were bland!

We have been coming here for years. The food does not disappoint. They make the best grilled prawns - langostinos around. The dish comes with the potato slices. The steak was cooked as requested and had good flavor. There is always complimentary collard green soup when you have dinner. We drank the mango sangria. For dessert we had the bread pudding and crema catalana. The crema looks like crem brûlée but it’s a little more lemon flavored. The waiters were very attentive and moved our items out of the way quickly to make room for the next course. The place is an inviting intimate setting.

Omgggg if you are looking for delicious seafood and paella. This is the place. When you walk in, it’s like you went back in time, almost like you’re on a movie set. The staff is polite and willing to serve. I highly recommend the garlic giant prawns, the paella and the sangria. It’s in Newark but luckily they have a parking lot. Great food!!

Delicious food, good service, in what looks like a housing area. Seafood paella is chock full of shrimps, clams, scallops, mussels, and half a lobster. Very good. We have a nice dessert, not unlike a crème caramel, which is quite nice. Well priced, recommended if you're in the Newark area.

Newark is really cool, never been here, coming to see a hockey game and came for lunch and whatba great surprise, white table cloth and servers all over, great service, the bread was great, complimentary soup, very tasty, we had the roast pork quesdilla very nice and flavorful and I had bone in chicken in a sherry sauce, super good, desserts were tasty as well! Super old school classy feel, will fo again.

The Spanish Tavern is a very beautiful restaurant, it was truly an amazing experience! There is parking available. The table was formerly set, was provided with complimentary soup of the day which was delicious! The wait staff was phenomenal, he was very friendly and knowledgeable and very entertaining… The atmosphere was intimate and romantic the food was really good! I have already started throwing hints to my friends and significant other for a return! It’s truly a Gem….

My first time here and I must say it was a very nice and intimate setting. It was beautiful inside and the staff was very attentive and kind. The food was tasty and the seafood in the paella was fresh and not tough. The sangria tasted great as well. I would most def return in the future.

Probably the best sardines and salmon I have eaten anywhere. Cash only and gratuities are not included on a handwritten bill. Dining room is crowded and noisy. Prices are higher than many Portuguese restaurants-in area. Probably returning for other items now that I’m aware Might sit at bar area where food is also served.

THE SERVERS!!! Jerry is always great and happy all the other guys are stupendous. the restaurant is located on a one way so you have to go around the block to park in the lot across the street free parking but hit the guy off with a nice tip!! bring your appetite and relax with a no rush atmosphere!!! I CANT WAIT TO GO BACK. If you go tell me how it was i know you will not be disappointed!!

I would travel across the country solely for this restaurant. The seafood is so fresh, the portions are generous, and the food is to die for. Even their dessert! I highly recommend the coconut torte. The service here is wonderful. Everyone who works here is so genuinely nice and helpful. I can't wait to go back here to work my way through their menu. I consider the pricing very fair for the quality and portions. I wouldn't want to pay cheap prices on seafood. Thank you Seabras for the wonderful experience!

Food is mainly good and the portions are huge. I especially love the octopus and garlic sauce. Our waiter was friendly, helpful and provided excellent service. We paid with a credit card which incurred a 3% fee wich was fully disclosed on the menu. There is an added service charge on the bill that's equivalent to 20% which I assume is the tip for our waiter. I should've asked to make sure but by the time I realized it we had already left. Free parking is available in the lot right across the street.

See post on parking, once you arrive it's an authentic Portuguese restaurant, the ambiance is being at home with family. The decor is very simple don't expect anything fancy. Service is excellent, lots of food, the serving is more than what you can handle, and it's all worth it. They serve, sangria, beer. Desserts are yummy, i love the chocolate mousse. Best time to eat around noon time, and it's always busy. Lots of portuguese people frequent it, locals, which makes it is authentic. Dinner time, and especially weekends is extremely busy don't be surprised if you're on a waiting list standing room only, be patient it is worth it!! Great food, and experience overall.

Oh MY GOD. This place is amazing. The older male waiters were professional and classy!!!! Menu is unique and large. Food is so fresh and big portions. Dessert is amazing. We were nervous about the big crowd but were seated immediately and there is a lot with an attendant across the street. He was great! This is our new favorite place in Newark after for both after a flight or just a day trip!

We drove an hour to come to this restaurant due to great recommendations from a friend (who also dined in with us last night). I was excited to try this place out from all the great things he said. I ordered the Salmon and shrimp in a lemon garlic sauce. I have never once ate salmon at a restaurant that serves it with the bones in it. The first bite was great, it tasted good. The second bite I bit into something hard. I pulled out a salmon bone. I started to look through the salmon and all the bones (including the pin bones) were in there. My boyfriend has been a chef for over 16 years and tried deboning it for me but without the proper tools it was impossible. I sent the dish back, I NEVER send food back at restaurants. Our friend who is Portuguese heard the server cursing me out for sending it back, he let me know what he was saying. I got the short rib as the second dish and I was hoping for a better outcome but it was tough to even cut through. I’m not sure if this was intentional by the staff or not since they made it clear how angry they were for something that was their mistake. I wrapped it to go and took it home. When the serve wrapped my short ribs they only gave me one back instead of the two that were there, which clearly still had meat on it. Now let’s get to the bill. My boyfriend and our friend are looking it over, we were way overcharged for one of the entrees we got compared to the price on the menu. With thoroughly looking it over, the person who rang our bill in scammed us but adding extra to an entree dish to pay for the salmon that was sent back, again due to the restaurants mistake. The only thing I had that was good were the crab cakes. Between my boyfriend and I both working in the restaurant industry ourselves for long enough, we have never seen a place charge for something that was their fault. No manager came to the table to check in, instead we got nasty looks from the servers. We will not be coming here again, absolutely no professionalism at all. All they care about is taking your money when they screw up. Our friend that formerly came to this restaurant all the time will no longer be coming here either. Yes go here. I mean this place brought me back to a seafood market down the Jersey shore. Atmosphere was super laid back but service was fine dining. I had the octopus salad which was absolutely on point. Then I had the grilled black sea bass which was exquisitely cooked. Honestly everything was perfect the protein was the star in each dish and they obviously served the best of the best. Lastly, it's simple and not sweet but the traditional cheese they serve for dessert is delicious. I'd say a lil honey drizzle and some fresh fruit would make this a better dessert but still the cheese itself A+.

Very good seafood, good wine and good service with a smile. Post COVID, very, very difficult to park in neighborhood or book a same day reservation. Even the local paid parking is usually full. Probably best to come on a weeknight, but the seafood is always fresh, the fried potatoes are crispy and the grilled vegetables are delicious. Worth the wait, just plan ahead.

Family friendly and great for large groups. They are very accommodating and super friendly! My family and I had a wonderful and DELICIOUS experience. The four of us stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night. Good size place on a side street with free parking inside!!! right next door. Validate your stub! The place is older looking but reminds me of Lisbon! I ordered the grilled prawns Mozambique which came with rice and Portuguese chips. 3 huge prawns cooked perfectly The only drawback was they put the sauce on the side for some reason. We also had the grilled octopus with potatoes peppers and onions. Huge order and super fresh. Also an order of cubed pork with potatoes and clams!! Really good! So flavorful and gigantic. Lastly an order of chicken bistquec. Comes with chips as well. It was ok and needed a little more flavor for me. Overall a great meal and not as expensive as others in the area. Plenty of seats on a Thursday. Definitely check it out .

We went to Don Pepe on weekday lunch, because they have their own parking lot, that saves us from hunting for street parking. Even then, we were the 3rd last spot in the lot. At the entrance its a huge hallway with lots of sitting arrangements. Further inside they have another whole floor for restaurant diners. We got welcomed with some nice warm breads and pepe olive oil. Our server was pretty cut through, read us the long list of specials right away. The food takes a while to arrive, due to the lunch hour rush. My bronzini was really well cooked, was lots of moisture in it. Despite being bone-in, I enjoyed making my way through the entire fish, it was a lot to eat!! Sadly the sides are boring, a boiled/baked potato, and some broccoli carrots. I did like the broccoli a lot, it had a hint of saltiness, but other were meh! I was surprised to see the fish was such decently priced at $23, was expecting to around $30+. Overall we had a good meal. We might visit here again, but won’t be that often for quick lunch, since its more of a proper seat and dine place.

Horrible service and tasteless food. The waiter was so rude and impatient. And it’s the first time I was ask “Where are you ORIGINALLY from?”. None of the dishes is cooked in the way supposed to. The paella is basically rice soaked in soup. And the waiter said one paella is only for one, when the size is apparently for more than one. The shrimp is not fresh at all. And the beef is the most tasteless thing I’ve ever tried.

Staple in ironbound for steaks and paella. Celebrated my sons birthday here with a mom and son dinner. We had the octopus, escargot, gazpacho for apps. I had the ox tails and my son had the prime off menu fillet.

I ordered two entrees myself, one was the 4.5 pound lobster, and it came with not only a damaged claw, but the male claw was from a different lobster the size you would expect from a paella dish. I was so appalled, and immediately pointed it out to our waiter who told me a line of BS about how lobsters lose a claw and the one that regrows is smaller. Look at the pictures, you tell me. Does that look like its from the same lobster? I am a foodie. I dine as a hobby and it is an insult to my intelligence to say that to me, and further, for the money that i am paying you dont try to push off a deformed lobster to me, Most other places show you the lobster you are ordering before they cook it I trusted that i was going to get a decent lobster. The wait staff was a bit too attentive, it was annoying every five minutes have someone reaching across me while I was trying to enjoy a $200 meal "( The restaurants response, or lack thereof will determine if I ever return. The lamb shank and garlic shrimp were good.

The waiter took our order and was very abrupt. Brought us cold bread and no butter. When our food came out it was cold. My prime aged steak at $75. was over seared on the one side. The meal was not enjoyable to neither me nor my husband. The rice tasted like parboiled rice which I really don't care for. My husband had the paella, there was no chicken nor sausage in it. The waiter was not attentive, did not check on us at all. I get it that it was busy but it wouldve been nice at least once to see how everything was. All in all not a great experience. It is a high priced restaurant but not high end tasting food.

Completely overrated -stay away. Might be the worst restaurant I've been to. The manager told us he wasn’t the manager then followed outside to debate with us about the food at the restaurant. Terrible service, the waiter barely spoke English. Safe to say I will never go back to DP. Food was horrible, service was unacceptable and the manager was unprofessional.

Excellent Portuguese seafood restaurant. Have been coming here for years. I'm never disappointed. The service is superb, and you never need to ask for a waiter, I think they read your mind. They are remodeling the other restaurant the road and moving that location this spring. This building will be a Cuban menu. Met the GM, Peter and was impressed.

Food here was ok but it is a little pricey. Not saying it was bad because it wasn't just nothing special. I feel I could have gotten the same meal somewhere for a better price. Went on a Saturday night at 8pm and it was packed. Couldn't even get into valet parking so we had to look in the street. Doesn't seem like the best area to be walking around late at night. Make sure to make reservations. The service was good, the issue I had personally was I felt I was being rushed. We were having apps and he came and took my plate away before I got more calamari. I felt they could have come a few times more to check on us. I was looking for a waiter because I ran out of drinks. The place itself is nice and big. We were seated upstairs and it was pretty crowded. No music in the background but it's really loud. I could barely hear a friend 2 seats away. We also had this unnecessarily loud group behind us. It's a 25min drive for me to get here so I probably won't be coming back. I feel I can do same or better closer to me. If I was from the area I would like to give it another shot.

I have been to many restaurants to eat from Miami to Nyc. on this trip we found this place had good reviews pictures and ratings the veggies and rice was cold the lobster was good not great I asked for medium well filet mignion some how the left side was well well and the other was medium not a bad place I’d say maybe it was later in the evening and we didn’t get the best service because I even had to keep asking for water while the waiters looked passed us and we weren’t more than 3 feet away appetizers were good dinner wasn’t worth half the price try at your own risk

This wasn't just dining, it was an "experience". Service was wonderful. The food was delicious, generous portion size. The strength of the drinks were not shy. I will definitely be back when I'm in town. Our check was substantial but worth it. My only complaint is that I got dessert to go and it was inedible. My slice of strawberry cheesecake was drowned in a ton of raspberry sauce.

Great location as well as good food selection, only remarks some waiter seems comes out high-school, no clue whatsoever what they representating, management should not put them to take order like burger king, other than great food

Wow! One of the best Delmonicos I've ever had! Cooked perfectly and not overly seasoned like many places do. The sauce and the potatoes that came with it were delicious too! Staff was all very friendly and honestly I don't have a single complaint. Highly recommend!

Food was great, lots of options! Family orientated, servers were very professional and willing to help in anyway possible. Food portions were huge! Atmosphere was beautiful especially the wall up to the upstairs to eat. Always a table available, never had to wait!

Service was wonderful! Servers were extremely attentive. Out of everything ordered, the clams were the best. Everything else was sub-par. The food definitely needed more seasoning, very bland. Chorizo appetizer was good but pretty dry. My group was very excited to try this place based off the amount of positive reviews, we don’t see ourselves dining here again. The menu was also way overpriced for the quality of food we received.

Went for the rodizio experience, and it did not disappoint. Tried at least 10 different meats (I lost count cause they were bringing them out so fast). Not all cuts were my taste, but they were hot and fresh. The sides of rice, plantains, beans and fries were good (especially the fries). I wish they grilled the pineapple more though. We also had the dulce de leches cheesecake and paella. Both very good 👍 Thank you to the servers who took care of us! We had a great time!

The Rodizio is excellent. Amazing. The atmosphere is amazing. The dessert is really good. I got the flan.

While the service was great, the food was mediocre at best. I started my course with some stuffed mushrooms which were dry and burnt. Then, I ordered the sirloin steak medium rare and was highly disappointed. The steak was hard and flavorless. The fries it was accompanied with were soggy and unseasoned. The best thing were the veggies. I would recommend you to go somewhere else if you want quality food.

I've dined here four times over the last six months. For me two things are important in a dining experience - great food and great service. I received both each time I dined here. The waiters are very attentive and the soup which accompanies every meal is always surprisingly good. I also enjoy their sangrias. They also offer free parking ( please tip the attendant though) just a couple doors away.

The recommended Mariscada with red sauce came with lots of different types of savory seafood! I think it's better than the paella because the rice comes on the side.

Fantastic and authentic Northen Spain cuisine, with a great Captain and owner that already is a Legend in the City of Newark. You need to come and become an addict to this Superb Eatery.

Hellooo!! Visiting from Miami Beach for the friendly game between Argentina-Jamaica back in September I was sent over here by a coworker from Paterson. The restaurant looks unupdate but classy. We ordered shrimp appetizer which was good. We also had a seafood paella for two which was super good looking but the rice was overcooked, dry, and had no seasoning. What a disappointment. For dessert we have two flans. Definitely the winners of the night. Service was casual, friendly, and very good !!!

Our first visit here will not be our last! Very unique presentation in many of the offerings. Food prep and delivery to each diner was fabulous. From our calamari appetizers to the main course with sides, everything was fantastic! Will visit here again!

This place is a hidden gem! The service is the best I have ever experienced. This is real food cooked to order made with love. Don't panic when entering lol your view is of the bar. Once you go thru the magical door your jaw will drop from amazement at the cozy and beautiful dinning room. Dessert options are delish. There is something for everyone. Parking is on the side street. There is a lot and then you walk to the corner to enter the restaurant. You can smell the food from a block away.

Read about this place somewhere, and I just happened to drive by it today. I was lucky to find a parking spot very close. The place is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. Ordered the pastrami on rye with mustard. The portion was good, not extremely big like some other places, but enough…..the pickles were amazing. The pastrami was delicious! Will come back to try other items.

Best deli in New Jersey. You can not find a better sandwich anywhere. Try their fresh all-dark-meat turkey sandwich on rye with cole slaw. You always get a Kosher pickle too.

Outstanding pastromi sandwich! I thought I had the best across the river in Manhattan. Nope. Hobby's slices their meat thin which melts in your mouth. Wonderful staff and tips are well welcomed. All is made for take out and you sit yourself at the tables. Check the hours and the Newark Museum is an excellent stop when in the area.

I talk about this place all the time on Facebook Instagram this is my favorite deli. I really enjoy the food I come here often I love Marc and Michael and all the staff I’ve been here for years. Took the PATH to Newark to see what the hype is about, this being one of the few Jewish delis accessible via public transit for us folks up in Hudson county, especially when we don't want to schlep into Manhattan for kosher eats. We got their flagship dish, the No. 5 sandwich, and uhh... whoa!! This was a FIVE STAR sandwich. This thing is mondo, folks. I got a side of Rye Toast along with it, and place half of the sandwich innards there to effectively make two sandwiches to eat across two sittings. It tasted delicious, and the people working there (including the owners) were extremely friendly and personable. Our waitress was warm & attentive and we shot the breeze with one of the staff while he was on his lunch break about local eats, the city of Newark, and finding a good life partner. We will definitely be back. Thank you Hobby's!!

Holy cow! What an awesome experience. We had friendly service, great food, and the Devils atmosphere is great! Lots of lovely little holes everywhere if you're paying attention. I highly recommend the Reuben "sliders," though each one is really the size of a whole sandwich. It lets you taste the traditional, Chico, and brisket Reubens, with is good because I still can't choose. We'll definitely be back.

I wanted to try this place for a while and finally got around to it. I used the QRcode they have on the doorusing my credit card which was a good thing. Because they were swarmed with orders. But I got mine when I arrived after placing the order 20 minutes ago. I ordered a Pastrami and Turkey with Cole Slaw and Russian Dressing On Rye. It was very good the portion size was why it was almost $30. It's not a place I would go to weekly because of the price but it's a once in a while tree

I’m from out of town and love a good deli. I ended up speaking with the owner or manager asking him what I should get, and he told me the pastrami sandwich, with Russian coleslaw. I had never tried Russian coleslaw before so he made me a mini sandwich so I could taste it before purchasing, which was so incredibly kind. He then brought out a Dr. Brown’s soda for me to wash it down with for free. The sandwich was outstanding, and I live for a good sandwich. And he was right, washing it with Dr. Brown’s just sealed the deal! Don’t miss out, their food is good, but their customer service is even more top notch! Thank you!

Amazing. Fantastic. Superb. Not even close. Atmosphere abounds as a NJ Devils deli. A historic landmark (at least for connoisseurs of meats) in the heart of Newark and just a few steps from the Devils ice! The pastrami was the way it is supposed to be: a brisket, thick sliced, loose and juicy..and in my case as a reuben served open face. And of course a side of poutine!! Just the thing to destroy any diet!! It is worth the trip!!

Fabulous corned beef sandwich in downtown Newark. Walked in on a Friday for late lunch. The staff was very courteous, to include a gentlemen who sounded like he is an owner coming around the tables asking if everything was being enjoyed. You get buckets of pickles at the table with your order. A definite must return.

Holy cow, I cannot describe how absolutely fantastic this place is! Michael and Kim did such a great job taking care of us and the food was out of this world. I will be going out of my way to visit any time I am within 100 miles.

The menu on Google is completely wrong and years old. Most of those items are not available. You cannot get steak you cannot get those large breakfasts nothing is available. Most of the sandwiches were not freshly made and we're sitting behind glass just waiting to be heated up. I ordered a steak sandwich for about $18 with the tax and it was pretty meager as you can see from the photos, at least it appeared to be made fresh but it tasted just okay. Very disappointed that no real steak was available nor french onion soup which is what I went here for. I was not looking for cheap food and that is what I got with an expensive price. I should have ordered a chicken parm sandwich from the the little bar just across from the diner where I stopped for a coffee. The sandwiches there we're about the same price and looked way better with a larger portion. Big, big disappointment ☹️👎

Very good diner - about as good as you can get in an airport. My fries were fresh and cooked just right, with e crunchy outside and soft potatoey core. The burger was nicely medium (my request) and juicy, and the bun delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Great for an airport!

I chose to stop here because it was the best rated food in the terminal, and it was pretty decent, especially for being in an airport. TVs give you something to watch if you’re inclined, and the diner decor makes for a quiet and casual experience. The staff were friendly, and service was much faster than I had expected given they only had two servers for about 20 people; they have their efficiency down! The flying monkey milkshake was very good, and with an order of chicken and waffles the experience was complete. The waffle was interesting in a good way, and not quite what I expect from a Belgian waffle. Crispy in the edges and more like a pancake in the center. The chicken was moist and cooked well. It must have been sitting for a minute or two as it was very warm, but wasn’t as hot as one would expect coming from a fryer, coupled with the softer breading it was as nevertheless good. Some parts of the breading seemed to have caught, and a bit of burned oil flavor crept in. Not the cheapest spot to eat, but overall I’d come back and recommend this spot.

Food wasn’t worth the money. I understand airport food is usually more expensive, but the quality of the actual meal made me and my partner sick. I had the Disco Fries which were smothered in gravy and melted cheese but was given a lukewarm pile of solidified cheese on mediocre fries. I considered taking the leftovers onto my flight but grew sick at the thought. Also, the Arnold Palmer I paid for was a small that cost nearly $4, wasn’t good. You’re better of going to one of the mini shops that sell cold sandwiches.

I had a very simple breakfast…pancakes. They were perfect! I had ordered a side sausage which wasn’t my favorite. The style of the sausage was ok…. I thing special. Wouldn’t recommend getting it on its own. The server, Giovanni was really nice and polite! Loved the look and feel. If you don’t want to use the silly machines to order your food in the airport, Garden State diner is the place to go.

Those other 'guys' should learn from THIS crew! If you have time between flights, grab a seat... no time, no problem!! Besides taking your name for your order (even drink only orders), they (not just the cashier) smiled, greeted me, and demonstrated a genuinely appreciation for my business, even as they waited on other passengers. Their display helped ordering albeit no price included - it's an airport/highway type setting. Oddly I got a NY Style Reuben sandwich - sorry about not including the full sandwich but I was nearing hangry. The dinner style is typical but their chairs move; an odd feature in this terminal where chairs are rigidly fastened to the floor not to move less of a power tool. My coffee came as ordered, fresh and hot. I know it's not a Big-buck drink but it hit my mark! My sandwich came toasted with slightly melted cheese but not excessively hot to my fingers. The sauce is barely noticeable and I didn't ask for extra as I ate it at my gate instead. THIS crew definitely helped get my (long) day off to a much better start! I'm thrilled they worked today!

Diner menu, good selection for airport. Hot food needs to be hot, especially soup and if they asked for a preference of how you would like the burger. Service made up for it though.

Had a few mins before my LAX flight out so I took the advice of a local attendant and stepped into the Garden State Diner. Its in terminal C all the way at the end on the left. There was a line which told me that I may have made a good choice. Didn't take long to get seated at all. I ordered the veggie omelet with croissant and coffee. It was surprisingly good. Fresh veggies in the omelet and the croissant was light and fluffy. The coffee was good but I have had better in my travels. Nice and clean location the service was spot on and fast. No crowded but a good steady crowd.

The food is very good for airport, but it too expensive! We took the Sangria (55$) - me and my wife drinked better , pizza (35$) - was ok, bottle of water (8$), french fries - we didnt loved them, but they ware ok, Salomon was perfect! Total was 168$!!! If not the price, I had give them 5 stars!

A busy place to get a breakfast before a flight. We were seated fast and got our food quickly, too. They seemed to get that people don't want to linger long. They had the usual diner offerings, including pancakes of various flavors, waffles, sandwiches, etc. They had bakery items like croissants and danishes as well, and after we left I noticed they had an adjacent bakery stand for people who need food very fast.

A great place to relax and eat before your flight leaves. Today, there was a wait. I ordered the NY Style Pastrami Reuben with French Fries. The sandwich was good but it was too greasy. The dressing is light but generous with the pastrami. The French fries were freshly made, and it's still hot. The service was excellent considering only two servers working on the floor taking care of the whole dining area. My server did her best and did not miss a beat. She was very efficient and attentive.

We stopped to eat here for a layover. The food was good but not particularly above another Americana dinner. The atmosphere was on point for a 50s malt shop. The only thing that broke it for me was the airport travelers and announcements so it was understandable, with a high price tag. The Service was awsome! We had a very cheerful gentleman who got to know us and shared his story. They were truly a delight to meet.

Food, music, and atmosphere was awesome. However, the service was less than 1 star. Waitress just couldn’t seem to get right. She kept forgetting things we asked for. Also, I watched her take a tissue out of her pocket, blow her nose, put it back in the pocket, and never clean her hands. I told the manager. As he knew I was watching them, he put gloves on but then touched a tablet and 50 billion paper orders everyone else had touched after. *Sigh* Anyone serving open food should have on gloves and change them often-that was my suggestion. I wouldnt be surprised if people get sick a lot leaving this place. Hygiene is terrible.

Cute little NJ Diner in the middle of the airport with perfect diner decor and atmosphere. Typical diner menu for decent prices and they offer dine in or take out. The take out window server was great and I was all excited to give 5 stars until I sat down at my terminal and opened my to go container. The sandwich was super whimpy with barely any turkey or cheese and it was missing the chipotle dressing completely. The sourdough bread was tasty but extremely hard to the point of breaking a tooth. The bacon was also tasty but there was barely any of it. I wouldn't mind paying $20 for this if it wasn't a $5 sandwich. My friend got a Greek salad and had no complaints.

they discriminated against me and informed me that i could not sit near the tv by the other costumers because i was “ eating out” but i was actually dining in. i feel disrespected and will never come back again the photos will show you who stopped me from sitting where i pleased when i went to dine in. They even told me it was a miscommunication but they still refused to let me sit where i please. i make all three of their paychecks every single day put together . How dear you tell me i can’t dine in? they don’t deserve to work in this setting by the way the treated a paying customer with his wife and kids

Food was fantastic. Of a party of 12, not one complaint on the quality of the meals. Portions are large and the menu was very diverse. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Prices were $$$ out of $$$$$ but worth it. Only reasons it's not a 5 star were because they were having an issue with the lighting and they didn't bring out all the meals at the same time. One dish was delayed about 10 minutes. Overall a great experience.

Food was fresh but some selections were bland. The Spanish sausage in garlic sauce was amazing. Octopus and lamb shops were bland but were fresh. They have their own parking which is good for the busy area. Clams in garlic were also tasty. Was pricey but worth the portions.

Adega Grill is our go-to for special occasions: graduation, birthday, anniversary, etc! The seafood platter is a treat for me and my family of 4! There's enough food for all of us! Tomahawk is a must try, especially to steak lovers out there! Don't forget to order a glass or pitcher of sangria!

After a three-year absence, I recently revisited Adega Grill in Newark, only to find that the restaurant had undergone significant interior changes. While the new look is appealing, I was taken aback by the apparent shift in their target clientele. The imposition of a strict dress code, coupled with nearly doubled prices, suggests a move towards attracting a more affluent customer base. The service was impeccable, but the exorbitant bill for a party of four, totaling $200, left a sour taste. Sadly, this will likely be my final visit, as the restaurant's new direction seems to prioritize exclusivity over the once-welcoming atmosphere that initially drew me in. Overall, while the aesthetic updates are commendable, the drastic changes in pricing and atmosphere have diminished the allure of this once-favorite spot.

Very good restaurant in all aspects . Healthy and delicious food, generous portions. The restaurant has a good decoration and several environments including an upper floor. Waiters are friends. I ordered fish with mashed potatoes and my companion a filet mignon. For dessert, a flan and a bomb. Everything divine. I recommend and will be back. The price is above average.

Overall a nice place but not so excited about the food. I had fish with crab meat on and my bf churrasco mix 🥩 my fish was very dry and tasteless and the mashed potatoes made from the box 👎🏻very disappointing. The meat mix was really good but they mixed the rice with the beans in the same plate 😝 what kind of presentation of the food is that 😒

This is my 3rd time visiting here with my family and it's always a very beautiful experience. 1st time was a date, 2nd was my birthday dinner with family and today was family dinner. I love it!

Decent food, but chaotic service from an assortment of waiters, few of whom could actually communicate effectively. They did manage to push soft drink refills at us though, then billed $3.50 for each glass. Plus a credit card “surcharge” added as a surprise to the bill. Overall- skip the place. Not going back.

Long story short, we had three weeks to plan a wedding. Calling venue after venue. Then we remembered we went to a sweet 16 at Adega Grill. Figured, lets give it a shot. They had our date available, so we went off to the races. Our ambiance was amazing. All I heard from our guests, that the food was amazing, from the apps to dinner (which typically at weddings, you don't hear). Marco was able to respond to me regarding any questions or concerns I had. I was able to decorate to my liking and able to set up before time. All our friends & family stated it's top 3 weddings they've been to. With that being said, don't hesitate to check out this location. We had a party of 48 but they do have a larger room in the back to hold bigger parties. The staff was friendly and anything that was a miss, they took care of it immediately. Highly recommend DJ Mavric, he's familiar with the venue and everyone raved about him. Thanks for making our most important night a perfect one! Cheers!

Wow - what a top notch Portuguese spot. All the best land and sea meals - very traditional, yet with a creative flair. The staff was outstanding and made sure everything was to our liking. Does not get much better than this. Premium.

Came into town for a game, stayed in the Iron bound district. This Portuguese resturant has to be the best in that area. The food was delicious, the service was great. Great value for the price. My only pain point was very dark for these old eyes! I would highly recommend.

Our 2nd time dining there. Everything was excellent. We had the coal grilled T-bone and the grilled snapper with shrimp and scallops. The T-bone was perfectly grilled, medium-rare, was a large and tender cut and the portion was generous with sides of potatoes, rice, veggies, a grille pepper and onion rings (the only one that wasn't up to par). If ordering the T-bone, skip the appetizer. The grilled snapper was also super tasty, perfectly cut. A nice portion but more on the regular size side. Previously, we had the ribeye and the flank steak, they were also very good but the T-Bone surprisingly is the star there. Service was excellent. 3 of us, no appetizers, 2 T-bones, 1 snapper, sodas and iced tea: tab was a reasonable $160 with taxes.

Been here a couple of times, seems like a good party event atmosphere but the food really lost me here. Most plates between $40-50, veggies tasty but hard, long wait time for the food(most likely cause of the event happening) and the food was just ok not something I would return for. We were a table of 5 and honestly not one of us said we would come back and have the same meal. The Place I have to say is gorgeous but the food gotta be just as good to keep me coming back. Don’t think I would return.

Adega exceeds expectations in every way possible! The quality of every single thing we tasted is amazing, we couldn’t get enough! The portions are surprisingly huge as well. We got the king crab legs and American fillet mingon and we barely managed to eat everything ☺️ Do not miss the sangria pitchers as well!

I started going here during my college days back in 2013 and I'm a little bit sad to see that the prices went up a lot, but given the current state of the economy, it's expected to see those food prices rise. However, the food here is still great and you get a lot for your dish. It's probably even enough to share with another person. The meats are great, selected quality and the bartenders know what they're making.

It's more like 3.5 stars but I want to keep it to 4 especially for the excellent service they provide. We decided to go for the buffet. The only meat we enjoyed was the sirloin steak. It was delicious. The other meats were either too salty or hard to chew or tasted like they were breaking down in our mouth. The salads and other items in the buffet were great. Exceptional service from the waiters.

The food was really good. The waitress was a bit odd though: They have a rule against sharing when you buy the all you can eat rodizio, so she stared at everyone at our table almost nonstop making sure none of us shared any food amongst each other. I get why she did that but it was a bit over-the-top and made us all feel uncomfortable.

At $36 a person for all you can eat rodizio, the price is right for teenage boys. However, the meats lacked flavor and some were over cooked. There is also a salad bar with beets, beans, plantains, fries, etc avail for the all you can eat diners.

Not what I have experienced a few years ago... I have always come to this place, and the food WAS consistently good..... But my oh my, how the times have changed! Very inconsistent food coming from the kitchen. The salad bar for starters, was just quickly put together... Canned Beets mixed with sour cream? How does that qualify as a Salad Bar item? Majority of the meats that came out were HEAVILY salted, and inconsistent temperatures. Over cooked, and too rare... there is no quality in service, or in food. Pinnaple, which is what I was looking forward too, was over ripe, and masked with white sugar to cover the taste up. Not to mention, not well seasoned with cinnamon... Oh and to top it off, there is an automatic gratuity for 3 people of $19, and if you pay woth card, it's an extra $5..... while we were still sitting at our table, the waiter open our Check book to see if we left additional tip... in front of us. Super unprofessional. Never coming back..

We enjoy the food and service is always great. We used to go at least once or twice a week. . But what I don’t care for is adding an 18 percent tip and and an up charge if you pay by credit card, touted as a savings if you pay by cash. Seems to be the new popular trend in Newark restaurants.

Haven’t eaten here before but have at the one by ferry street many years ago, not sure if same owners. I live quite far and was in the area so I decided to treat the family to one of my favorite restaurants from the past( I believed it to be the same). Ordered take out and was very disappointed. Everything was real dry and blah. Salad was just tomato and iceberg lettuce. Maybe it wasn’t that tasty due to being takeout?? Employees were very nice and a pleasant place. $54 dollars for 2person dinner and there was a lot of food.unfortunately not much was eaten.

Came here for my wife's birthday. She has always wanted to come to a brazilian style restaurant where they bring out the meats. It was great so many diffrent meats. From chicken to sausage to steaks and lamb and they really don't stop coming. The side buffet table was great too. Rice and beans and sweet plantains and salads. All for $45 per person. We also got drinks to start they were delicious and made strong. I would definitely recommend to come with a big appetite and be patient to wait for the meats you really want to try.
